And it's by far the best way I have been able to read into the broken ties of the story! It told me everything from beginning to end on what has been told via grimoire cards to things bungie will fill us in on to things that are still in question yet people have their own fan-fictions on already. By far the best read all month long. Bungie please keep up the good work and continue filling these holes in this amazing storyline. Hope you Guardians enjoy these articles.
Edit 1: Needless to say this article is now trending haha! I'm glad everyone is enjoying this backstory. I have read it all and I really hope that Bungie expands more on this story and the holes that lie within it all.
Edit 2: I have read a good portion of comments and how people are annoyed at the fact that some outer source had to tell this story. I can agree with that but at the same time I wouldn't want a storybook implanted in the game to tell you these things. I want to play out the Collapse. I want to play out the battle of Twilight Gap. I want to play these events instead of reading an article. And I probably won't be able to play them but my guardian might be able to relive them or even better find a way to go back in time and reverse history. I'm telling you this storyline has potential out the butthole. Let's hear your fan-fictions!!
Edit 3: I see that people would prefer to not have to read the story of the game outside the game itself. I can understand that but also there are a lot of games that have a hidden storytelling and RPG'S especially fall victim to these categories. I'm someone who runs to where the cursor is and picks up the mission and turn it in without reading the essay that they have in the mission description within that bounty. I miss out on a lot of the story because I have things I want to do. I want to get to the action. I wanna shoot the aliens. Not read hours of text when I can easily do that in my off hours/work (I work in a job that doesn't really require extensive attention). But I could probably also agree that there should be a in game grimoire/story book on the previous events that took place before "Destiny"

If this article is true, then I liked the speculations more, to be honest. Rasputin preventing The Traveler from leaving sounds a lot more interesting to me.

It would be cool to be able to read this in-game but with static art related to the what you were reading. So it has a comic book feel.

15 RepliesThere's this thing, we'll call it Traveller because it sounds better than Ball, it did things. Great things, we don't know how or why so let's just gloss over that for now. It's a friendly Ball... Traveller, as far as we can tell (oooooh, high five for adding suspense). It seems to have helped other planets out... but VERY bad things happened to all of them (nice! More suspense!). So Ball (Traveller is too many letters) runs away... no wait PUSHED away and finds us! It decides to stay because there's something "special" about the Solar system. Yeah, that's cool! What is special about us.... who cares! We'll figure it out later! So the Darkness comes (*loud guitar wails in* "I believe in a thing called looooove) "). Edgy right? Who are the Darkness... a guy in a onesy! No wait space gerbils! No, that's way to highschool... Worms! No one will see that coming! Okay so evil space worms come and what does Ball do... what do the worms do for that matter, neither of them have arms... dammit. Space zombies! They fight with sweet sweet space zombies! On second thought maybe zombies are getting to over done... after spending so much time designing the hunters to attract the hipster comunity it would be a shame to been seen as selling out now. No, not Zombies... "Formerly humans filled with light and sentience"... yeah, more like talking Jaco lanterns! Okay so we need aliens to play as and fight... Good guys 1. Humans 2. Blue Humans 3. Green Hum.... no, Robot Humans! Bad guys 4. Robots 5. Space Lobsters 6. Space Turtles 7. Space Spiders Origin stories... meh, later. This was really hard... I think we've got enough for a game here!

Finally The Grimoire translated for people who hasnt read it yet. This will be good for the people wanting to know more about the lore. Seeing that bungie is quite open with this now than before, we can assume one thing, the epic destiny story will be upon us soon. And in time the theme of the game... "Become Legend" will be in sight. We're all in for a ride i believe.

I wonder if Destiny 2 will have the Hive go their original path and eventually go through a metamorphosis into those epic looking Moth beings. That would be such a waste of that incredible concept art if not, plus it made so much sense for them to eventually become Moths - drawn to the light. MOTH PEOPLE!

5 RepliesPretty good read, save for a few small points... No mention of the connection between Hive and Vex. No mention of Nokris and the fact that Oryx's sisters are still out there. Only a brief mention of Ahamkara, and no mention of their manipulations of Skolas.

I'm not going to lie, it's interesting as hell... it just seems it's taking a REALLY long time to not learn much post-revival. I'm hoping we make a massive jump going forward into Destiny 2.

Great read, really just clarified the general story that I knew, transforming it from a jumbled mess of memories, facts, and missions into a coherent story.
