Iv been playing this game since day one I'm a vary skilled player and I for the most part enjoy every aspect of this game both the PvP and PvE are outstanding in my opinion even tho the thorn is currently destroying the PvP end of the game. This week as many of you know "The lighthouse" became available threw a 9-0 trials of Osiris run and this is currently the only way to get in. This is the problem... There should be a PvE way to gain entrance for the players who can't find a team or who simply cannot do the trials but what would be as challenging as doing that? Since skolas is definitely not. What about a flawless hard raid?
Here's my thought on how entrance to the lighthouse should be...
Trials of Osiris : exactly how it is.
PvE: one flawless hard vault of glass run a week. With a full fire team of 6. After beating atheon the portal In the disappearing stairs area will activate taking you to Mercury for a chest containing some good gear equivalent to trials gear. And require a key to open the chest.
Do you believe this would be a fair compromise if so leave a comment
Edit: I have done a flawless run myself this was simply a post to help others so stop telling me to get good.... Every other thing in destiny allows you to get to great gear/Lvl cap by playing one thing or another why shouldn't the lighthouse be the same? But just as hard for the PVEers as it was
For the PvP players

The real problem is ppl suck at pvp but care not to up their game. You want something? You earn it.

Edited by Llalla: 5/26/2015 5:10:45 AMMy suggestion is this. If you go flawless in trials you go to the lighthouse. If you don't go flawless, or you don't participate in the trials you DON'T go to the lighthouse. Instead you suck it up and act like a reasonable human being instead of a two year old who needs a timeout. Note this, and note well. I did not play trails. I did not go to the lighthouse. This is a reward for people who do a certain thing in the game. Do X get Y - this is the same logical structure as many other rewards in the game If people who didn't raid came on here saying Xur should sell the Mythoclast people would shoot them down. This is no different. You want to to the light house? GET -blam!-ING GOOD. EDIT: I am not telling OP to get good. To OP - no compromise is needed. Enjoy the lighthouse before it becomes meaningless.

2 RepliesLore wise you have a problem. That lighthouse is for Osiris, the warlock. Exiled to that place. How would it tie in to the VoG? I'm all for letting players into said area outside of PvP, but my contingency is a 1 year hold on that. All players who want to activate grimoire for the place can go on a visit basis in a future DLC surrounding Osiris himself. If that doesn't happen? Then the trials participation would be key, but would not require wins to get there. Only to compete. This grants you the area and grimoire, but no rewards of any kind. The last part is what I just said. After one year, Osiris wants us to view his work and opens up the place to everyone.

No. Just no. That doesn't make any sense lore wise. A vault of glass portal brings you to Mercury? Lmao. Osiris invites you to his camp on Mercury because you have proven yourself worthy in his Trials. He made the Trials to seek out the most ruthless that can prove them self. Do you think this is a game? (Satire)

2 Repliesit is a PVP reward for PVP not PVE... pve players get enough loot... they get raids, strikes, nightfalls, and the arena... and the second pvp gets their own thing its oh thats not fair there should be a pve way to get it... how about you get good or go home
-
1 ReplyI'm a PvE player exclusively and even I think the lighthouse should just be for PvP. I don't want some kind of charity entry to it. If I want in, I need to get better at PvP.
-
Gotta earn it in the trials. Best part of destiny by far. Amazing setting and loot.
-
That's a great idea it just ruins the whole goal and lore behind Trials. The description of the Lighthouse says that only true champions of the CRUCIBLE are welcome. Trials finally makes PvP more special since now we don't have to wait for Iron Banner for gear
-
2 RepliesIts a pvp award area for 9-0. Pve players get enough. Stop whining and get good to earn the area
-
8 RepliesOr go flawless in Trials like you're supposed to...
-
4 RepliesWhat does the Vault of Glass have to do with the Cult of Osiris? Because that is all that area is: a shrine to the Cult of Osiris, and Osiris himself (by proxy). It wouldn't make any sense.
-
6 RepliesHow about this compromise. Once your character has been to the lighthouse you can no longer play the trials on that character. Once you have done it on 3 characters then your done. Of course everyone is going to think what if I want to play it more? There is no point in playing it more after you get to the lighthouse and get some of the best loot in the game because you and I both know you want to ruin everyone e else's chances. So go play some skirmish!
-
2 RepliesNo. A PvE player should not be able to achieve PvP awards by doing a PvE Event. If I go flawless in Trials should I get to open the Prisons chest? No. Two separate things with separate rewards. If you can't complete the objective why should you receive the rewards?

