Im not entirely sure if this issue continues to be a problem for noob players like myself that have just barely gotten a copy of Taken King but I ran into the exact same issue with downloading the massive update. Now to skip the arduous whining that occurred over the several days it took while attempting every theory/method/instructions I could find online to solve the psn/ps3 download Error 80710723. This is exactly where I went and what I did in order to overcome the dreaded error code and download Destiny's massive update. First up I thought it was an hardware issue (newsflash it wasn't but I was willing to consider every issue so I formatted my ps3 so that it would have more than enough space to download the updates) I did delete the cache, cookies, and history from my ps3 internet browser. Next I turned off the media server connection in the PS3 Settings tab. I followed up by watching this youtube video and changed my DNS server settings in the Network Settings Tab. See Above. Also note that I did use a WIRED connection; I did not try it WIRELESS because I wanted to follow the exact instructions of the youtube video. See above. Once I completed these steps, I found that I was capable of overcoming the dreaded ERROR code when downloading the updates and haven't run into a issue since. Ive since updated my network settings to WIRELESS but kept the DNS settings from the youtube video. Its been 3 days and still no issue. I hope this helps someone. Good luck Guardians.
