Lag Switching, The new visitor on my network, and Making the crucible great (Warning: Wall of Text)

So yesterday was just a normal day of getting together with my friends to play Trials. If I usually see red bar superstars on the opposing team before the match I usually spam the bad connection report and a few seconds later they go green (thus indicating they must be lag switching) but a few matches in I forgot to report anyone that may have been doing the same and didn't notice that something was wrong until it was too late. A few rounds in, we're losing and it happens, I'm shooting at the same guy and it doesn't seem to be doing anything. He runs into the wall as I melee and shoot to no avail. Then the screen goes black with loading icon, and various messages appear like Contacting Destiny Servers and You've been disconnected from the game world. My only thought is I got lag switched and lagged out of the game. So I try to log back in, can't connect, I look at my wi-fi connection for my PS4, it gives the error that the router is too far away or weak signal...I'm in the same room as my router. I try to connect via LAN, still no internet. I text my friends that are still on they say to just restart my router in order to reconnect. I try to do so and notice there is a new connection or entry in my admin page for the router. The connection's name shows up as "pussy". I try to block the connection or remove its rights to connect but it still shows up. I restart my router, the connection still shows up, I try to get back on to Destiny and I succeed, but at what cost, that was yesterday. Today, I decided to see if it still shows up which it does. So I decide the best course of action is to reset my router and manually approve all the IPs that connect to it. Low and behold the first IP to connect is the connection I tried to remove yesterday. As I write this, i'm also blocking the MAC address of that connection/device. My PS4 is not on and I had removed the power cable and ethernet cable since yesterday. At this point I'm frustrated and try to search online to see if there are any solutions to solving this problem and getting this lag switcher's connection off my home network but the only items that appear in the search engine are "How to create a lag switch" or "How to effectively beat anyone in any multiplayer game without trying". Now I understand, some people suck at video games. Not everyone is top tier and when you have winners you have sore losers than want to do anything to gain a competitve edge and "get good". And before you go and say, "ah this guy is a hypocrite, he prolly sucks himself and is just butthurt he got beat so bad" to that I say I'm not the best player in the slightest. I've been flawless only twice and that is because the team I run with tries to have fun more than anything, we honestly don't go into a card thinking we'll get to the Lighthouse and I do my part to report bad connections, I've never used the cheater report once. But I digress because this post isn't about competitive fairness. This post is about addressing a problem I experienced. This is obviously a security issue and we've been told that just reporting as it happens will get the job done. So I would expect that at the time I lagged out, someone on Bungie's networking team noticed what happened and is doing their due diligence to seek out the problem and the offender and righteously punish him/her effectively. But if this is a constant threat every time I play a competitive game mode, is it really worth still playing? I like Destiny, I've been playing since launch, while all my friends went to other games I still find myself playing this game. I love the crucible, it's honestly full of a varying community of people that just want to enjoy themselves. That being said, where people want to have fun, there will always be people that want to have fun in a different way. They want to have fun by torturing other people trying to have fun. Is that a good way to have fun? I wouldn't know. With all this being said I initially ask if anyone has experienced the same and though I know this isn't a networking 101 or cybersecurity forum, I ask if you can help with solving my initial problem or directing to a place where I may find the help I need. More so, I'm putting this out there so that everyone can read my story and maybe learn from what I experienced. Most people will say, "dont play trials if you can handle the heat noob" and "stop whining like a baby". But to those that actually hear me out I have a task for you, a task that Bungie has told you to take upon yourself since they addressed the cheating issue. Report as often as you can, if you see something fishy going on in your match, hit that report button. I know it may risk losing the match to take the time out to go into your options screen and do so but it further improves the game for not just yourself but everyone else so that we can keep Destiny alive and enjoy our time we spend in the game world. I have faith in this community and in Bungie that a day will come that this will never be a threat to not just myself but everyone else that plays this game ever again. Till that day comes, thank you for the support and I'll see you in the Tower. TL;DR Got lag switched, serious network security issue, bungo please help, bungie community I trust you
