Can someone explain the sudden desire for vanilla gear?
Call me "out of the loop" but it seems that everyone suddenly wants old vanilla gear for some reason, especially the LDR 5001. Can someone explain?

People have had to delete old gear because lack of vault space and there was no indication that Vanilla Gear would be upgradeable. Now we know you can upgrade any legendary piece of gear people want an attempt at their old favourite gear. If you're lucky enough to still have the DB Efrideet's Spear you can roll it to Double Down which basically gives you all your ammo when you spawn, which is perfect for Trials.

Because before HoW the best perks in the middle tier didnt have negative side effects, like a larger mag will give you less stability, fieldscout just gave more ammo.

2 RepliesEdited by Miro_1325: 8/3/2015 12:06:04 AMThere is a rumour going around that in the taken king ALL items no matter their rarity can be used for all levels so for example you could use the kvostov to kill crota etc. as they were intended to be before the game was released. So all of a sudden people want the vanilla gear and exclusive rare gear.

Field Scout is one reason, an awesome perk which is not available on new weapons.

Many of the vanilla guns are better than the ones available now. [spoiler]Also, LDR is from TDB, not the vanilla game.[/spoiler]

He grabbed the bar as if it was a stick, pulled it off my screen and loaded it into his Gjallarhorn, He then jumped into the sky, a quartic jump, 5 JUMPS, he got so high he absorbed the sun and then in one swoop shot the disconnect bar into Skolas tearing him apart into nothing. The wolfpack rounds then proceed to swarm and destroy the mines we were supposed to [i]dismantle[/i] He stayed with us all the way to the treasure room but did not speak. Finally he urinated on the large chest and turned to us and said [b]"become legend gaurdian."[/b] [i]SmoggyPluto has left your fireteam[/i]. speechless me and my fireteam all opened the pee-stained chest... I bought destiny in march, so i never had a chance to get vanilla gear :-( I would love to get my hands on a the devil you know and a lord high fixer.

With the rise of finally using Etheric Light, old weapons that were top of the line are now outclassing all of the HOW dlc weapons.

A few reasons I think. Most of the weapons there to a degree, can out shine some of the new ones. Then there both collectors who want the valuable and older veterans who remember the old days where those weapons were plentiful.

Most HoW weapons are statistically inferior and have restricted perks Vanilla and TDB armors are said to look better I agree with both above statements

4 RepliesThe weapons were cool collectibles and some of them were very good. But the armor looked so much better than it does currently. For example the Titan vanguard gear made them a bladed transformer. Hunters were assassin like and had cool cloaks.
