How to get Thorn Year 3
All credit goes to the original founder on reddit. Link is at the bottom.
You get the quest randomly when turning in bounties to Shiro at Felwinter's Peak. From that the steps are:
Step 1: Echoes of Darkness: Face "The Wretched Eye" and defeat Kovik, the Devil Splicers' high priest. Doesn't matter what difficulty
Step 2: Harvest of the Lesser: Wipe out Fallen in the Plaugelands to feed the weapon's appetite. Quite a bit of splicers have to be killed.
Step 3: Feast Upon the Light: Use Void Damage to defeat Guardians in the Crucible. Private matches don't count. (No death penalty)
Step 4: Cleansed by The Light: Consume Motes of Light to Cleanse yourself and the weapon. 5 motes.
Step 5: Where it Began: Find a Skeleton Key and open the Strike Hoard at the end of "The Abomination Heist" Strike.
And thats it! Now I just gotta get the quest to drop.

4 RepliesEasiest way to get thorn in year 3 is. Well, as soon as you spawn in at the tower. Just go straight ahead. Make sure you go down stairs and not up stairs. Up stairs has a robot with a blue board behind it that hands out bounties. As you go down stairs. Go past the two desk on the right and left. Those are crucible vendors that sell weapons and armor. Proceed past them farther to a long table. There will be a hunter, titan and warlock standing at it. Once in front of it. Turn around but don't move. You will see a blue screen to the left and right of the door way you came through. Walk up to the weapon one. Look through it. You will see a Thorn you've already aquired. Buy it and there you go.

2 RepliesI used to pve only, now I am a mix of both. So glad the void bit is in... the first thorn bounty was so hard but so good to get. I remember the grind to get the word of crota and atheons epilogue. Cant wait to get it.. :)

I took a week+ in year one to grind through the quest, finished the last step with only my badly under-leveled girlfriend for backup, now I have to hope to randomly get the quest again. All the while noobs that just bought the game are earning it, without the worst part of the struggle, as I sadly check in on the year 1 version in the vault. Resentment... Building...

2 RepliesI feel a little annoyed that that they didn't SIVA the Thorn for it's return. I'm mean they spend a bit of time showing the Splicers experimenting on the Hive that it would have made sense for them to do the same to the Thorn.

Damn. They seriously put that PVP part back in? Don't you PVPers get sick of this? I mean... The PVE players get forced into PVP and either: A. Cost you the game because they are focused on the quest and only the quest. B. Hiding and killing eachother just to get the quest done and over with. C. Complete the quest then bail leaving you short handed. I mean...you guys should be JUST as mad at Bungie as PVE players are for this BS.

4 RepliesI bet quest developers at Bungie just sat at the table and said "make them kill like 125 Guardians with void, and 500 fallen. Make them grind" This is the problem with quests, everything is long and random, Gjallerhorn and Kvostov are great cos they make you do more than grind, you have seperate unique missions. but the fact that the Thorn quest is random is just annoying. Give us a specific way to get quests Bungie!

How many bounties do you need to turn in to him? There was 4 bounties to start. Iv done 2 of them. The other 2 require grinding arkons forge. It's not impossible. But sure requires a lot of siva keys (other than splice Keys). If that's the case. Props to whoever has the quest right now.
