So Luke Smith (Lead designer) basically said that Bungie know's it's screwing over the fans/current players and that they're perfectly fine with doing so. (Original article: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-06-22-destiny-the-taken-king-director-defends-40-expansion-price-tag
Does that change your mind about buying TTK? Comment below.
38% of players are pre-ordering digital content (admittedly, I don't know why you'd pre-order unlimited digital content)
31% of players are waiting for reviews so they don't get screwed over again.
31% of players are done with Destiny.
I felt compelled to point out that games like Skyrim give you easily ten times the content for a $30 expansion, $10 less than the base TTK price.
DeeJ: Simple question for you; come September 15th 2015 are you reducing Destiny's DLC on XBL/PSN to the $5-$10 range and the base Destiny game down to $10? If not you are forcing some day one players to buy TDB and/or HoW for $20-$35/$40 and then charging them $40 additionally for TTK. This is my major issue. It's price gouging. I'd appreciate it if you or someone at Bungie would settle this issue.
Either set TTK to $20 or reduce the price of the pre-existing DLC.
Additional info in! Someone has unearthed E3 video footage from 2013 when Destiny was first revealed. (https://youtu.be/uHhR3kkf1uQ) Watch it yet? If not you really should since it shows the 3 "new" emotes (clap was confirmed in Luke Smith interview). E3 2013 people! This was even more content ripped out of vanilla Destiny to be sold off as DLC but this time it's behind a $40 premium edition paywall.
Disclaimer: Any money thrown at the screen will be donated to starving children in a third world nation.
Additional info per weekly update: Bungie is selling the digital goods from the collector's edition for $20 USD. That's the same price increase for the disc version of vanilla to Collector's Edition but doesn't come with the physical items (worth much more than some token emotes, shaders, and class items) that new players get for the same price increase. Thoughts?

I don't much care for Skyrim, but I'm waiting before buying the Expansion. I might not buy it. It's a shame because I wanted to see their franchise grow, but there will be other games.
-
4 RepliesYou sir or madam are an idiot. While Luke Smith in no way handled that interview properly Bungie knows better than to screw over the Day One population
-
6 RepliesSo you force people to select the preorder option if they dont agree with you, and then you make them seem stupid? I'm not preordering it, but i will be spending $80 on it to get all the shit
-
4 Repliesnah I'm done with destiny. feel like I'm free now, it's great.

I'm getting it.
-
1 ReplyI will probably buy it, Destiny is my game and I don't see that changing for a while. I just need to figure out how to not get screwed in the UK pricing of £40 vs the American's $40.
-
1 ReplyYea I'm still gonna pre order but just the 40$ one .
-
People are up in arms about a few dances.......in a shooter. Um...
-
We should be grateful that Bungie is giving us any extra content at all. Why wouldn't you want to pre-order? You will still be getting content any way. I dont know about you but I'll be pre-ordering the CE and spend my money on something of value and worth.
-
This poll really does not show the Truth. Most people here are hungry for attention and they get it by saying they gate this game. Some people man, some people. Everyone I play with will buy TTK. If these polls were correct, only one in third of my friends would be buying it.
take this with some doubt
-
I'm on the fence. I won't be pre-ordering it. I won't be buying CE number two. But I haven't decided if I'm done with the game entirely.
-
2 RepliesYes it does. Luke smith is a greedy pos. He couldnt even give an explanation on why we have to re buy everything to get the dance emotes other that understand its value?? Bullshiit! Quit lying and say that we want more money and theres nothing you can do about it. Its like that Southpark ep with the boys are dealing with the internet provider
-
3 RepliesI'm preordering but not for all the unnecessary extra crap it comes with. I'll just get the base $39.99 DLC. And Luke Smith is in no way a PR representative. His answers to the questions are so blown out of proportion it's sad.
-
Luke Smith is one guy representing an a group that is not of a uniform mindset. And he was right about one thing: it is about a players judgment of value when it comes to expansions. I enjoy Destiny, quite a bit. People can attack Bungie ad hominem all they want, but what I care about is the product, and so far, I like that product.
-
There's no good reason to preorder this dlc. Blows my mind that people still do this.
-
1 ReplyI heard the Year One collectors edition is coming with some lube
-
I couldn't care less what he says. If I find the game fun I will buy it. The owner of Chik-Fil-A is extremely racist and I am not for what he said at all but his chicken sandwiches are F'ing delicious so I will continue eating them.
-
I'm hyped for but hype can kill a man's wallet so I'll just wait on more reviews about it to see if it's really worth 75 bucks.
-
I don't care about Luke Smith, I don't care about the Collector's edition.
-
2 Replies
Pre-ordering it

3344 votes
This is -blam!-ing disgusting. How can anyone be complacent with buying what they already have for a little new content? All people are doing is saying "ok [insert game dev name here], -blam!- me".
-
1 Reply33 percent are done but are still on the forums......
-
I'm not pre-ordering but I am still buying the dlc. I don't care too much about the extra stuff and everyone at E3 had good things to say about the Taken King
-
1 ReplyPersonally, I feel I got waaaaaaay more than my money's worth with the prior two DLC's. Entertainment value alone is well worth it. Even if you only put in 200-300 hours of gameplay, is all that time spend doing raids, strikes, and PvP with your friends not worth it? New players get a reduced price yes, but they also haven't racked up all the weapons, armour, and other random novelties the game has to offer. Not a big deal to me at all. When all is said and done, if you are a fan of the game, and see the replay value, 40 bucks really is a fair price. We are promised a big expansion fellas. Let's not get our panties in a bunch over something like this.
-
2 RepliesI will probably get yelled at for this but what happened with Luke Smith? I get it that they are asking for a lot of money but who is Luke smith and why do people not like him
-
WTF not I mean look at other Collectors Editions. I payed over 100$ for WatchDogs And cough, cough i ranted a lot after i played that crap
