I am one too. But are any of you kinda angry that all these new kids act like they are so boss being level 34. But they have no clue how to beat a vog on hard, or how hard it was to get level 30 before.
I bring this up because i was arguing with a level 34 guy because he thought he knew more about the game simply because i was a level 33.
I showed him some of my guns like the shadow price and devil you know. I told him about the beta and how the grind was a pain before the dark below. And so much more... In the end he figured out that he didn't know shit about destiny.

36 RepliesI'm glad that there's no more forever 29 issues in place. Leveling is easier, which makes the game more accessible but it's still not so easy that it just gets handed out. You've still got to put in a fair amount of effort to hit the level cap. If someone wants to argue that they know more about the game, let em. It doesn't really matter too much. Still really cool of you to keep some of your old weapons. Aside from Kvostov and the Strangers Rifle, I don't think I have any of my original vanilla weapons.

I use Grimoire as a good base line for length of play. But even then you can grind that out in a short period of time. As long as your not annoying, you good in my book. I enjoy showing people the VoG for the first time or helping them thru Crota's end for the first time. It's fun.

I bet no one knows about the secret pathway underneath Chest 1 in VOG. Happy travels!

It's funny, I remember before the game even came I had decided to play as a Titan. I thought the Warlock was cool too, but I didn't even think about playing as a Hunter. When I first saw the weapon types, I thought Hand cannons were stupid. So I made my Titan. I enjoyed it, but it didn't feel quite right. I kept my Titan, but made a new character, my Warlock. I didn't end up liking it that much, and went on to delete it. Then I made a Hunter. I loved it. The agility, the double jump, and both of the supers (Though I prefer golden gun) were amazing. Once my Hunter was a 28 (THE GRIND) I started running more night falls. I got my first legendary primary that wasn't from Vault from a nightfall. It was a hand cannon called The Devil You Know. At first I was disappointed, but I decided to try it out. Now I hardly touch a primary if it's not a hand cannon (I only stray over to scout rifles every once in a while) . Now Fatebringer is my favorite gun, ascended to 365, but I go back to my 300 attack Devil You Know just for fun.

After countless VoG runs, I had all the weapons, but none of the armor. I had three praetorian foils. My first armor piece from vault of glass dropped after I had beaten Crota. The grind was real.

Ya lol. They have no idea.

I get what you're saying. I'm a day one. Haven't played as much recently. Took me ages to get the hang of this game in the first place. Never been great at FPS and I would say I'm an average gamer. The thing to remember is we were all new at one point and we are all guilty of ego. What others think doesn't really matter, let them have their little ego trips. Personally I feel sorry for those that missed the struggle! Don't know the joy of finally scoring a suros and it being an amazing gun, don't know the joy of finally beating VOG on hard after so much pain. They missed the good old days that were only a few months ago. Haha

I thought it was somewhat difficult to get to 32, mostly because I could find no one to raid with. I have learned a lot, and do enjoy the game, but I feel the game us too easy now. Too much catering to whiners imo. I feel like HoW made the game too easy all around. Took me months to get to 32, my son went from 27 to 32 in about an hour. Was happy for him, but he kinda lost on that earning thing. I am only doing nightfalls, weeklies, and iron banner at this point. Elders gear sucks, and Osiris I haven't tried yet at 34, but I feel the game took a dive with this DLC.

I honestly don't care enough to argue with the newer people about whether or not they "know Destiny." I may be a day one player but the whole elitism thing is stupid. This is a video game. Chill.

They can brag all they want, at the end of the day I'm the one that kills Crota or uses the Relic
-
Have played against guys or gals who are much lower levels and had my backside kicked when you watch them and how they work their characters you know they are class acts and it is a pleasure to play against them. Played against 34s who haven't got the foggiest the old saying never judge a book by its cover. Look forward to meeting in the game

I still have some 300 damage weapons. My most favorite is the original The Calling. I still think that weapon is a beast.

3 RepliesSome of you kids take video games way too seriously. I don't get why. If you brag about this on the street or in a job interview, you'll just get laughed at. I'm doubting that your knowledge of Destiny will land you many dates. Maybe it's time for some of you to join the real world.

4 RepliesVanilla Destiny Memories: Grinding for mats....one or two at a time (praying that one of the chests you open is a "god" chest and it gives you 10 mats) Auto Rifles ruled everything...Suros was the go to weapon in Crucible Hoping you got the Epilogue or Vision on your first normal VOG run so you had an elemental primary Getting mad that you couldn't get gear to drop in the VOG and you were stuck at 29 and then no one would run VOG hard mode with you because you were a 29 (btw, I beat it with 6 29s) Blind Watch played a lot differently when C was in a different area and there was a sniping window open Pushing both Atheon and the Templar off the edge Seeing videos of people glitching into the areas which eventually became DLC (one area even had enemies in it) Hotfixes and Patches occurred more frequently in the beginning Thorn, Bad Juju, and Red Death all sucked and the Vex Mythoclast and Suros Regime ruled You used the Queen's Wrath missions to get some of your first legendary armor pieces People getting mad at you when you would run through the Skywatch and screw up their Loot Cave enemies spawn Turning in legendary engrams to the Cryptarch and getting a blue item Iron Banner level advantages were not as drastic as they are now...a level 3 with a Khostov went on a kill streak during the first IB You had to load up the tower every time you wanted to swap weapons or items. Fusion Rifles were just as abundant in Crucible as shotguns are now Atheon used to be run with a "portal team" and an "outside team" Only being able to carry 5 bounties at once Green ammo being abundantly available in the crucible Purple ammo dropping from enemies killed in the crucible and the box being there for the whole game! Not knowing when you had grenades, melee, or if you were the last guardian standing because there were no indicators Not knowing the modifiers in the Nightfall or Heroic strikes because they were only viewable before entering the strike

