Make purchases a difficult decision, 100+ coins per weapon exotic.
Make the best exotics [i]only[/i] obtainable after 15+ days played.
Make it worth the effort.

If someone can get a Gjallarhorn from a lucky drop the first time they kill Atheon, others should be able to save up 27 coins in one week to buy one. Did you get yours from a drop? If so, don't even pretend to know what "effort" is.
