Perfecting Raid Strategies (Tips Welcome)

We've all been with the LFG Groups, or even friends we play with on a regular basis, but no matter what you do the team just can't get the objective done. As someone who has decent knowledge of the raid and enjoys helping others I'm trying to throw some tips together to ensure everyone stays alive and increases their damage outputs. Vosik Phase 1 (Generators) Not much to say here, just make sure the people defending the generators are able to kill shanks while staying alive, designate the low light players to run for charges as it doesn't take very much effort. Vosik Phase 2 Arguably the most difficult encounter during Heroic Mode. This encounter is full of things with one purpose, to make you die. It happens, I've died, you've died, your favorite streamer has died, Deej has died, we all do it and there isn't much we can do about it, but there are things that can be put in place to prevent as many deaths as possible. Heroic Mode Only The safe rooms will be about 75% closed, meaning you must crouch or slide under them (Not Shadestep) If choosing to slide under the door, don't try to slide early and time it, just run into the door and slide after you have banged your knee on it. Titans Blessing of Light is an amazing tool for this encounter, just make sure you put the bubble somewhere that allows multiple people to grab the buff and isn't easily shot at by Vosik (as he 1-2 shots the bubble to break it) Also, if there is an abundance of Titans in the group you can run both weapons and blessing and feel unstoppable. Hunters Grenades.. We all know you are using Nightstalker, so hit those damn doors with every nade you've got! Especially on the right side where enemies to sit back and only come out when someone needs to go grab a bomb. Also, if you have a couple others hunters, arc blade is useful if the bomb drops far up in a dangerous location. Gunslinger with celestial nighthawk is also very good for damage on bosses and clearing captains. Master Rac- I.. I mean Warlocks As a Warlock Main I notice a lot of things people do wrong. If you are going to use Sunsinger pop that super and spam grenades at the bosses, it gives an extra 45% damage you're missing out on. (Stacks with tether and melting point). I personally run Voidwalker to nuke the captain that spawns on whichever side I am on. My team sometimes doesn't even realize it's dead as they hardly get to see it. Also, the health regeneration on grenade Melee and super kills is amazing. Siege Engine (Death Zamboni) This encounter can be hell for many teams, especially if played without some form of strategy. Basics During the first phase where players are shooting at the Engine, have someone use a super to clear ads, tether/blessing bubble/stormtrance/arc blade/hammers work wonders here. If anyone dies before the engine suffers a "hull breach" just wipe, it isn't worth it to try and continue with 5 people this early into the encounter. Once the first wall has been knocked over, designate 3 players to be the first to pick up the parts, the other 3 clear ads and destroy the bombs that slow/kill everything. Also make sure to shoot the turrets off of the Skiffs that drop enemies, they aren't very forgiving. Also, if ads are proving to be a problem you can quickly pick up a part and drop it right away to spawn in the mines and then go kill all the ads. Afterwards go grab the parts and you'll only have to worry about Meksis and the Walker. Heroic Mode Only Once the parts are about 75% of the way to the Engine, a Fallen Walker Tank will spawn in front of the ramp. Drop the parts and shoot the damn thing, snipers/sleeper/gjallarhorn/etc. Once the parts are aboard the Engine, make sure to bring them to the right locations. The Drive Shaft (Blue) goes in the front right location near the ramp. The Warhead (Yellow) goes in the center on the side facing the ramp. The Engine Block (Green) Goes in the far left location (have a second person follow the Engine carrier to pick it up when dropped). Titans Once again, Blessing of Light is amazing for keeping the fire team alive. Weapons is useful if your team isn't able to kill the Walker Tank quickly. Also, Sunbreakers can use their super for dealing with the captains that spawn near the Walker Tank. Hunters Nightstalker is the very good for this as having Tethers to deal with ads is amazing, especially if paired with a Stormcaller or Sunbreaker. Bladedancers using an invisibility build could be useful for carrying parts, but many enemies have AoE attacks and you will get hit anyways. Using Gunslinger with the Nighthawk Helmet will do mass amount of damage to the tank if played on Heroic Mode. Warlocks Stormcaller, the ad clearing machine. When Greg the Dreg hears you activate your Stormtrance he and his entire squad bend over and spread they're peg legs because they know they're -blam!-ed. Stormtrance can also kill Meksis (Captain that closes the ramp) Aksis Phase 1 This is a pretty self explanatory encounter, just make sure you're in the right spot at the right time. In between cycles when the shanks spawn, tethers and blessing bubbles ensure everyone stays alive. The best spot I have found for the tethers is above Aksis' head on the back wall, as it will tether the shanks right out of the spawns. Titans Blessing Bubbles once again work very well for keeping the team alive, especially since there is no boss to damage so WoL isn't needed. (Put the bubble in between two sides to allow more people to get the shield. Striker also works well as it can one shot the Captains. Hunters Either tether (for shanks) or Celestial Nighthawk (for Captains) work well. Warlocks All 3 subclasses work well, voidwalker is good for killing the captains right when they spawn, and Stormcaller can clear ads/kill captains. If you choose to use Stormtrance on the captains make sure you either have them flinched or move around as they will shoot at you and if you are lower light will kill you. Aksis Phase 2 I just spent 15 minutes typing things for Phase 2 and phogoth to save it. Fml To those saying there isn't much useful information, this thread is for everyone to come together and give input on what they have found to be the best way to complete each encounter.

