How in the hell has anyone beat him? He was the second boss for my group when we tried PoE 32 last night, and it seemed like every time we took his shield down, he regened it to a different damage type. And then all the other cabal seemed to just keep spawning at a ridiculous rate and had so much health... Anyone have advice on how to beat him?
Apparently the Gjallarhorn is a must have for this...

Find a good place to camp at (nowhere is completely safe) have a solar shotgun to take care of any cabal who try and invade your happy space.
-
It took my team 23 min i think to beat him
-
I have a sniper of each kind and a shoot to loot scout. Switch to sheild type, take him down, gally. Loot. Rinse and repeat.

My fireteam coordinated our heavies to cover the three elements. We kept moving around the arena clockwise to avoid getting trapped in any location and overrun. Take down his shields, hit him with all you got, take out a few adds and then move as a group to the other side of the arena. Rinse, repeat.

3 titans, no gallys. Just traded bubbles and used lots of ammo!
-
Gjallarhorn is not need although it is my weapon of choice when his shield is solar. I usually have a wep for any shield but i prefer using arc and solar while my buddies use void aand whatever. Teamwork is mainly a factor in this. Try having a weapon in each slot o fight against him when he changes his shield.

2 RepliesAm i the only one who still doesn't have a damned Gjallarhorn yet...
-
No you must be bad
-
2 gallys in my pug and ppl actually had mics. Titan bubbles help. And his shield changes and charges you just gotta be on him.
-
Each member of my team chose our elements at the beginning. We also had gjally but we wanted to drop the shields before launching. I used word of Crota and swordbreaker and took down the void shields. Honestly we probably made it more complicated than it should've been.
-
Well I usually take his shield down myself, and by that time my shield is also down so I retreat while my team members blast him with rockets. You really have to coordinate. I find that you want to find a safe area that is wide so you can spread out a little bit and split enemy fire while also being able to easily get to each other. I use fusion rifles to down his shield, icebreaker to gain ammo, rockets to damage him.
-
Have 3 weapons with diffrent elements equipped, I did fatebringer, solar fusion rifle, and Truth.i had Gjallerhorn but my team didn't have void shit, the other peeps had Gjallerhorn
-
Stay at the front shoot heavy, stay moving along that first corridor. Shoot him consistently until the adds start getting overwhelming. Then, from cover and still watching your health start thinning adds. Then repeat. Should take between 5 and 10 minutes. Another way is to have a different elements heavy for each member of the group and that person is in charge of the shield type when it comes up

Head left and stay behind that wall
-
We did it easily without ghorn we used HoC

1 ReplyRun run run, shoot shoot. Run run run run. Shoot shoot shoot. Is basically how I've done everything in the arena so far
-
I suggest having your team all equip the same elemental type heavy rocket launcher. Whenever his shield is the same as your rocket launchers, blast him. When his shields are not just peck at him with primaries and specials. His shield isn't to powerful and can be handled even when your weapons are the wrong type for his shields. I also suggest a high impact solar fusion rifle. The fusion rifle is very helpful against the centurions and allows you to fight from cover more effectively. Do not be afraid to use your rockets against the major centurions. They need to be dealt with. Clear adds and then quickly attack Valus Trau'ug. Tl;dr ghallarhorn is not needed. Just coordinate with your team, kill adds, and attack Trau'ug between add spawns and you should be fine
-
Don't worry about the boss until you kill the adds. Then being his health down, once you bring it down, then more mobs will spawn. Rinse and repeat.
-
Try level 35.

I beat him with my buddy in the far left corner. Theres a spot there where you can hide behind a ledge and you don't really need to worry about the boss, only the centurions and phalanx's and wizards, and they barely come around the corner at you. You can actually see over this ledge and shoot at the boss while he just stands there trying to hit you through it, takes time but it wasn't terribly difficult. Take out the shielf, shoot him with your sniper and rockets. Repeat. Should be dead in about 10 mins.
-
Did it without a ghorn. Just gotta remember its an endurance fight. Don't try to blitz it
-
I dont have a ghorn. I finished him off with my thunderlord. It takes patients and a good weapon setup. U will get him man!
-
2 RepliesThis is hella easy. Bungie made PoE too easy. The 32 one you don't even need ghorn. Then the level 34 is hecka easy as long as you have a titan. Haven't attempted skolas yet, but I've heard he's extremely easy
-
He was easy as hell, just swap weps to whatever shield he has and shoot. He has as much health as a yellow ogre, or maybe as much as a shielded wizard at best. Overall: He's weak as -blam!-.

More like Valus tarUGH
