I personally like the idea, however I feel Bungie wanted to get rid of it as 2 was apparently too unbalanced and you could shadestep out of most situations

I understand that was the idea, but currently, as it stands, shadestep is not usable. From here on out, it is almost useless. if people find one to be enough, so be it, if not, then they can use an exotic slot to get it to 2. So I think that would keep their side of it, as well as ours. right?

Everyone will just use the exotic to get two. All your solution would accomplish is making your exotic the go to equipment choice for nightstalkers. It's the best option by far. 2 consecutive shadesteps was deemed OP by the devs for a reason. It made it possible to survive in situations where another player clearly outplayed you. One is useful for escaping behind cover if used properly.

I exclusively use double fusions on my sunsinger. That doesn't mean it's the optimal choice. The vast majority of players will use what gives them the greatest advantage. It's human nature.

You make a point. I find 1 Shadestep pretty useless tbh. You move maybe 3m and then straighy back up frozen. I think using an exotic slot might be the go Ses reasonable at least

that is exactly what I was thinking. 1 is useless and makes you more vulnerable than less. Glad we could see eye to eye mate.
