Why is no one talking about this?
From my understanding, it has been confirmed that all the gear that we have worked so hard to obtain and level will become useless in the taken king expansion. Your armor and weapons will be unable to reach the new light level.
I'm sorry but did I miss something here? They JUST fixed the problem of us not being able to use our favorite weapons and now they're reintroducing the problem? I thought maybe they learned a few things but apparently not
Since a lot of you are coming up with the same idiotic response I give you this statement: maybe they should make gear worth using so that the fatebringer or g horn isn't such an obvious choice. It's something called build variety an playstyle preference
I guess a lot of you want to go back to being clones of everyone else smh
This guy explains vertical versus horizontal progression. Now keep in mind, that most games that implement horizontal progression have a slight mix of vertical, that is you reach the set level cap:

What's your source? I did read somewhere that something similar will happen for destiny 2 but not for destiny 1.5.

The thing I hate is that I'm torn between deletin useless weapons like auto rifles but I have a feeling one day I will regret it since Bunjie are always changing the weapons!

AFTER THE TAKEN KING, more expansions will come, thus increasing light levels, so give it time, and a bubble will appear under the first bubble that is named "ASEND" and it will say.... "ASEND TO YEAR 2" (NO WAY!!) yes.. It will happen, yes I know for a fact. It will just require another "future material" as in ethric light, to ASEND to the next year.

They never said that weapons wouldn't be upgradable again. The upgrade says that you'll be able to upgrade the damage to the highest available [i]in year one.[/i] In other words, when TTK drops, the newest damage cap will be much higher, and you'll likely have a new method of upgrading your weapons again. Don't make stupid assumptions when you can make perfectly reasonable ones based on actual in game texts.

3 RepliesBecause allowing people to ascend gear and re-roll weapons were lazy implementations. This was a "selling point" for the HoW, but really boiled down to the fact that there was little-to-no content with the latest DLC. Being able to ascend weapons like Fatebringer and VoC completely removes the need to acquire any new gear. The only way to phase these weapons out would be to create stronger perks on weapons, but then you run into balance issues, and balancing is not one of Bungie's best characteristic as a developer. Of course there is going to be a large backlash about taking away peoples' Fatebringers, giving them back, and taking them away again, but this is the move they have to make if they really want to keep this game relevant for several years. Otherwise, they are going to be making Destiny 4, and all weapons/armor at that point will be completely superfluous because people keep ascending gear they received in vanilla Destiny.

Bungie might make it were exotic gear and legendary armour can be asended in the taken king so we all dont look alike and so new wepons have a chance to be used

The weapons wouldn't be a problem at 365 right? This is just like using vog weapons when dark below came out.

So all my grinding for IB weapons and gear on all 3 characters is for nothing. If I can't ascend my hard earned gear in the TTK I'm out.

5 RepliesIt's a bullshit way to make everyone think that they're getting something new. It's just re skins of all the old weapons. Then they'll make you run all the old strikes with their new Reskinned enemies. All so you can get to max level and start grinding the new raid. This game is a -blam!-ing joke. 10 year plan my ass. Buy Destiny 5 Legendary edition and get it used and you might (big emphasis on might) get the game Bungie envisioned before e3 2013.
