Why developers voluntarily broke the game by removing matchmaking from top game activities: - Walls the best content of the game to most players. - Outsources matchmaking to community-built tools (making the developers look incompetent, and lazy). - Community built tools is matchmaking anyway, with added difficulty. - It removes you from the game experience. - You must constantly need to refresh your friend's list as many you currently play with, eventually stop playing or get different schedules. - You must constantly add strangers to your friend's list. Most people are uncomfortable with this (me included). - It strips players of a choice of how they want to approach a challenge. Players don't need nannying. It shows the developers have little faith in their customers. - It shows the developers either don't care about their customer's schedules or are out of touch with their player base. People against matchmaking is the people who talk about "Xurning". They belong to a "special club" and somehow feel that opening the gates to the "peasants" will diminish the game experience. Wake up. The game experience is already broken. EDIT: This problem has been part of this game since beta https://m.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2c6ky4/luke_smith_one_of_the_lead_designers_on_destiny/ and the fact is, it will remain a flaw that drags it down until the developers step down their ivory tower and figure out who are they making this game for.