  • Good someone else that uses warlocks in raids, I'm like the only Warlock in each raid group I do, even with friends!

  • Here is my tip for Vosik Phase 2: Loadout of the whole fireteam: Primary: Either Chaos Dogma (Scout) or Steel Medulla (Pulse) or any other primary you are comfortable with (Raid weapons do additional damage to fallen, which really helps) Special: Quantiplasm or any other void shotgun (again raid weapons do additional damage to fallen, which really helps) Heavy: Sleeper Simulant - For additional damage we had weapons of light, tether and solar grenades with viking funeral. Damage was never a problem, we actually had to take care that Vosik won't go down during the second damage phase. - Hunters used their thether as many times as possible. If there are more than one titan: only one needs weapons of light, every other titans can switch to blessing to keep the team alive during add-phase. - Captains neither were a problem since we could just melt them with two void shotguns. - Monitors could easily be taken down with our primaries. In my opinion this is the best and most reliable loadout regarding damage output and survivability. Of course the Spindle could do more damage if you hit all shots crit, but like said, more damage is not needed. I was one of the two guardians who had to close the door with the siva bombs. I just fired 6 Sleeper shots and then took my bomb and had a look on which doors will become activated. Could call it out early enough and everyone could get there in time.

  • Just saying this now. Viking Funeral doesn't not stack with Melting Point and Tether. Only one can be up at a time, Pretty sure Tether over wipes everything followed by Melting Point the Viking Funeral. It stacks with Weapons of Light however

    • Forget the ads on siege engine. Put a bubble in front of the shipping crate, and stand on top. EZ Mode. Shoot the skiff turrets off. EZ Mode. Guy hangs back then when the 2nd skiff shows up he runs to everyone detonating all the mines early. EZ Mode. Have a titan blowing bubbles as you make your way there, Saint-14 is your BFF. EZ Mode. Have literally anyone with a sword kill Meksis, he has no more health than a captain. EZ Mode. Kill walker, profit.

      • Learned something very very useful last night. On zamboni, when the parts drop, the timer does not start til you pick the pieces up. So you can kill all the enemies. Including the next 2 ships that come. So you can kill basically everything excluding the tank before the timer even starts. Your welcome.

            • The absolute easiest way to do siege engine pt 1 (turrets and jumping on) is to place a bubble in front of the cargo crate where the special ammo box is. All 6 jump up on cargo crate after bubble is popped. Adds will hit the bubble, not the players.

              • I feel "empowered must throw bombs" is over rated. There's enough time between throwing final bomb to get everyone in position. You'll have better success having people do what they are comfortable with. I didn't want to throw bombs my first few runs bc I was afraid I'd miss and Jack it up.

                • stormtrance works great on all parts of the raid (heal on cast and great dps for caps) and for siege engine hunters with nighthawk can shoot the crit on the tank for 400k damage doing atleast half its health in ~2 seconds and seizing that one leg kill

                  • At vosik fase 2 just spawn camp the adds at the doors on the left and right side with a sword and raid gauntlets. There is more than enough cover from vosik in the back. Make sure 1 always goes back to shoot monitor. This is very effective especially on the right side since the adds just hide exactly where a bomb can drop.

                    • I would never wipe on siege engine if we had 5 people in the beginning. People could still do it on heroic with even 4.

I didn't read it so I am sorry if I repeat something already said. for Vosik part2. if you know for sure that you will be able to take his shield down in the next bomb throw, I usually tell my team to just grab their bombs and come to mid before we throw. saves some time I feel. Siege Engine--you lose some time, but makes it much easier. if you just focus on killing all the adds at the bottom before even picking up the pieces. than all you have to worry about is the captain on the engine (and the walker if you are on hardmode). don't have to worry about adds or ship shock grenades. it's pretty easy. Aksis- I no longer have the empowered people be the ones to pick up the bombs. I let anyone do it and just make sure we are all in position at the final bomb throw

                      • If you're on normal and lose someone in the first phase of the siege engine (like bad midair jump collision kills someone) one person can jump off the back, revive them, and still get caught up

                      • Why do people keep making "definitive guide" threads for the raid that only give decent information, if not misinformation. *tether and melting point don't stack, btw...

