Gjallorhorn is virtually useless when trying to kill Atheon unless you want to risk taking damage and dying during the fight - I know there are those who use it for Atheon Hard but I am not one of them.
Gjallorhorn is terrible for Public Events on the Moon - due to small blast radius.
Gjallorhorn is terrible for some POE encounters due to the way rockets proximity explode due to being killed by the architects rather than proximity to enemies. I know this is a game defect but still it sux to die for this reason.
Gjallorhorn works best for Nightfalls and Strikes but not for POE or PVP - I know some love to use their Gjallorhorn for PVP but let's face it there are better choices for PVP simply due to blast radius alone.
I have no issues with the upcoming Gjallorhorn nerf because Gjallorhorn fires and reloads faster than every other rocker launcher. I am ok with a reduction in Wolf Pack damage so long as Gjallorhorn remains an exotic but let's face it there are many better choices for some engagements than the current Gjallorhorn. I am not even sure the Gjallorhorn should even be called an exotic weapon now simply because it has such a small blast radius. There was a time when the Gjallorhorn was a true exotic but only because there were no other launchers with the same fire and reload rates but this is not the case any longer.
I think Bungie should rework the Gjallorhorn to make it back into an exotic by making the following changes:
1. Fire 2 Gjallorhorn rockets at the same time with reduced Wolf Pack damage based on pre-nerf damage values.
2. Reduce the fire and reload rates by 50%.
These changes would increase the damage output and elevate the Gjallorhorn back into exotic status without making it too OP but let's face it an exotic weapon has to be OP in order to be exotic otherwise it's just taking up space in our vaults.

2 RepliesEdited by Bunds1: 7/20/2015 1:54:17 PMYou do appreciate that you can fire rockets when in the bubble form the relic? It's the rockets exploding off your team mates that kill you . Try it sit in front of the relic holder crouch and shut your eyes. It honestly works.

He's right, the best rocket launcher to this date is still Obsidian Mind. I remember when mine dropped from killing Xûr underneath the Vault of Glass.

1) the base stats on gjallarhorn are higher than most launchers. 2) it is the best launcher for pvp. You clearly do not know how to use grenades and horseshoes effectively. 3) it is obviously the most powerful. I use it on arc burn PoE.... That says it all.

2 RepliesGood points, OP! Next time I see a recruitment post saying "Looking for more for moon patrol public events, must have max Gally" I shall direct them to this post.
-
3 RepliesHis 18 thousand kills with gally must mean he hates it he only has 25 thousand rocket kills and 18 thousand are from gally lol
-
Lolz this game is like 90% strikes though.

Such a long post and not a single legitimate reason give as to why ghorn was not best. The only time ghorn is not the best choice is when arc or void burns are involved and it PvP.

I stopped reading at Gjallarhorn is terrible for public events on the moon. This is the dumbest thing I've read on the forums all day and that's saying something.
-
It's amazing for atheon, 5 people with gally and well atheon just disappears, and for eliminating target in poe it is the best

Things Gjallarhorn users say.

Are u a -blam!-ing noob who has no gally
-
What are you talking?
-
Only time is good for is to take down Crota/death singer and any NF with solar. And also to shoot enemy's on patrol
-
2 RepliesBut what do you do if Atheon spawns oversoul? Gjallarhorn takes it out pretty fast and the supplicants usually don't come near if you're holding it so it's the best weapon in my opinion
-
Its spelled Gjallarwhistle.

8 RepliesEdited by 氷水啼エジル・ギュミ: 7/21/2015 5:42:10 PM-blam!- the Ghorn. I have two but I never even use it for PvP so I don't see the complaint there. I really only use it in missions where a solar burn has appeared. The rocket launcher truth is where it's at. I put my velocity as low as it can be with the highest blast radius for a slow track and big AoE so that the grenades and horshoes perk will mostly guarantee a hit due to close proximity even if they try to avoid my rocket. I feel it's the more OP weapon in Crucible. And by the way, just would like to add on that you're wrong about the atheon part. Because a team of Gjallarhorn's can take out atheon in one turn. Two turns if one person has it and is quick enough to fire off more than 7 shots w/ a heavy ammo synth. But to do that, the gally user must already been outside holding down the gate. I do hope that people don't really assume that you HAVE to stand in the bubble. the only people who do are the ones who were teleported in the first place. I never run into the bubbble if I wasn't teleported. It's easier to use ghorn for this situation.

1 Reply"Exotics were always ment to feel OP and look OP but never be truly OP" Straight from the devs. Why do you think exxotics and legendary weapons have the same damage ratings? Because they are supposed to be on the same level,. with the difference being that exotics have perks that can only be on that specific weapon. Also why do you think exotics and legendaries share some of the same perks? If Bungie wanted exotics to be the end all be all weapons they would have made them stronger then everything else with perks that nothing else in the game can every get.
