Key farming makes me murdery
I've enjoyed the expansion immensely but there's one thing that is ruining my impression and overall destiny experience...
Key farming.
I'm an active player in an active clan. After clearing POE lvl 35 twice I really want to help my friends and clan members experience the joy of smashing Skolas (again). But since I can only get rewarded once a week it only makes sense to do it holding a key. So it's off to Skywatch for the most boring 2-4 hours of my life. It's just so infuriating to pull that chest 40, 50, 60 times and come up with nothing but some special ammo synth that I can't delete from my inventory. This problem is exacerbated by the fact everyone in your fire team wants a key before undertaking the POE so it isn't just one key you need. It's 2 or 3 on different players. Add that to the AWESOMENESS of players jumping in the game and pulling a key on their first try. At this point it takes twice as long to pull a key than beating the POE itself. So dumb.
I feel like friggen Old MacDonald over here. I can't stand being at Skywatch anymore. Please make it easier to enjoy the POE.

I enjoying doing it. Fireteam of buddies good laughs and just play. Go do something else.

1 ReplyYes the treasure keys shouldnt exist the way they are, its just comendations all over again and that was a horrible idea to force people to grind also. Bungie needs to stop trying to slow the pacing of the game by adding new rng currencies that some players rarely get. Your success in PoE should be the only requirement to get the rewards from PoE. You have to not only listen to your customers feedback, you have to act bungie, allow ammo synth to be discarded, keep the new "public events", get rid of treasure keys, and add optional matchmaking.

Bump! I hate this INCONSISTENT treasure key system! I don't care if it takes 2 hours IF I KNOW FOR SURE THAT I WILL GET IT AFTER 2 HOURS! I just went for 4 hours, had both of my friends get it and leave. I have 30+ blue engrams and 100+ special synthesis from one run! Bungie, quit trying to be more stupid!

It is broken and bungie will change it but not until they manage to lose even more players. then they will pretend it was somehow our fault for not giving them enough time...

Yeah, the keys are a pretty good example of bungie not being very good at coming up with ideas to make people actually want to play their game. It seems the only thing they can come up with are poor variants on skinner boxes. If they are adamant about this whole key system they should add guaranteed ways to get keys tied to the resets. Giving us an automatic key for the queens wrath named target bounties would work. Or an automatic key for the daily or for the weekly heroic/nightfall. I'm sure the main argument against this would be that keys = exotics and this would water down the experience some how. To which the obvious response should be lower the drop rate on exotics from the key chest. The three hawkmoons I got last week would probably agree.

They should have the vandal in the Reef exchange the tokens for keys! I don't know how many tokens I have now but am having a hard time finding keys!!!! -
7 RepliesFarm POE 28 you can get keys that way as well. At least it is somewhat enjoyable.

I farmed with a friend for keys for several hours. I watched him get 4 keys while I wasn't even able to get one.

Is bungies vision of patrolling rlly 3-4 players sitting on top of the building in skywatch, the players probably on their phones watching youtube or something to pass the time, until you hear that skiff crash teleport sound, kill the enemies race sparrows in hope for a key then sit back down and go back to their phones? Such lameness

7 RepliesHoly crap, I am a fairly active player, but I got tired of attempting to farm keys after my first 3 hour session at Skywatch in which I got no keys. Now I might do a handfull while I am doing patrol missions. I wondered how often people are seeing them drop, but from your statement, it is pretty rare. Lets face it, we don't play the game to run around Skywatch (or any chest area for that matter) for hours on end.

1 ReplyFor my health. For my sanity. I refuse to grind for keys that way. If I happen to be doing patrols in that area, I will wait for a wolf event as I do the patrol missions for the bounty. But I can never farm that thing for HOURS. For what? A 5% chance at getting a key?

I refuse to grind this way. And expect changes in the future to this system. I think Xur selling keys for 15-20 coins is adequate
