Year 1 Weapons Obsolete After DLC!?!?!?
Ok Bungie I'm just going to call you out on your comment about using the same weapons for 10 years as boring.
[b]Obviously if you're worried about us using the same weapons for 10 years your clearly not placing good enough perks on new weapons to make us stop using the old weapons. Guess your out of ideas??? We're not stupid that's all you had to say.[/b]

So between the first game and TDB nobody asked for ascending... but between HoW and TTK its being demanded? I wish they never allowed ascending in the first place cause then we wouldn't always EXPECT it. I think bungie needs to give us ascending later on, maybe a month after TTK's release. That way we can get a feel for the new guns and decide if we still wanna keep our old ones.

I think they may allow ascending later on, but want us to try out these new guns FIRST. We will still be able to use old guns in pvp, which a lot of people should be happy about.

Yeah, I am not very happy about this AT ALL. I mean TECHNICALLY we PAID for all the weapons we got! And not just with our money but with our time. A simple and elegant solution to this problem would be to allow us to ascend our old gear (happy Y1 Guardians) but make it kind of difficult (generates gameplay) and give us a museum of sorts so we can hold/showcase year one weapons (so everyone can see how badass we are) and keep them outside our vault (potential Y2 vault space issue solved). Once we've met the requirements to ascend a year one weapon or piece of gear, we can pull it from the museum and ascend it! This way we get to keep and use the weapons we worked so hard to get, and we still get to collect the new stuff. Its a win win. Yeah?

This is the reason why I will quit Destiny for now. Year one grinder, year one lover. But we get kicked in the nuts for buying directly. Everything we earned hardly is pointless now. New players get the stuff in days, less grinding, less effort. So why put in the time into Destiny, when I can get the full experience end of next summer/fall sometime after the next two DLCs have been released. Buy it cheaper, have less effort and [b]waste less time![/b]

2 RepliesI am hoping this is not the case, but sadly i feel it will be. The reason the etheric light says highest level for year one is they probably intend to cycle out the old stuff. [spoiler]And i have an ugly feeling this will include exotics as well[/spoiler]

That's a great point. If the new weapons were awesome I would most certainly not be using vanilla weapons. The hassle of getting them to drop and then leveling and Etheric light. No thank you if they were awesome I would just take the 365 (insert weapon here) and use that instead. But I don't. Because they're not good by comparison. So Bungie's answer. Instead of making comparable weapons. We just won't let you use these anymore.
