To the people who worry about orbs on CE Hard...
Last week I was doing a Crota's End Hard Mode and when we got to Crota, the guys I was with kept yelling about getting orbs. I ignored it at first, but eventually I started getting annoyed because I was getting yelled at for not making orbs. To me the orbs didn't matter because I don't have any armor that regens health, so I had 1 health bar and that was it.
What bothered me was that those guys were yelling in my ear about orbs when I don't need them, and if you're running middle strat the only person you should ever need them is the sword bearer. I have only died once at Crota (excluding wipes) on Hard Mode. Orbs are unnecessary, so to anyone who yells about orbs, please stop. You don't need them, you just need to avoid getting shot, which isn't that hard.
So the real question, who thinks orbs are important, and who doesn't need them?
Edit 1: To clarify, I'm not saying that orbs aren't useful. I'm just trying to figure out whether or not people think they are good enough to warrant this guy yelling at me for 30 minutes. They are useful, but I don't think it justifies yelling.
EDIT 2: Ok can people please try and see where I'm coming from. I'm not saying orbs aren't useful. THEY ARE. And I make them when they can (Which isn't often). PERSONALLY, I do not need orbs. What I want to know is was that guy justified at yelling at me? (The poll is to try and determine who feels that they really need orbs FOR HEALTH. Supers are entirely different bc it's always good to have those)

1 ReplyNot gonna lie, I probably wouldn't have had a problem booting you. Whether or not you feel they're important, you weren't being a team player and that's where the frustration came from. Especially when it's a simple matter of not shooting something.

4 RepliesLet me make it really simple for you: ⚫Orbs are helpful for [i]most[/i] players now. Most players have armour that gives them health when they're picked up. This makes the fight less stressful and simpler. ⚫Whether or not [i]you[/i] need them, you should be considerate of your teammates and their needs. ⚫Being inconsiderate is selfish. ⚫Being selfish will get people mad. ⚫Being selfish when it's [i]your first time doing hard mode[/i] (yes I saw you mention that is a reply below) will get you yelled at, and rightly so. So, don't be a dipshít. Leave the yellow bar enemies to be killed by players who have their super charged. They're not doing it to benefit themselves. You can't pickup your own orbs. They're doing it for their teammates because they're not selfish jackasses.

Edited by robofighter4: 3/20/2015 5:11:53 PMWhen I run sword, I like there to be a plethora of orbs around, mainly so I can re-gen my super between swords. (Invisibility makes everything run smoother) When it comes to health re-gen, you only need to pick up one orb to get back to full; so there don't need to be a ton around in that regard. In regard to getting yelled at for not making any: The orbs you make are for your team-mates, not yourself. You can't pick up orbs you produce, only orbs produced for others.

Just because you don't need orbs doesn't mean the rest of your team doesn't. At the least, 2 people should be making orbs from the Knights in the crystal room. Some teams have a titan using bubble to distract boomers, have them use a bubble where the swordbearer stands on before jumping on Crota's platform or use the bubble by the door on the top of the staircases leading into the crystal room. If you don't want to work as a team, I suggest you solo Crota.

I agree that orbs for health aren't needed but they are useful. Even if they don't generate health for you is will generate health for the guy next to you who tends to die when running inside 50% of the time. They are also super useful for the swordbearer who will take damage from the thralls and potentially from Crota or the Boomers. The Ogres can also inflict a lot of damage on your team and having those orbs available just in case you need them is nice. The main reason I need the orbs is for my super. If I'm sword bearing I like to use my super, go invisible, and run up to the swordbearer so I can pick up the sword right when he dies and to avoid attacks from the thralls. As a Titan (sometimes the only titan on the team) I have to have the orbs to generate a bubble each sword. I can shoot thralls if I need to but that generally won't get my super up quick enough. Are orbs necessary to beating Crota? No, but they are nice and make it a little easier depending on the team you are with.

You may not have a way to regen health but your teammates do. Solo it if your not a team player.

I hardly ever get hit doing crota on hard, but obv there are times when things go wrong (e.g. getting hit by boomers running from the ogre room) where the orbs are useful. Also for the swordbearers super and if you have a titan distracting with a bubble they are also necessary. Finally, even if you don't need them, you're being mega selfish ignoring your teammates requests by destroying them without letting them generate the orbs. If you don't care about them, let somebody else do it. Raids are TEAM efforts! Edit: Your point about asking if orbs are useful for health is irrelevant. You were talking about crota on hard, where supers are important, so the orb generation is important even if you don't need them for health. I have a red death, so don't need them for health, but still let others generate orbs. Edit 2: Your strategy requires a titan with a specific piece of gear... I don't understand why you are so desperate to kill off those knights lol? It only takes another minute or so to do.....

It's a team effort bro. You can't play for yourself in the raid or you won't get it done. Making orbs is usually for the Titan for his bubble because that's a really good strategy to distract boomers.

I get your point completely but it's because you're part of the team they are looking for you to pitch in with the orbs. My team would have 2 who has their super to pop orbs. Everyone else has 16-18 orbs while the super users get 8-9 orbs to get health or their super back immediately or pick up a few and leave a few behind for later on in the fight. If anything, you can look at it as having some sort of medical capabilities for the bullet prone.

If two guys make orbs they can regen their health off of the others drops for the most part so why would it be an issue?

2 RepliesBecause one person doesn't have any armor, which by the way...you know your can ROC out that armor??, you should punish the other 5 people on your raid. Orbs for the titan who makes the bubble to stop the boomers, orbs for the sun singers to make sure you still have 6 people if they make a mistake, orbs for the Slingers and Dancers that clear thrall after boomer room. Don't think you are worth more than the five other people in your team, even as the swordbearer.

Just because you don't need doesn't mean they won't be useful to your team and your ultimate goal of defeating Crota. This is a situation where helping others is a clear benefit to you. They don't even cost you anything. Why not help someone?

Oh! Well I don't need orbs because I'm too good for them! First: actually be a team player, give them some orbs if they need them. Second: accidents can happen, and most people take some damage during the encounter.

Your selfishness could be what causes a wipe because someone never had enough health and caused the oversoul.

Orbs are generated for your team not for yourself. If you want to solo it that is fine. If you want a team you need to be a team player. Orbs are extremely helpful in every activity

All because you don't need them doesn't mean everyone else wouldn't either. It's not hard to make orbs. If it helps your teammates and stops people from dying then why not make them?
