Fox News Elizabeth Hasselbeck: "Sandra Bland could've used cigarette as a weapon"

Is this her pathetic excuse to defend the cop? He was completely in the wrong and now she is dead. Fox News is pathetic. What do you think?

  • She's a moron. Like most of the Fox news anchors. Cigarettes are a weapon and pepper spray is essentially a food product. Hoo yah for fair and intelligent journalism.

From what I saw in the video she was moody, and refused to just do what the cop said so she could be on her way. Instead she argued about the cigarette and then not getting out. The cop did do something wrong by not telling her why she was under arrest. But that was after all the crap she pulled when she could have just written detest on the ticket and get in thrown out in court. Guaranteed that cop would have not showed up to her court date and she would have gotten off. Problem solved. But she didn't do that. People need to understand how to deal with cops and what legal rights you have with dealing with them. If she were to ask the cop "am I being detained?" When he asked her to get out, legally the cop would have to say yes or no, and what for. Instead of blaming the cops for everything YOU need to learn how to deal with them. And this is coming from someone who avoids cops like the plague. I hate dealing with them, as many around here are corrupt and kept in power by their families being in the force too (mainly sherrifs), but I do know how to deal with them and what I'm legally allowed to ask them. Something everyone needs to learn about. I've been stopped and profiled plenty of times, I simply ask them, "am I being detained?" They are required to answer that question. If they don't have a legitimate reason I'm free to go. Sure some places have corrupt forces, where I live we certainly do, but it's up to us that citizen to know our legal rights and how to deal with them. If more citizens did this police brutality would drop I feel. Yes the cop did eventually become unruly and rather aggressive over a simple traffic stop, but he wouldn't have if she just complied with him instead of arguing like that.

I agree, pretty much. It's just sad he couldn't have just written her a ticket and sent her on her way.
