The most common posts, and the most active threads, are requesting optional matchmaking for Trials of Osiris and Prison of Elders. Moreover, all of the independent reviews that I've read of the House of Wolves specifically, and the broader game in general, question your baffling decision not to include optional matchmaking throughout.
I have yet to see a cogent argument against optional matchmaking, yet every day many people present well-articulated arguments for it. Optional matchmaking would enhance the experience of thousands of players every day, and would negatively affect none.
You say you listen to us, so let's see it.
Edit: See DeeJ's comment below.
Edit 2: A few folks have suggested what I've been thinking for a while now, that Bungie's refusal to add matchmaking to end-game content is nothing more than a scheme to artificially pad playtime. This is a tactic used to disguise the lack of meaningful content. While I don't wear a tin foil hat, I have NO DOUBT that Bungie knows that with matchmaking, many more of us would finish end-game content, and recognize there isn't much there.
Edit, 22 June: By now, many of you have read the EuroGamer interview with The Taken King Director, Luke Smith. If you haven't, I suggest you do. I'm so disgusted with his glib attitude - which seems viral at Bungie HQ - that I'm nearly speechless. Nearly.
Edit, 26 June: I still love playing multiplayer with my sons, but have zero interest otherwise. I have a bunch of unleveled gear that will rot, as far as I care.
Now, my interest has turned to trying to keep Bungivi$ion's money-mongering, player-gouging tactics from becoming the norm for game publishers.
The loudest noise I can make is that of my wallet closing.
Edit, July 24: Bungie's campaign of censorship and propaganda should disturb each and every one of us. These tactics have been used for centuries by governments and companies to sell "lies" to the masses, and to pit neighbors against each other.
Edit, September 13: With a handful of nechrobumps today, this oldie-but-goodie hit 2000 replies!

9 RepliesEdited by Urgblatt: 8/2/2015 8:38:32 AMBungie don't make any sense. They say we should find our own fire team members for end game content, then they go and provide matchmaking for the weekly heroic mission and the lowest level Prison of Elders. The OP is correct in saying Bungie are preventing the implementation of optional matchmaking to artificially pad out the playtime on Destiny. Bungie's claims that we need to know our fire team members are hogwash, we've all completed weekly heroics/Prison of Elders /Iron Banner/Crucible matches with matchmaking in place, so why not implement optional matchmaking on Nightfalls, all Prison of Elders matches and Raids?

1 ReplyOnly thing I can think of is that people will rage about dumb randoms.

2 RepliesI agree completely but there's an unsolvable problem. Judging by Iron Banner, Bungie can't rate or apply balanced skill levels - at all! Weapons imbalance, super imbalance, matchmaking imbalance, currency imbalance, grind-vs-space imbalance (then reverse everything - imbalance)... This game was broken from the start and Band-Aids on a beavers dam are not going to help. Move on, I am.

1 ReplyIf you keep logging hours in the game, it's your fault. They don't have to listen if they still have the player base. Play Rocket League. It's freaking awesome.

4 RepliesMatchmaking in trials of Osiris just isn't a good idea. I've been playing elimination mode, and that has matchmaking, and there are problems I notice. 1. There is very little team play, as nobody has played with each other before. Trials is meant to be a team event and it's supposed to be that communication is the key element to winning but communicating doesn't exist in matchmaking. 2. You can get matched up with bad teammates and so you are almost going 3v1 and while some people are good enough to win that, it's very unlikely that you will win in that case, and so you're not going to get the rewards and therefor it's pointless to even play the trials. 3. If you are facing a team of randoms, as in they used matchmaking while you are with a team of your friends you are basically getting a free win, and so it's easier to go 9-0, making it less special and the trials easier. It's supposed to be the hardest PvP event but this would take away from it. I know people might comment "what if I just want to play trials without worrying about winning or whatever, I just want to participate", well that makes the trials easier for others and almost ruins what makes it special. If you want matchmaking play elimination, it's that simple. I do however agree with optional matchmaking for nightfalls, as working with a team of randoms isn't terrible in nightfalls, although you can run into the trolls, or the people who just go afk and wait for you to do the work, or the guy who runs ahead and then dies so that the nightfall ends, but I still think it would be worth it.

1 ReplyThere isn't a good argument against it. I mean, bungie would have arguments against it, mostly for reasons of saving money and extending gameplay for the players by making it more difficult than it needs to be. An optional matchmaker or ingame lfg would hurt no one and benefit everyone. Because those that don't want a matchmade group can still do it with a premade fireteam.

1 ReplyOptionsl Match Making needs to be in everything in destiny. not just strikes and low level stuff.
