So I played the level 28 PoE last night for the first time, and was awarded back to back Gjallarhorns!
This is idiotic. Bungie should not allow players to be rewarded any exotics from the lvl 28 Prison. It is too easy! Anyone could beat it and then get rewarded with some of the best weapons in the game. It is 4 levels lower than the Nightfall, but yet you can get some of the game's best gear.
I mean think of the gameplay we first had to do to reach the VoG exotic chest or even Ir Yut. You needed a fully coordinated, and somewhat proficient, fireteam. Now, just pop into matchmaking and get a Gally, for literally doing nothing. Might as well just start handing out the Mythoclast for completing patrols.
Anyway, I won't be using anymore keys on the lvl 28. I feel I should at least have to earn the rewards I get.
Edit 1:
This isn't crying or bit*hing, it is just a legit concern. I love when my friends or others get the exotics they need, but it is really the manner of getting these exotics from the PoE that is very anticlimactic.
Some of you have said that you have gotten exotics from low level strikes, crucible, and/or patrol chests. Yes, these things are easy, but the chances of getting exotic drops here are extremely rare, and, in most cases, completely unexpected. Which makes receiving them very exciting for the player and other players involved. However, in PoE we can expect multiple exotics on a weekly basis. This kind of ruins the excitement of receiving them in the first place and therefore takes a lot of the fun out of it.
Some of you have raised the point that most people have all or most of the exotics now anyway. I would definitely agree with this too, but I feel that this is a disappointing stat. Exotics should be just that, exotic. Having weekly farms for exotics makes them even less rare and again takes the fun from the game. I feel that even Xur should not be selling any exotics. I'm fine with him selling exotic armor but weapons should be left for random drops or hard fought battles (or at least battles with some sort of effort).
I guess in reality, I just like working for my rewards, makes getting them feel more... rewarding. ;) I'm just disappointed with how easy lvl 28 PoE is.
Edit 2:
It's great to see the level of controversy this post had caused. For those responding with thoughtful comments and rebukes I thank you. You have made me look at my initial opinion and reaction a little differently. Saying "idiotic"in the original title was perhaps a little harsh, and I'll admit, my original tone might have been too negative.
However, my main concern now is the serious lack of reading comprehension and the associated negativity that comes from sharing an opinion on these forums. Allow me to clarify.
I don't care about others getting Gjallarhorn, or any other exotic for that matter. I have them all and understand the collectors/hoarders mindset. But my main issue was just how expected or dependable they have made acquiring exotics. I feel that this has taken some of the excitement from the random acquisition of the weapons and for me takes a lot of the fun from it. It is cool that you need a key, but I can't get behind level 28 PoE matchmade exotics.

1 ReplyPrison of Elders rewards each character one exotic on ANY DIFFICULTY FOR THEIR FIRST ATTEMPT. Stop being dumb.
-
1 ReplyYou only get an exotic the first time on 28
-
Lol yut.
-
2 RepliesExotics aren't a guaranteed drop from level 28, I've spent keys before and only got a single legendary. It's just like getting one in a strike or the crucible, there is a chance and you just have to hope you're lucky.
-
The fact you must farm for two hours for a key the. Twice for two keys so 4 hours then, if your a noob, 30 minutes for Lvl 28 so 2x, 1 hour, that's 5 hours dude.
-
7 RepliesAgreed. When I saw thunderlord then icebreaker drop for me, I was stunned. Getting an guaranteed exotic? Nope not cool. I don't want a guaranteed anything unless it's a currency.
-
10 RepliesThis week's rotation for PoE on any difficulty isn't particularly challenging until Skolas. And even he isn't hard when Gally shows up
-
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
-
Don't you need a key?
-
6 RepliesI did the strike I deserve whatever the game gives me. Simple as that. You can attach a larger value to the Gjallarhorn if you want. That doesn't mean I have to go to Mt. Doom and throw the ring in the fire. I can just make it to Rivendell from the Shire and get the Gjallarhorn as a possible reward.
-
Before DLC "Wahh no ghorn" or "Wahh stupid xurners" Now "Wahh stupid not so difficult to obtain exotic" or "Wahh stupid earners" Wow.
-
1 ReplyYou get exotics on your first elders per week.
-
Quit your bitching everyone on here cries over any thing
-
2 RepliesWhy do you care about what others get? How does that affect your gameplay? Sounds like you are expressing envy or jealousy for people whom you do not even know.
-
1 ReplyWere you using the same character for both runs? My understanding is that the first time you open the big chest each week, you have a shot at an exotic. I got two Red Deaths and a Thunderlord with all three of my characters, and then I used a couple more keys and didn't get any exotics. Also, since the big chest requires treasure keys, you can't open it every time you beat it unless you do a considerable amount of grinding.
-
Funny seeing the one time I did 28 I got one of the worst exotics in the game and was going to do it on my other character but thought it may be a waste of time for something as garbage as a universal remote
-
2 RepliesAnd what difficulty level is purchasing from Xur again? Seriously, just be happy you got something cool and get over it.
-
Well dismantle the weapons you didnt think you earned and move on.
-
2 RepliesYea but they don't get weapon and armor core and etheric light anybody could get a ghallahorn from anywhere not just lvl 28 PoE
-
I got it too on lvl 28 the first day. No complains here.
-
Tl;dr?

1 ReplyYou are so lucky

Most people have a shed load of exotics by now anyway. I have 11 iv never used. I finally picked up the gally after 300 hours of playing. Some ppl get it from NF which is sometimes easier. Seems from my mates online it's dropping gally for ppl who deserve it. Everyone deserves it if they have grinded the game and got the POE. I won't be opening the 28 chest anymore cause I don't need any more exotics. Simple. If you need one open it. I think it's a smart move. I only pull gally out now and then. Most of the time it's my hawkmoon in the exotic slot.

Edited by Mossy: 5/23/2015 12:32:22 PMIt's funny how you think ppl getting Gjallarhorn is a concern.... A concern for who??? Don't say you... That's pathetic. If you don't like other ppl having the same stuff as you, then this game is not for you.
