I just achieved an all time low.
A friend asked me to run sword for him and he had a bunch of players he recruited from the LFG. For some reason, a level 31 in the team was making the call outs when to shoot a Crota. He isn't the sword runner, I am. He did this twice, threw my timing off. My 3rd running the sword, I made the mistake of engaging Crota before ogres, so it was a wipe. My 4th time around, I made sure to not enrage Crota before ogres. We had a teammate quit as they were downing Crota, and we all know what happens, Crota doesn't kneel and yes, he smacked me with his lovely sword. Back to the level 31 player, he blamed me for the recent wipe. He said that I wasn't making enough damage. I guess he doesn't remember what previously happened. He told that I sucked, then he booted me. Turns out that he has never completed hard Crota, let alone have experience in normal Crota. Oh, not to mention that he was using corrective measure to down Crota.
I'm all for helping out 30s and 31s, but if I have to help out an idiot like him again, I will start requiring everyone to be a 32. It's players like him that give other 31s a bad reputation.

2 RepliesIt is just a person not a number level class or what ever. it is one bad apple. Most guys out there will listen to the guy running the sword well I can't imagine a team letting someone else call out when to drop crota. It isn't a group though it is just one looser.

Whenever I'm not swordbearer I call out when to shoot after the first kneel of the sword.

These situations happen all the time. I don't always hate 31s but when I do it's because they are cocky pieces of shit who won't listen to constructive criticism

I call out when to down Crota, but only after he was initially taken down. Most people fire too soon and don't do damage.

1 ReplyAfter my experience last night, I've had it up to my eyeballs with all this "must be a 32" crap. This has nothing to do with the raid. In fact I have never completed either raid. Please gentle readers let me explain. We all know the bounty: Complete Any Strike Without Dying. So what do must of us do? We run Devil's Lair. Last night I had to make 4 attempts before finally completing it. Not because I kept dying, but because each time I was matched with two level 32s who kept dying and quitting. Now .. sure I probably should have just soloed it and finished. But these guys/girls were getting themselves killed before the first mesh layer was down! I would break from cover and risk getting killed to revive them, only to have them go to orbit. I finally got through it when I was matched with another 31 and a 29. Even after that, I don't think all level 32's are douche bags who can't beat a level 8 Dreg in a gun fight and I don't think these guys/girls give all other 32s a bad reputation. But I have to wonder if I'm only person who just might prefer running with 30's and 31's because we aren't under the mistaken impression that we are bullet proof.

1 ReplyWhen i was doing normal crota on my 32 lock a 31 hunter was like"hey let me sword bear, i'm really good at it" and i told him no, it doesn't make sense because I'm a 32 and can kill crota in 2 swords easily. Never the less, the team had trouble downing crota so i had to guess when to jump up and then got sliced into little bits by crota and his trusty sword. Eventually, after 5-6 wipes i told them i was just gonna juggle the relic and down crota myself.(i have gjallarhorn.) When doing this that god damn austist 31(fairly sure he was retarded) started calling shit and had the team fire rockets and screwed me up. He then continued to say warlocks are fakers because they use magic, it didn't make any sense because his arc blade, I'm sure was on the same tier of "magic" as my super. After that i told them i was leaving and the other part of the team was pissed that i was leaving them. and i had to say was that the 31 can go ahead and sword bear.

I always tell the Swordbearer in our Fireteam to count down from 3 when they're jumping up. At 2 everyone shoots rockets, and it works every time. I never understand when people are not running sword or hosting they decide to take lead...

1 ReplyIve been running/helping groups of players through crota normal so they can get gear and experience. One truth, almost everybody wants to cheese the bridge. I enjoy doing legit, but hey just helping. I have found that most people(the ones that talk) listen to the guidance, ask for advice and are overall thankful for the help, but when they say hey you wanna run hard mode, i just politely decline and tell em id be glad to once they get some more runs and xp. Met some good peeps helping out.

1 ReplyI have had this done to me aswell. Im the main sword bearer in my group but if any1 wants to have a crack im happy to let them try as much as they want. Except this 1 time. We had 5 of our main group and brought in a random. As soon as he came in he asked whos on sword so i called out i will b and lets get this done. For the next 5 minutes he explained to me wat to do. My group let him go and had a quiet laugh to our selves but let him feel important. 1st crota down, mid swing he pops up kills me then returns back to his knee. So this kid starts blaming me and repeats how to do it. 1 of my members cut him off and told him if he knows so much u run it. His reply. Oh yeah ill have a crack but iv never ran it iv seen it done on utube. Booted from fire team and we just did it with 5. Seriously if u run ya mouth make sure u can back it up. Its like a virgin saying there a sex god coz they have watched porn.

6 Repliesi dont think rank matters. stupid is stupid. i told a raid team to shoot rockets and saw only 2 firef from the same guy. nobody popped heavy or did the glitch. i enraged crota on the second sword and orbited. at least if they do the glitch, they understand why you need heavy.

He gives other 31s a bad rep? What? That's ridiculous. He's just a douche, it has nothing to do with the fact that he's a 31. There are assholes aplenty at every light level. He was an asshole at level 30, and 29, and 28, and he'll still be an asshole when he inevitably hits level 32. Assholes are assholes and they ruin games left and right no matter what level they are. And no, I'm not sticking up for 31s because I am one. I'm a 32. I just wanted to point out that there's no correlation between the facts that he's an asshole AND he's a level 31. And sorry you had that experience, I've been in similar situations and it sucks and is wholly unnecessary.

I had a similar experience, I turned 32 within the raid, we needed a few more people to down and damage Crota, someone in Fireteam invites a 31, guy complains about me being 32, I do the most damage, and I should bear the sword. I apologize, we restart raid for another chance at gear, we get into the "Pit/Abyss", first thing that comes out of level 31's mouth, "What are we supposed to do?!?!" Really?!?! O.o

A friend asks me to join with my hunter to be the swordbearer&i did.We went through the whole raid like it was nothing,we get at Crota and at this point a 32 titan says "So...how do we get him?" and I asked him what he meant and this guy tells me he had no idea how to take Crota down without the kneeling cheese,I proceed to explain the guy step by step and this dude does the following thing: [u]Meanwhile we were still cleaning the right room of the last three or two acolytes that kept freaking hiding,this guy goes out,takes the chalice,kills the swordbearer(he almost killed himself with HoC) and goes quickly on the left rock and starts screaming at us to take him down,we manage to go quickly to the right door and take his shield down and this "titan" goes up there slams Crota with the sword [b]JUST ONCE[/b] then proceeds to run away and starts smacking thralls until the sword disappeared&when the second swordbearer came out through the door he tried to do that again.[/u] Need I say,I asked my friend to give me the fireteam leadership and I booted his ass out of that fireteam.
