Patch 2.2.1 Is For the Most Part, a Success!

After playing the Crucible last night following patch 2.2.1, I do believe the patch has worked as intended, with very few negative side-effects. As most of us know, special ammo was tweaked so that guardians spawn in in 3v3 gamemodes without special ammo. Along with that was the inclusion of Crimson Doubles and Freelance which is a gamemode for solo players only. There were some bug fixes as well. Full patch notes are linked. Special Ammo The special ammo "nerf" has made it so that special ammo for shotguns, snipers and fusion rifles only, will not be available when guardians first spawn in in 3v3 gamemodes. This was supposed to encourage more primary gunplay and tactical play in order to secure the special ammo and gain the advantage. This works as intended as I have seen myself, my teammates and the opposition using their primaries significantly more often than before. Those who disagree with this change believe it tends to promote camping, but I don't see this as entirely true. What guardians are and should be doing to gain the advantage in this new version of the Crucible, is to position themselves strategically around the ammo crate to lock the area down and secure the advantage. This isn't camping, but playing smart and tactically. Those who disagree with this, obviously have no idea what they're talking about. Crimson Doubles This interesting, albeit small and I must put emphasis on the SMALL for truth's sake, gamemode is more or less, a 2v2 Elimination mode with some sweeter and more colorful rewards. The problem with it, is the size. It's simply too small. Maybe it's just right for casual players, but even then, you'd have to only play a max of 1-3 hours in the week to complete everything there is to complete. Next time, I sure hope the content released is significantly larger and more fun. Freelance 6v6 & 3v3 I have not had a chance to play this so I cannot comment on it's quality, but it sounds very appealing to solo players as it's a solo players only playlist. These are my quick thoughts on patch 2.1.1 released yesterday afternoon. Personally, I think Destiny is taking a step in the right direction, however there is a lot of things to work on, both on Bungie's side and on our side to make this game the way it was supposed to be. Good hunting Guardians!
