The mark of a true sniper
What's up guys? So I was cruising through destiny tracker looking at my stats and what not, and came across my sniper kills. Upon further inspection, I started to look at the percentage of kills I have with it that came via headshot. I use a longbow in pvp and am sitting at about 65% precision kills. The best snipers on the leader boards have about 75% or a little higher.
So, what is your percentage? What sniper do you use? What makes a good sniper in general?
Discuss.
Edit: lots of love for the longbow and prudence (PR too of course). Highest so far is 79% although I haven't checked if that's legit or not. Keep the discussion going guardians!

I assume it increases aim assist, but I can't find any info as to how much... If anyone has some definitive answers, it would be greatly appreciated!![/b]

13 RepliesOne huge advantage when I comes to snipers, and specifically precision kills, is to get a sniper with high aim assistance, not auto aim, aim assistance. This is a hidden stat within all weapons which basically make the hit boxes larger at each target, or that the shot is drawn to the targets hit box if you so will. I had a look at all the snipers and their aim assistance a while back and it was quite interesting to see how much of a difference there was. The highest aim assistance sniper was the Prudence II (300 dmg version) (was around 75 or something like that). Supremacy also had a pretty high aim assistance. The longbow was about 55 or around that area. What caught my eye though was that Preadyths revenge only had the shy of 20. Luckily I had a Prudence II (not the 300 version though) so I decided to compare that one with my PR at a patrol with some vandals as my experiment enemies and I must say that the difference was absolutely noticeable. So if you're struggling with those precision kills with your currently sniper try one out with a higher aim assistance.

My titan (my main toon) has around 74% precision kill ratio? I don't know how that compares to anyone else's bit I think that's a damn good number

I mainly used Patience and time, it's been my baby ever since Bungie revealed the game in 2012 of E3 I believe not sure. Where I think Deej had Thunderlord and the other guy had Patience and Time. I've started to stray away from it and jumping around from Longbow, Queen's Sniper (HoW), low Grade, and now my new sniper The Chosen. Been using The Choosen for about 3 days now and I enjoy it. Got 3 of the sniper scopes I really like in this game.

I am sitting around 55% HS ratio, I am fairly new to sniping because I used to be a shotgun guy. I always aim for the head but my longbow has a stability perk so if some titan or warlock is slowly firing I can do 2 quick body shots = easy kill. I have recently tried out my final round spear that I rolled (was looking for something with outlaw and field scout, but I couldn't risk passing up this roll) I love the spawning in with 12 round but I still have not used a single final round shot. I love the field scout and the scopes. (shotgaze = best)