Vosik phase 2: Have lower light or more death prone guardians go left since adds spawn one at a time and theres more cover. It's not a big deal if you cant get to your bomb up front, in fact missing one bomb can be preferable. We got vosik to under 50% during the first dps phase due to this (This was challenge mode so we saved the last 2 bombs for the doors) This causes shanks to spawn round 2 and makes life really easy. Split up based on classes and heavies to make sure you can deal with captains effectively. If a captain falls off of the map proceed as usual. Grab your bomb but don't throw it at aksis unless you're 100% sure you will drop his shield which destroys all adds. Instead save it and throw it at the captain because he will respawn with the bombs. If you're doing the challenge mode have two dedicated room cleaners who will carry the bombs. Split 5 and 1 where 5 always go left and 1 always goes right. There is a rare chance two doors on the same side will open on round 1 so be careful. Outbreak prime is your friend here. USE IT! Engine: After breaching the engine, make your way to ship1. Destroy turrets from ship1 then kill adds. DO NOT pick up parts. Turn around and destroy the turret on ship2 and then adds, move up and destroy turret on ship3 then split up. 3 go back for parts while 3 clear adds. Swap when parts drops. One person then kills meksis while 5 focus on shooting THE SAME LEG of the Walker. Hunters go nightstalker and use keen scout for fast crouch speed, warlocks use trans steps. Vosik1: Bomb throwers watch turrets like hawks while not throwing bombs or calling put elements. It's easy to 5 man if one side throws middle bombs as well or if someone can easily use 2 cannons. Tether at the middle turret so you get ammo drops. If the captain gets stuck in the wall use another cannon to charge shoot him which will unstick him. Vosik2: Have dedicated jobs regardless of empowerment. I've seen too many people say "Empowered do not pick up cannons" which confuses some people. I've seen 2 empowered people staring at a cannon not saying a word. Bomb throwers need to watch aksis' shield strength and call out last bomb. Position yourselves for supercharging. It's a good mechanic and possibly a challenge mode requirement. You don't need 3-4 nightstalkers all tethering in phase 3. Someone go hawk slinger for a 130,000+ dmg golden gun or tether him every teleport. Same goes for titans and WOL.

Vosiks Challenge Mode Play normally except when the bombs drop during your damage phases do NOT throw them at the boss. Instead you will use them to close the safe room doors, YOU MUST CLOSE ALL DOORS USING BOMBS BEFORE VOSIKS DIES. The easiest way my group found to do this is assign one person to pick up a bomb and go to the right doors, assign one to pick up the bomb and everyone else goes left. (This avoids all confusion as you know before hand what rooms you will go to so no one will be late.) Remember you must close all doors using the bombs so this means you have to kill Vosiks in 3 damage phases MINIMUM.

                          • The beginning of the raid is always is the easiest part. Vosik phase 2: Left side is always the easiest, right side isn't that bad, middle is the hardest. If you're on the right or left side help the guys in the middle, throw a grenade at the platform where adds spawn it'll help a lot or use your tether to help. Siege engine : One tether and a bubble with blessing + helm of Saint 14 is enough to hold back the adds coming toward you, use your fuc#king sword ! After you drop to pick up the parts wait until the fallen ship leaves and then kill the captain and pick the parts, if you're not picking a part shoot mines. After the first part drop tether the adds on the platform and again use your fuc#king sword ! Bubble & saint 14 + tether + storm caller will be the best for adds part before boarding the engine watch out for fallen ships, if you're going to kill the b!tch on the ship to open the door use your fuc#king sword !! Driveshaft = big blue thingy, goes in the first hole on the right Warhead= big ice cream cone ( aka dild0 ) goes in the far hole on the right side Engine block = smallest part among the three, looks like a match box goes in the hole on the far left of the engine. Aksis Phase 1: Take your time with the captain and help the guys in the middle with a tether or nova bomb, use your fuc#king sword ! For God's sake know where to throw the Siva bombs especially on the far right and left. Aksis Phase 2: Stay in cover and don't push too aggressively you have more than enough time to take out the captains, help the dudes in the middle, and it shouldn't be a surprise by now but use your fuc#king sword. Only empowered guardians should call out and communicate do not worry about damage in the first and second teleport just make it the last teleport and unload on the boss TL;DR Use your fuc#king sword !

                                  • Tip for seige engine when taking the bottom route. When you get to the part before the last ramp back to 'ground level', turn to face the opposite way and drop your part. The amount of times I've seen a part lost down the hole here is rediculous.