Edited by Doc SoCal: 6/12/2015 4:35:05 PMNah, I don't give any thought to how others play the game. No P2P economy so any jealousy or envy is self imposed. I also don't argue with random chuckleheads on the internet based on a characters level in a video game meaning anything.

Why would I give a shit?

Edited by O_Town_Racer: 6/12/2015 4:34:08 PMAt the end of the original release (pre-Crota) I had my Warlock at level 30 and both the Hunter and Titan were 29. I was so proud of getting my Warlock to 30! After Crota dropped, getting the armor wasn't the hardest because they tweaked the drop trees, but grinding to get the radiant materials to upgrade the armor and weapons was a real chore and made the weekly raid completions mandatory if you wanted to hit 32. Here we are a couple weeks into HoW and I've got all 3 of my characters to 34 without even playing that much. I did a few level 32 PoE rounds for armor cores, one level 34 for an EL, and IB to level 5 for all 3 characters for 6 more EL. In addition to all three being level 34 I also have 3 primary legendary burn weapons (arc, solar, void) maxed out at 365 (all exotics are already at 365 - remember the pain it was to re-level all of them after Crota dropped?). It is seriously easy to hit max level now compared to when we started this journey. I am curious to see what Bungie and Activision will be revealing next week at E3 related to Destiny's future as this expansion does not seem to be the ticket to keep people playing long-term.

Yes it can be irksome but, I like to think of it this way. If they have gotten as far as they have, in so short a time, it is only because they have stood on the shoulders of giants and those giants be US!
-
I was much more excited when I hit lvl 30 than when I hit 32 or 34. VoG hard as a 29 was painful.
-
Last week I ran HM VoG with a group of "young" 34s off of LFG. None of them even knew how to run relic. But all were 34. Had to laugh off mic when it came to light they were still green in raids. So here they are with their PoE and ToO gear, and me with ascended vanilla gear having to play Sherpa. Proof positive that being level 34 doesn't make you a high level Guardian.

2 RepliesMan the agony of finding materials... I remember having to do runs of hours at a time to get helium coils from the moon. I still know my route I used and all the chest spawn points. And not to mention ascendant materials.. I would use destiny public events website just to find the events and get that extra shard after the raids.

I ember getting level 30 being an achievement, when this past dlc came out getting 34 was no achievement, it was easy. Being stuck at 29, hoping for that one piece of armor(boots for me), going to the lootcave, that getting patched then people finding the second lootcave in the rocketyard. Was never as good as the original.i remember when rahool was a major asshole, going to him and getting a blue from a legendary. I remember getting TLW out of a legendary engram and being so surprised, cuz i wrote it off as just another blue.
-
I have spent countless hours playing VoG to finally reach the sacred lvl 30. You felt amazing when you finally reached it. Now all it takes is some Vanguard strikes to buy armour that takes you straight to lvl 32. It feels like that time has been wasted. I also spent ages searching planets for the fabled 'God Chests' so I could get more materials and maybe, just maybe, a legendary engram in the hope of something good. Now everything is just served on a plate for you to take as you please. As well as auto rifles being useable, they also sounded different and worked how they should do now. It saddens me how much the game has changed since the Beta and I wish there was a way of playing previous versions of the game. Comment if you think you should be able to play previous versions of the game.

The memories are nice, and it feels good to be a part of something from day 1, I love talking about how things were, how broken the Suros Regime used to be, how nobody used to use the thorn, the old vanguard and crucible gear, how much of a pain in the ass it was to get to 30 and everyone who was 30 had to look like a damn vex. I agree, I wish it wasn't so easy to be 34, since the dlc I did one weekend of trials of Osiris, and I got full trials gear and enough etheric light to make my vanguard gear (which I think looks way better bless etheric light) to have a whole wardrobe of light 42 gear, it felt too easy. I also had enough etheric from nightfall and one from Iron banner to ascend 2 older weapons of mine. I took like a 2 week break to play Mortal Kombat X and when I came back, most of my friends were still 33, so maybe I'm just lucky when it comes to etheric light? (traveler knows I have shit exotic luck) Maybe I was just really good at Trials of Osiris? Either way, I wish there was a way for veterans to better display that they've stood with the game since launch. Sadly I switched consoles recently, and I left behind all my old stuff on Xbox :/

Edited by technoguy1754312: 6/12/2015 4:12:08 PMI just say kick back have a drink and let destiny get bombarded with nerfs and whiners. Bad enough loot cave gone now weapon are just getting crappy. What else Is new as I'm seeing day one player barely complain about most the crap. Like the gjallahorn being sold or your not a certain level your a scrub like dude really.
