I think everyone needs to stop making super weapons it doesn't end well Fireteam tuyet died making pocket infinity Red deaths creator turned insane Thorns owner transformed into dredgen yor, Tolands thirst for knowledge/power caused him to craft bad juju and get exiled Wielding necrochasm will ensure you never win a gun fight again. Seriously though the text implies it can taint guardians light , I can't understand why the hive made it though, was it for them to wield or where they hoping guardians would find it and succumb to the dark side, similar to dredgen yor either way it didn't end well for crota and his army's we -blam!-ed them up in the dark bellow

  • I was going to bring it up but SGA wasn't the reason for his death, he'd have died to dredgen in the crucible either way , thorn is way to OP in the crucible :P

  • To me the most interesting part of the Grimoire card for the necrochasm, is how they mention it is a weapon designed to feed on it's owner's aggression. That when angry eyes drew focus it would reach farther. Maybe you'd have to be tainted by the darkness somehow to properly utilize it? That would also explain why Dredgen was so skilled with Thorn(although he was pretty skilled with HCs to begin with). Just theorizing here but I think it would be interesting to see some more lore behind the Necrochasm.

  • This is my second "weapon" lore post. My next will likely be combining a few other weapons lore into one thread.

I disagree. Necrochasm appears to be alive in some way and actually hungered for the death of Hive which empowered it. I think what makes it dangerous is not that you'd slip into darkness, but that you'd let yourself go. What happens after would be anyone's guess.

I don't think so. The Hive don't know how to use it effectively. It's similar to the Vex in that its oddly perfect for a Guardian and not for the enemy that created the weapon. Necrochasm is technically an ally. It's supposed to have become your friend by the take it becomes Necrochasm. It is a dark weapon, but I think it actually empowers you. If anything, a Warlock would be most at danger, especially a Sunsinger.

  • It was originally a normal auto rifle. Look at its grimoire.

  • Thinking outside the box, it would seem quite Hive-y for the gun to just be bait. Something to continually chase after, to get you down the their level where they can wipe out the guardians, and even succeeding against them will taint your light (raid armour, the Eris Morn complex) Or maybe Bungie just botched the gun

  • I have now and I agree, I was undecided on whether red death was a weapon of sorrow or just a failed experiment that caused it's users to go mad similar to how icebreaker warns it could explode, so the vanguard banned it as a safety measure

  • Oh Red Death isn't a Weapon of Sorrow, but it is definitely dangerous.

  • Most of the exotic weapons we wield seam to be rather dangerous :P but yeah I agree with your RD post, it's just an experiment gone wrong
