The Level 28 Prison of Elders is a Cheese!

So I played the level 28 PoE last night for the first time, and was awarded back to back Gjallarhorns! This is idiotic. Bungie should not allow players to be rewarded any exotics from the lvl 28 Prison. It is too easy! Anyone could beat it and then get rewarded with some of the best weapons in the game. It is 4 levels lower than the Nightfall, but yet you can get some of the game's best gear. I mean think of the gameplay we first had to do to reach the VoG exotic chest or even Ir Yut. You needed a fully coordinated, and somewhat proficient, fireteam. Now, just pop into matchmaking and get a Gally, for literally doing nothing. Might as well just start handing out the Mythoclast for completing patrols. Anyway, I won't be using anymore keys on the lvl 28. I feel I should at least have to earn the rewards I get. Edit 1: This isn't crying or bit*hing, it is just a legit concern. I love when my friends or others get the exotics they need, but it is really the manner of getting these exotics from the PoE that is very anticlimactic. Some of you have said that you have gotten exotics from low level strikes, crucible, and/or patrol chests. Yes, these things are easy, but the chances of getting exotic drops here are extremely rare, and, in most cases, completely unexpected. Which makes receiving them very exciting for the player and other players involved. However, in PoE we can expect multiple exotics on a weekly basis. This kind of ruins the excitement of receiving them in the first place and therefore takes a lot of the fun out of it. Some of you have raised the point that most people have all or most of the exotics now anyway. I would definitely agree with this too, but I feel that this is a disappointing stat. Exotics should be just that, exotic. Having weekly farms for exotics makes them even less rare and again takes the fun from the game. I feel that even Xur should not be selling any exotics. I'm fine with him selling exotic armor but weapons should be left for random drops or hard fought battles (or at least battles with some sort of effort). I guess in reality, I just like working for my rewards, makes getting them feel more... rewarding. ;) I'm just disappointed with how easy lvl 28 PoE is. Edit 2: It's great to see the level of controversy this post had caused. For those responding with thoughtful comments and rebukes I thank you. You have made me look at my initial opinion and reaction a little differently. Saying "idiotic"in the original title was perhaps a little harsh, and I'll admit, my original tone might have been too negative. However, my main concern now is the serious lack of reading comprehension and the associated negativity that comes from sharing an opinion on these forums. Allow me to clarify. I don't care about others getting Gjallarhorn, or any other exotic for that matter. I have them all and understand the collectors/hoarders mindset. But my main issue was just how expected or dependable they have made acquiring exotics. I feel that this has taken some of the excitement from the random acquisition of the weapons and for me takes a lot of the fun from it. It is cool that you need a key, but I can't get behind level 28 PoE matchmade exotics.

  • Treasure keys are annoying to farm for already. 28 PoE is fine because it's basically just an easy way to redeem them, IMO.

    • First of all, a legit concern? Your concern is people getting decent weapons too easily and thats bullshit because before this it could take weeks for a newer player. If it wasnt for prison, my brother who just started last week would be stuck with rares trying to run 28 strike playlist as a 27. Good drop rates are a yknow GOOD thing. Why dont we tell everyone they cant get legendaries or exotics from crucible or strikes either then huh? Whats wrong with having you know actually decent drop rates, what because you like gambling all day?

First of all you need a Treasure Key to open the big chest and those aren't exactly common. Second, you're only guaranteed one Exotic from the chest per character per week. So that's 3 guaranteed Exotics a week, which isn't really that much. I've had weeks where I've gotten 8 exotics in the same week, of course 3 were No Land Beyond, but still it's not a big deal. People that complain about RNG are typically young children that pitch fits when they don't get what they want. Assuming you do all your Nightfalls and Raids every week, you're always going to get atleast one Exotic per week. Now there's just guaranteed Exotic drops too. I don't see why any of this matters though since only a small handful of Exotics are actually worth keeping.

      • Your opinion is just that. Yours. Exotics aren't really a higher tier rarity, they are essentially Legendaries with special abilities. Many people don't care how they get an Exotic, if it's done from an engram that they got from punching a Dreg, or from Zur, Ir Yut, Crota, Atheon, or a once a week garunteed chance. You enjoy your game doing the activities you enjoy. Let others get their enjoyment and opportunities where they want. In the end a guaranteed chance is still only a chance at a new exotic, more than likely you'll get something you already have before something new.

      • Considering how rare the treasure keys are (unless you grind them, which isn't very fun in my opinion), I think it's fair for the chest to reward a random weekly exotic

        • You can't get anything without a key. How do get a key? By grinding patrol or PoE. If someone has opened 100 chests for 1 key, have they not earned it? As opposed to someone grinding 100 strikes for an exotic (rough drop rate)? Or running raids every week for a chance at an exotic? The time taken to receive an RNG exotic by each method would average out. You don't get an exotic every raid, but they take an hour each, each week, each guardian. Basically if you find a treasure key, you are guaranteed an exotic. You still have a lot of work to do to find one.

          • Add MM to the other Poe playlists & i,ll agree but until then the level 28 is all i can play. The rewards are fine, they may get an exotic but they cant hit level 34.

              • I tend to do all my weekly activities (Nightfalls, Raids, you name it) with the exception of this week (PoE got me like...) and I'm honestly, really happy? I mean, I've heard that your first chest per character in PoE is a guaranteed exotic and I haven't seen anything to rebuke that. For me, personally, I'm glad because well, I have terrible luck! I've had weeks where I do everything necessary and there is nary an exotic in sight. (this is also why I support Xur selling weapons, because I don't believe getting lucky with RNG means a weapon is any more legitimate than... having bad luck and needing to buy it) Maybe they should change it to level 32 and up, though? I mean, even those aren't really hard but at least they're a higher difficulty. At least the exotic bounties for HoW exotics can only be gotten on 34 and up, if you need a silver lining. For my last bit, I will say man, I wish the chest had given me a Gjallarhorn. :c Sincerely, someone who has every non-HoW exotic except for Gjallarhorn and Necrochasm and collects that stuff

But before doing so, why do idiots all over these forums ALWAYS find something to -blam!-ing moan about? "It's too easy", "it's too hard"... -blam!- off man, seriously...

                  • Hahahah work for the rewards you have to get? The ONLY things in this game where you are actually working for the rewards are 35 PoE and the ToO. By your logic, 32 and 34 shouldn't drop exotics either because they are super easy and require minimal skill as well?

                    • I see it as a smart move on Bungie to keep most people happy. Also it gives others a better chance to get Ghorn. I noticed those threads have pretty much stopped. Not saying everyone has it but chances of getting it just went up. Also I myself have yet to get anything out of the chest I don't already have. So for me it is better to use the keys on the upper levels. If Bungie keeps on making people feel like they are getting screwed. Then Bungie is just screwing itself.
