He has Nerochasm maxed, the Vestian sidearm and HoC at 331. He said not to worry he has beat it before. We asked if he had anything void and he said "I have Atheon's Epilogue!" and equipped a 292-ish LDR. We laughed our nuts off.
Why are people going into Skolas so underpowered? They know it's a fight only skilled players succeed at (solar is a bit more lenient) and the strats out there require a certain amount of impact/maxed weaponry. I understand wanting to try - we've all been carried at some point, but this is one battle that's painfully obvious that you need to basically crit every shot if you don't have good weapons. It's gonna take hours if you're lucky. Helping others is great, but this checkpoint free system doesn't make it as feasible as before. And 34s are the guilty parties. It's not like 27s being carried up to the bridge in crota for armor like before.

I'd be laughing my ass of if I was there

2 RepliesHours if I'm lucky? N..nah

5 RepliesWent in with a 312 WoC, 300 Pdeth and a 331 truth and I was the pub... Ended up carrying there sorry asses and we all got the cipher. (Well one finished his but you get it) Y'all think it's gear but there is literally no time limit on skolas other than mines but that's very easy with a Titan or Hunter on your team. Don't die play smart, if you become overwhelmed you get your team to move spots. Communication is always key in skolas.

Nothing in this game takes skill. It's pampered to the casuals so their player base would be high at all times.
-
7 RepliesYou don't need to be "skilled" you just have to grind the shit out of the game to get good guns and get them levelled up
-
Void was by far the easiest of the damage types.
-
1 ReplySame for me. I joined team and yes I did beat it already. I said what you guys have? Truth rockets...... I said we really need high impact snipers (void). They pull out benevelence not maxed. I said this will be tough but lets try it. Immediate wipe after massive misses. Guy says going back to truth rockets, I said good luck going back to orbit. Please be prepared for these missions and do some research. Kinda stinks to get there and not be able to complete because your under powered and not prepared. I feel bad for those people.

7 RepliesGood post. I didn't even attempt it last week because my Praedyth's Revenge is still only at 300 dmg. Being helped through is one thing if you don't have experience, but AT LEAST have the right weapons at respectable levels.

4 RepliesEdited by Ruz Te: 6/9/2015 4:55:40 PMAtheons epilogue, void efrideets spear and corrective measure is the way forward, as well as communication. You can cruise through anything on Destiny with any weapons as long as you talk to each other. If someone joins us in PoE with average weapons, we don't bat an eyelid. It's when they don't talk, that's when questions are asked. Took us about 15 mins with all 3 of us running a similar set up

U speak for my heart dude. My experience on skolas is basically no gear no game. Playing with ppl using shitty weapons would just end up turning into many wasted hours and rage quits. Some player really need to learn how to be decent, come to a fight prepared. Ain't nobody got hours to burn on one boss.
-
I've spent too many hours at Skolas under powered, with others that were also under powered. You really do have to have the right weapons to get him down quick or else spend hours without even getting the checkpoint. On that note, I should be able to take out Skolas 2/3 weeks, and have to sulk on Solar burn weeks since I don't have a ghorn. Lucky bast ards.

1 ReplyI've flat out refused to help my friends with the skolas fight if they don't have the right weapons. It's not like the raids where you can carry people through, everyone needs to pull their own weight or it turns into a lot of wasted hours. 1 friend thought I was being a dick until he sat on the skolas fight for 4 hours with failed attempt after failed attempt.
-
Burning Skolas before the mechanics kick in is hardly a strategy. Besides, anyone with a Gjallarhorn (which I don't have one), can do it. Yes, I've done it.
-
2 RepliesI got a 365 necro AMA
-
Necrochasm is a beast don't diss it.
-
To be fair, all Necrochasms come maxed.
-
It's really easy if you have a good group of friends to do it with. Destiny isn't fun without friends
-
2 RepliesI got up to the co last night and the people I was playing with to start off one didn't have a mic then the weapons the had sucked one guy was like I dot have any good weapons but I have an arc shotgun then the person without a mic was like I have a good fusion rifle and I was sitting there with my 365 void spear so I booted both of them
-
I beat skolas with 365 hawkmoon, 300 preydyths revenge and a 365 Void orbiks hmg. My two friends ran, 331 eferdeets. Had a blast doing it. Having people you trust makes a world of difference.. More than guns do. . If you're good, you can just keep rotating the outer walls of the area, trade poison debuff and keep dealing damage. It really wasn't all that bad. . Had the most fun I had in a while. Didnt wipe once till skolas. Beat him 3rd try. Got elder cipher. Xoxoxo

2 RepliesYou should get some friends to play with and free yourself from even having to worry about what weapons a stranger has. Not everyone lives in this game, you elitist prick
-
1 Reply331 sniper is still possible as long as you have 2 365 snipers with good impact. Took a couple tries but it worked.
-
2 RepliesLast night a kid had a tdb fresh word of crota, a 250sumthn predyths revenge that did 2500'a shot, and a 331 truth w/ no perks unlocked :/ Even though myself and the other random had maxed efrideet's 365 spears, dps heavily lacked...we left.

3 RepliesI would actually say that Void burn was by FAR the most lenient. Solar burn allowed you to bypass the mechanics of the fight if you had 3 Gjallarhorns. However, Skolas and the captains were 3x more lethal then they usually are. So if you didn't have 3 Gjallahorns the fight was pretty tough as skolas could 1-2 shot you. Arc Burn meant the Gjallarhorn strat didn't work, and all the other adds were 3x more lethal. This was really challenging as you had to rotate positions to cover the mines and you could just get unlucky and get killed outright by a dreg. Void burn was an absolute Joke. Again the Gjallarhorn burn method did not work, so players actually had to do the mechanics of the fight (shock horror) but NO enemies use void based weapons. Perhaps the servitors do, but we killed them so fast they never even shot at us. Spears, LDR or any high impact void sniper ate away at his health, word of crota could 1-2 shot most enemies. And truth wiped out captains in a single blast. It was still challenging but a real joy to play. I like the Skolas fight, because the team size is so small, there is NO dead weight. Unlike the Crota and Atheon fight (to a lesser extent), where one player is doing most of the work and everyone else is just in support roles, every player has to know what they are doing, have the right gear and communicate with their team and work well. Unless you are playing with 2 absolute MOSTERS you won't be getting carried through Skolas, and a lot of people don't like that.
-
People are too used to being carried....flaws of the raids unfortunately.
-
5 RepliesIs a 292 LDR even possible? The LDR 5001 was the TDB Vanguard vendor sniper correct? It starts out will 300 base attack.
-
I usually just play with my clan to avoid this but towards the end of the week, Ill try to help a few teams. Some are good, just missing 1 player with the right weapons but others are in there with no chance of succeeding after they spend hours just barely getting through the first 5 rounds.