Flawless lv 35 Poe start to finish

2 RepliesNow it's just the other half of the community complaining. The people who wanted skilled players to get theirs are happy playing trails. The ones who got everything handed to them through rng and think they are really good at destiny because they can beat hard Crota are complaining now. There is such a thing as a pve elitist, everyone has run into one. The guy who before you do any part brags about how he can solo it, then wants to cheese it anyway. These guys think they are really good at destiny because they can do a raid they have done a million times where nothing changes. Now they want that exotic shader to prove how good they are but can't get it. This makes them very insecure because their identity is now tied to being good at this game. So they come to the forums to complain about how it isn't fair.

1 ReplyNo, if you want to get into lighthouse, keep playing trials of Osiris. Pvp players don't get much love anyway, there's nothing there except a chest. If you just want the chest, play PoE. If you want to explore a new area, go buy an Elder Scrolls game. Also, do your English homework. Your spelling and grammar are horrible. ...and I haven't gotten into lighthouse yet either. If everyone could get in, you'd all just be complaining about how they didn't put anything in it.
-
7 RepliesMy fire team did a flawless Crota run in 20 minutes, so I'd have to say no to that idea.
-
3 RepliesFlawless POE run. Have you done a raid since 34 bruh it's ridiculous
-
2 RepliesLvl 34s with 365 Ghorn on CE hard. Lol yeah right, it can be done in 15 minutes. So I say no to that idea.

Do you believe this would be a fair compromise if so leave a comment
i don't think so and I am not a pvp diehard. Instead since bungee is determined to fracture the coolmunity, just go ahead and go all out with it. If u have been in the lighthouse then u can play against others who have been in the lighthouse. If u have not been in the lighthouse then u get to play trials vs those who have not been in the lighthouse. The lack of skill based matchmaking is the real problem here.

I don't agree but they should have a similar area for PVE only skill such as a secret area in the reef for flawless raiders etc would be cool I think that it's been long over due the PVP players get rewarded for there skill as pre DLC there was no incentive to play and be good at PVP other than the fun of it (also the trails scout rifle is epic!)
-
I see where you're coming from. Though after considering this, I'm thinking we should just let the pvpers have their loghthouse. My other thought is that so many people now have gone 9 and 0 with little to no effort. By this I mean that they most likely were all 34s, had 365 weapons, and had a few good buddies to play with. So, all and all, it's really not a challange to get there if you have those things above. Just let this thing rest, and maybe in the future us pve players will get our own exclusive social space. Who knows?
-
2 RepliesI understand but no it's a PvP thing and it is a great honor which is bestowed upon only those who go flawless.
-
Im pretty sure itll be open to everyone in the future
-
9 RepliesThe lighthouse is for Osiris. Pve players need something else.
-
I'm not by any means good at PvP and didn't come close to getting to the lighthouse, but I think that PvP players really need a little love in the game. For far too long PvE players have got everything; the raids were the only guarenteed ways to get to 30 or 32 or to get 331 attack weapons and PvP players were feeling the same way you are now. Finally they get something that shows off their skill and everyone wants it? Why didn't anyone hear them bitching when raiders all got to 32 and they were stuck as 31 if they didn't raid. Tl;dr The lighthouse is a PvP reward only and it should be PvP only; PvE players get enough rewards in different forms.
