Give me a good argument for atheism that has nothing to do with Christianity or the Abrahamic God. I think some of you have forgotten that other theistic religions exist.
EDIT: Let me rephrase: give me a good reason that a god, not just the Abrahamic God, but any god in general could not exist, or probably does not exist.
EDIT: Some of you disgust me. I ask for you to educate me on your point of view, and you insist on starting a flame war instead. Thanks to those who are peacefully stating their opinions.

There's never been an instance where a god has made himself apparent to me, I don't think if nobody told me/taught me about him such a thing would've never occurred to me

2 RepliesNot an athiest but the double slit experiment seems to suggest consciousness is just the illusion of animation.

There's no proof showing gods exist or any proof showing gods don't exist therefore I'm an atheist
-
1 ReplyI'm not Atheist because there is no god, I'm Atheist because I don't believe in a god.

1 ReplyWell, gods aren't going around messing shit up when we make fun of them We haven't had any come down yet We haven't found the "palace" of (the) god(s) Why should we believe they exist?
-
Because the idea that any being has the ability to spontaneously control any part of nature with no effort, whenever he/she/it pleases, is absulutely ludicrous.
-
5 RepliesBecause the universe does not require oneto exist. A god is unnecessary.

1 ReplyThere is no proof any higher power exist. You must be innocent first to be guilty.

We can't prove there is a god

I'd like to see someone disprove The Outsider.

2 RepliesAlmost everyone in this thread, regardless of what position, seems to not understand the burden of proof.

2 RepliesCan't prove a negative. Logical fallacies are strong with this one.

That's pretty accurate.

17 RepliesEdited by Dark Xedrix: 6/16/2015 10:13:10 PMI genuinely have a problem when religious people fob me off with the excuse "it's gods will" when I say this: God loves everyone. What about the 11,000,000 people who died in the Holocaust (let's not forget, friends, that 10% - 1.1 MILLION of those were children. 11 million people were slaughters like animals because they were considered to be abnormal in the eyes of the Nazï rule. Now the problem I've got is that how can an all loving, all powerful, all knowing God allow the massacre of millions of people? A Christian would say "It's the work of Satan" but someone who is all powerful can stop Satan from allowing these things to happen or stop Satan from existing in the first place. At this point a Christian would say "that would be messing with free will" but if God is all powerful then he can just stop the Devil from being without screwing around with free will because (again) he's all powerful. Sorry just had to rant at that. Anyone who has an answer I'd like to hear it because I'm genuinely confused by the Christian belief.
If tl:dr summary: -The Holocaust disproves Gods existence IMO - God can kill Satan without messing around with free will - Need answers
13 RepliesStop asking me why something doesn't exist. And start telling me why it does...

It's pretty simple, actually. If there is no evidence to suggest something, then why believe it? It's the same reason that we don't believe that unicorns are real: there is no evidence. Why should the idea of God be any different?

2 RepliesAll gods die eventually. Whether they exist or not everyone loses faith and jumps on the next bandwagon.

Because there is no proof of a god of any sort yet you people blindly follow.... Really?

22 RepliesIt is unnecessary to disprove that which has never been proven. It's why you're free to believe in Santa, but Santa most likely does not exist. You can never say Santa can be disproven, just highly improbable.

3 RepliesThe burden of proof lies with you, not us. I don't have to argue for atheism, you have to argue for religion.

2 RepliesYou're a mud crutch rank weed coward.

Sure, gods and goddesses could exist. I don't completely dismiss the existence of gods or goddesses it's just that I don't see any evidence that doesn't have a more plausible explanation for their existence. On a not entirely unrelated note, if I were forced to choose a religion that wasn't a sarcastic one (pastafarianism, jedism, etc) it would be wiccanism, one of the easier religions to disprove.
