Pricing Strat for TTK is a joke, and Luke Smith comes off as a completely arrogent asshat in this Eurogamer Interview.
Seriously, how much of a slap in the face is this pricing plan to all the day 1 players who bought your crappy DLC season pass and have been repeatedly screwed? I think the only thing worse than your pricing plan is Luke Smith's dismissive and shitty attitude. The dude is obviously a really bad writer judging by the "cinematic story telling" that is the vanilla game, and he's horrible at doing PR and damage control. Y'all need to lock him in a back room so he stops burning the goodwill your company has spent years building, if not just completely fire him because he's a joke.

I just wish they took a minute to think about the marketing plan before running n like a child at recess telling everyone they have this new content and for a unrealistic price and expecting us to just throw money at them . I really wish they had more veteran developers and company heads to make sure this kind of overpriced bullshit never happens again . Technically they could have not mentioned price at all if they still hadn't had the details worked out and to just assume we are all addicted little kids with rich parents or lazy fat old rich men with nothing to do with our money and time to just throw it at them . When I bought the expansion pass back in February I was 2 days late from there stupid promotion for the sparrow . Yeah that stung a bit but it was my fault . But now to do this kind of slack ass business model of always keepthe player in the dark but expect cash for unfinished lazy programmed garbage set at unreasonable prices is just mind numbing . I don't see why they have to split the community so much with every purchase

Vets that own the previous DLCs can get VIP bonuses with a $40 TTK only DLC. Or you can pay extra and get a physical copy. So yeah, new players pay $60 for the game with all of the updates 1 year later. We paid for content we were actively playing and Bungie was supporting all year. New players will have to pay for the Comet DLCs just like we did. You can't expect a software company to penalize new players with the cost of every single update from day one just to start. Crazy talk.

(Summons in a group of npc guardians) 2. GIVE US YOUR MONEY!! half the glimmer of all guardians is taken. (Killing smith returns the glimmer)

They try to play dumb and say they're just trying to provide something unique and special in the collector's edition for newcomers, but they know damn well what they're doing. I feel sorry for people dumb enough to take the bait. But it's also those people that give gaming companies a reason to continue pulling crap like this.

6 RepliesI mean, lets just look at the article through a critical lens. Tom Philips, Eurogamer interviewer/writer, did go into the article with a bit of hostility, and demanding answers. Now I understand that he had a job to do, but as an industry vet, and belonging to a major industry site, he should've known better, and known that Luke couldn't legally answer questions about the content of TK, and pricing (since Activision sets the price). The announcement at E3, was for E3. More will be announced at Game Developers Convention/Tokyo Game Show, through Bungie, and through Sony, due to the fact that theres a 4month drought from HoW to the release of TK. The better move/solution/announcement, would've been to announce TK at E3, like they did, but [b]without[/b] Prices attached, then seen how the community wouldve priced the content after each announcement/Reveal at E3/GDC/TGS.

From what I noticed, Smith was equally frustrated throughout the interview, as the person interviewing him kept prodding at the exclusive content out of spite, rather than ask any important questions. Ya, I'm kind of upset with how Smith reacted to the interview, but I'm more pissed about the asshat dealing a couple of punches over the dead horse. Both can smile and act as friendly as they want, but they both acted like children. Luke Smith does irritate me, but that horrible interview with the host makes me not want to read anything from Eurogamer. If I wanted over emotional drama laced into new information on a upcoming game, I'd read IGNs biased reviews instead.
