This Week on the Bungie Forums 3/15/2016: An Update for DeeJ

Since Destiny launched, the former Weekly Update and now TWaB has consistently been the blog equivalent of a Seinfeld episode. They're about nothing. From the first major drama to arise when TDB locked out content, thru the optional matchmaking saga and Luke Smith's TTK release brain meltdown; when there's an issue that the community wants answers on, the Bungie response is to ignore it until we get sick of talking about it. And the bitch of it is, it works. We lit a fire on these forums for omm for 6 months, even got Tassi to weigh in... It got added to the wish list and ignored ever since to where it's barely brought up even though the game still desperately needs it. But just because it lets Bungie get by without answering the tough questions, doesn't mean it's a sound approach and the shitstorm that followed Deej's little barb last week should have surprised no one. DeeJ, many of us have tried for two years to get you to participate in this community. We've tried to engage you in posts and we've stated till we were blue in the face, that Bungie need to not only say they're listening, but to keep the dialogue going both directions. The whole community going ape shit over your "your move" comment and link didn't happen because you said something terrible. It was a joke and you were innocently poking fun at a post made to you in jest. The problem is, when in two years you've NEVER bothered to take the time to be a part of this community that you're supposed to manage; when you for 70 some months have said "soon" and treat our legitimate concerns like -blam!-ing jokes; when you don't try to fit in, in any way, shape or form including bothering to play the game... You apparently don't get to post shit like you're our buddy. Jokes and poking fun fly when you're a part of the group. Not when you're a suit who acts too good for them. You brought Cozmo on to be the good cop and to play the role you don't want to and for that we're grateful because he has mended bridges for a lot of us and he has taken the time to be not just a community manager, but a community member as well. It's time you learn from him and take steps to being a part of the community as well. I'm not going to say (and disagree with posts that do) that you shouldn't have your job, because I think it entails much more than dealing with us. That said, if you cannot understand that the weekly Fluffdates are broken -blam!-ing records of bullshit nonsense and you honestly think they're clever and the whole "soon" shit is funny, then you need to turn that responsibility over to Cozmo or another Bungie employee that is willing to post updates that talk with us and not to us. I told you once before that we're not asking for the world. All we're asking is that you acknowledge things that are trending concerns on YOUR forums. Right now hit detection is a huge concern as well as questions on when SRL and other content might come back. How hard is it to at least address one community concern a week and let us know what you're doing about them or that you are aware of the concern? The relationship between Bungie and the community is not healthy and it hasn't been for a long time. Bungie was built on their relationship with their fans in the Halo days and I don't think any of us who were here then could ever have imagined the distrust that exists today. This Week at Bungie brings another chance to let the community feel involved. Another chance to let the community know we're heard. Another chance to bridge the divide of animosity that's festered for two years. TWaB brings you another chance to be a part of this community, DeeJ. Your move.
