(Yet another Edit for those who chose not read any part and jump to the conclusion that I'm bitching, or a scrub asking for it to be easier, and all that other crap. Im simply asking for a fair challenge not the bullshit that is currently associated with the encounter overall.) (Edit: I didnt write this to complain about not being able to beat Skolas I have beaten him I understand the basic strategy used to defeat him as well as the cheesy way to do it. I wrote this to voice my opinion on how unfair and unbalanced it actually is as a whole. The odds are stacked against you in a bad way. After beating it I didn't feel a sense of accomplishment more like a sense of relief that I got that over with. I play games to have fun and enjoy myself not to grind out unecesarily just for the sake of it) I think they should at least say something at this point because its getting out of hand. I have yet to see an actual "legit" strategy (That works efficiently every time) to defeat him and complete the round that doesn't involve simply spamming him with (Insert weapon here). Because its much easier to just constantly DPS and spam him than to actually do it properly because of all the cheap deaths involved with the encounter. I have personally killed him many times but a few of them ended in deaths without completely finishing the encounter. Either the mine spawns next to us and he teleports into it and kills us all, we get shot down by adds trying to run for the one in mid or far side, Or one of us dies and the one left alive cant grab the essence from the other player, Only one makes it to the mine but doesn't have enough time to fully dismantle or he does it so close to the timer that we all die but we still here "success guardians" as the game over countdown begins. I believe I have seen every possible way to fail miserably at it and its just painful, because I know its not due to lack of skill or knowledge of playing the game. None of the deaths felt like I did something wrong or deserved it they feel cheap and unwarranted. This "artificial difficulty" as I like to call it seems like Bullshit because its not even challenging or fun. Just bullet sponge enemies and bosses, countless enemies who kill you incredibly fast yet you do minimal damage to them, unrealistic/insanely difficult circumstances that cause instant failure if not achieved and so on. I know im not the only one suffering through this because even the Top, Elite, Pro Destiny players encounter the same exact difficulties with this. Im glad they did something about Qodron they must've realised that the encounter was exaggeratedly difficult and slightly unplayable. Now its time they address Skolas. Or is it that they simply want it to be this insane so that everyone spends countless hours trying and failing at it so that time goes by till they drop the next DLC? Its the only reason I can see of why they would do this, to keep everyone busy with this "content" till the next one is ready to be put out to market. I see it as a wrong mindset because the Prison over all is quite enjoyable and worth replaying many times (Except for Skolas that is) And Trials Of Osiris is a great way to kill tons of hours just trying to stay flawless. Thanks for reading my long essay/Rant I hope it gets the right persons attention so that something can be done.

  • The biggest problem is that it seems Bungie isn't even play testing this stuff before putting in the game. The constant need to change the pve mechanics since this game released is the proof I offer as my evidence. I am so sick of these artificial attempts on Bungie's part to make their content difficult since they are too lazy to actually play the game they have designed. Sure, in the weekly updates there are claims that the employees are playing Destiny. I find that impossible to believe or all of the glitches, bugs, AI problems, etc. would have been discovered and fixed before being pushed to the consumers.

  • It's really fun beating him for the first time and not getting anything but the dream walker. No ship, shader or emblem. Open the big chest and nothing. Awesome. Really makes me want to play it again.

          • Explain how taking use of the elements is cheesy? Why should I waste time by running around the map when I can just kill him fast which is not a cheese at all it's the most efficient way of killing him. Stop saying you're not whining because you are, I think encounter isn't a grind because it only takes a few tries. I'm muting you.

            • Not supposed to be easy. The only ridiculously overly difficult one was Arc. Done it both ways, cheese and non-cheese and I respect the mechanics. Requires excellent communication and working together, and it's very doable if everyone sticks together and takes his health down in small chunks as intended. The only issue I have with the fight is that it is hard, and the rewards are nil. All the elemental primaries suck. The chest has all the same stuff that the 28 chest has. Once you get all 3 of the lackluster exotics, then what? No reason to do this fight unless you want a shot at the Judgement Chance for more bad rewards. All the PoE guns suck (no secondary perk, no re-roll ability) and the Osiris armor is much better as well. Osiris [b]everything[/b] is much better except a gimmicky "Increase Blah Blah vs certain enemies, when PoE is easy enough as it is) So I guess my complaint is that Osiris >>>>> PoE and it probably shouldn't be that way. Yes, I do both.

              • Beating Skolas legit just takes patience and communication. Once you have those 2 things down, you can beat him legit. I've only beaten Skolas once, but it was without spamming him with a given element.

              • My team couldn't do it arc burn week, but this week was manageable legit. We did it as intended, clearing adds, burning boss to key point at the right time etc. I definitely got that sense of relief at the end.

              • Quick explanation or those with the twitter mentality who cant read over 80 characters because too many words scare them. Im not complaining about not being able to beat it I have beaten it many times. My complaint is because its not fun or an actual challenge just frustrating and artificially difficult for no other reason than to just grind out and waste time till they sell us the next expansion.

                • Did Skolas for the first time with a couple friends over the weekend. Took 3 tries and maybe an hour and a half. I can see why Arc burn would be ridiculous, but Void was easy, and Solar would be manageable. We didn't cheese. We went in to the left, killed a Servitor, nuked Skolas with Void, then rotated around the map clockwise, repeating until his bonds broke. Then we continued rotating while passing the tainted light and doing damage to Skolas and Adds. We all ran to each mine when they came up. Once we had the second set of mines done, we ended him. Wasn't bad at all, especially compared to my first Atheon or Crota fight!

                  • With void burn we found that our snipers were kind of meh so we simply took his health down to 1/2 and dealt with the mines (run together so you can pass poison at the mine with preferably 5 seconds on the counter). After the first round we do work on skolas and deal with the second set of mines doing the same thing. We're under the assumption that there will be a week coming up without an elemental burn so we might as well work through the mechanics now when everything doesn't one shot you. Watch it be small arms next week...

                  • If you find the enemy AI to be too predictable while simply being sponges might I suggest trials of Osiris for your end game needs.... I guarantee you won't be able to outright predict the enemy strategy

                    • The only thing needed is a checkpoint. Maybe create a scorecard system like trials so people can't just do skolas to get the rewards. But they need to find a way to put in a checkpoint.

                      • While I use gjelly ... this is perfect example of fights having to be focused around its damage output. If they put together an elaborate fight that was very technical it would just be put to shame with 3 people spamming rockets. We saw this in Crota where the sword had to be used to beat him instead of rocket spams. I love gjelly but it has been throwing a wrench into some boss fights ... or making certain ones to easy.

                          Bungie is notorious at jewing ( what i call artificial difficulty) players left and right. Go play halo on legendary and prepare for the jewing of a lifetime. My favorite: oh you beat that checkpoint first try on legendary? Yea well we aren't giving you a checkpoint save and we will spawn a grunt carrying a grenade you won't get away from around the corner so you will surely die. We then will cheap kill you ten more times after. That's difficulty to bungie, and bullet sponge design

                        • Skolas is only hard because people are trying with unupgraded weapons. Hard mode crota was said to be unfair as well and it became rather routine with groups with proper gear and upgraded weapons. Skolas is still new and 3 man fireteams make weakness of one member even more obvious. It's hard to carry someone through skolas, it's possible but not as easy as carrying someone through a hard mode raid.

                          This week I've cheesed it 3 times with snipers and heavy. Last night I did it legit twice. It's actually easier to do it legit as long as you take your time and move together
