This is my first Dark Souls game and I wish I could get my money back already. I understand the games supposed to be hard but I can't even come close to beating the very first boss

Sounds like someone needs to git gud and praise the sun.
\[T]/
Stay close and roll slightly to the side when he attacks. Get one or two hits but save enough energy to do a roll.
-
I could help. But if you can't get passed ludex then wait till you reach the next boss!

Edited by The Rookie: 4/30/2016 6:15:49 AMGit gud. My strategy was to wait til he did a jump attack and then give him 2-3 light attacks. At stage 2 stay close and mash dodge and light attacks trying to stay behind him. Watch out when he does a stomp attack just dodge away from him and then get back under him. Took me like 3 tries til I got him and to figure out his attacks
-
You beat him yet?
-
Took me a few times with him (don't laugh) because I didn't know how to deal with phase 2. Just stay close and mash the bumper
-
Roll into his attacks but slightly to the side and get a few hits in then roll back. This works for both stages just repeat this and you should be good to go
-
I really, really, want to make fun of you, but then I remember that I died 50 times in The Forest of Fallen Giants. I killed Iudix Gundyr on my first try, though. You will get better, I swear.

Edited by The First Aifos: 4/29/2016 10:17:26 PMStill stuck? I believe passwords allow for summons at any level, and scales summons down to host's level. If you're still stuck on Monday, and my Xbox will let me online, I'd gladly assist you. \[T]/ Edit; just realized you can't. Sorry for false offer. :(

Honestly that is the hardest tutorial boss of the ds series
-
The biggest thing is to be patient and not burn through all of your stamina by rolling around like a madman. During both of his phases (as long as you keep enough distance) he will do a jumping/lunging maneuver towards you. When he does this just time it right and roll straight towards him and to the left. Depending on where you land you should be able to get two to three hits on him. Rinse and repeat and you should have no problem.

It's really a great game but the learning curve is immense. Keep trying. Good luck

My lil brother beat him his first try.

4 RepliesI beat it oh my first try. My friend also beat it on his first try and this is his first souls game.
I played dark souls one.
1 ReplyOkay so tips for the newbie. 1: Pick a knight. It is honestly the best class for beginners. That or the Pyromancer. I would go with the Knight personally. 2: Dodging is all about timing. In the first phase of the fight his attacks are well telegraphed. When he swings dodge either into the attack or backwards. NEVER DODGE IN THE SAME DIRECTION OF THE ATTACK 3: don't always rely on your shield. Running out of stamina is a death sentence. Keep your shield up, but when you get it, lower it to recover your stamina quicker. 4: I know this sounds obvious but use the right analogue stick to lock onto a target. The amount of newbies that dont know this is astonishing. 5: The second phase of any boss is always the hard bit. Their attacks are stronger and more unpredictable. In your case always try and stay behind the boss. 6: Don't get cocky. You might just want to get that last hit in but usually it ends up in you getting squashed. Those are the best tips I can give for beginners. The rest comes with practice.

Just make sure to time your rolls properly. Don't bother with blocking his attacks, as they'll deal a lot of stamina damage and might even break your guard. When the second phase comes, stay close to him. E-z p-z.

1 ReplyEdited by Stickman Al: 4/29/2016 7:34:45 PMYou probably just need to farm the area and level up a bit before you fight the boss. If it's like the first two games you should be able to save at a bonfire and all the enemies will respawn. Kill them and use the souls to level up. Do it a few times and you'll be able to take the boss down more easily.

2 RepliesGuy comes on here to vent/look for advice, and more than half the comments here are people stroking their own gamer egos. Very helpful souls community, very helpful. It really pains me to see whats become of it once souls became mainstream.

Get good? Joking aside, it is always about the right tactics. I'm the first phase, be evasive, learn the boss's move sets, and pick your time to attack. Don't get greedy when dishing out damage. Be patient, no more than two hits and then evade. When he transforms, for the second phase, get in close, and stay close. Watch your green bar, if it runs out, you briefly become a sitting duck.

Which starting class did you choose?

Git gud.

Step 1:git gud Step2:? Step 3:profit

Beat the guy from walking in circles around him with a shield up. That tactic worked way too well against a number of bosses in the Souls series.
