From a new Raider... Thank You
I am usually a PvP player most of the time. The game play is fun, and the lack of predictability in my opponents is a major factor for me.
Yesterday, however, I finally got to try my hand at the Raids from start to finish. They were awesome to say the least! All the puzzle solving was very fun, and the strategy and teamwork needed to finish was reminiscent of my PvP experience.
The major thing that helped me get into the Raids was the team I was with. I don't remember their names, but they got rid of all of my excuses. As soon as I told them I didn't know what I was doing (relic, portals, oracles), they had me on the relic every time, going into portals every time. It was intimidating at first, but after doing all the relic handling for the whole raid, I am confident enough to run the relic whenever.
So if I could sum this all up, it would be to say Thank you. Thank you to all the PLAYERS who have the Patience and Time to help others learn. It would be easier and save more time to boot inexperienced players, but you take the time to teach. You all are the real Guardians.

Because some people keep inquiring, my drops were: FATEBRINGER, Corrective Measure, and Timebreaker Sparrow. The rest was shards. I also found the players that helped me in my recent raid parties, with the help from a few of you!

1 ReplyEveryone has to have a first time, and hopefully, players with experience will see this and take it upon themselves to be the excellent teachers that they may not have had. :) A wonderful post, I'm sure the fire team who aided you will see this and appreciate your gratitude - something that many who receive aid nowadays simply do not convey.

2 RepliesI like this post. FYI, upgrayedd Collective Measure. Run Field Scout. Use in Crucible and collect points. I don't know why, but it's the finest machine gun I have ever used in PVP. +1 for Buells.

1 ReplyI love your story! I also had a lot of enjoyment from my first raids. I still find them to be the most enjoyable aspect of the game. To help others have the same experience, keep a positive outlook and vibe whenever possible! It becomes contagious and is great for the community! Congrats

1 ReplyFatebringer....eff you -__- I'm at 50+ templar completions and no fatebringer. But seriously, most ppl are willing to help others. I run noobs thru the raid as often as I can, it's so much fun to teach people!

1 ReplyGlad you found people wiling to walk you through it. I used to help randoms through at one point in time, but since joining a clan and the clan growing, I spend more time helping my new clan mates through. I still try to do at least one run with randoms a week, and I must say it gets a little frustrating. Even when doing it with "experienced" randoms I find it can still be frustrating. I feel by now people that are "experienced" should be able to jump in with randoms and get it done fairly smoothly, but that just usually isn't the case. The team work just isn't there. I guess my point is to get full enjoyment out of this game, be it raids, strikes, PvP, whatever...find a group and stick with them. If you try to lone wolf everything, you are missing out on what this game was built for....

4 RepliesThe VoG was a much better experience than CE. Maybe because my expectations lowered and I wasn't as excited as I was for VoG. I personally think VoG was better put together and had more though put into it. Hard CE had little to no changes from normal, and the raid itself had little though out into it, you could solo it. Nobody has yet to solo VoG: you can't. VoG: 9/10 (bugs) CE: 6/10

The forum rage queens overshadow all of the fantastic people in game who are willing to help a new raider experience their first raid. Congrats on getting through and most importantly, having fun. The people you are with are always more important than the content.

3 RepliesI never have a problem helping newbies or low levels through the raids. I love doing it. You make new friends while helping people out. Just yesterday I ran a group consisting of 4 31s and a 30 through hard crota. We did crota in 5 tries. They learned and adapted fast. I would rather play with people like that then 5 other 32s who all have their own ways of completing it and if you accidentally -blam!- up then you have to hear their mouths. Not saying all 32s are like that but I've encountered plenty.
