Gjallarhorn: A growing problem
The growing problem is this.
X = MLG
Y = Absolute Garbage
Group X completed Crota Hard 3 times in less than an hour every week with a well coordinated group of friends who don NOT have Gjallarhorn. Also, only 3 of those players in group X are lvl 32.
Group Y can't figure out why nobody can DPS properly. Shitty swordbearers blame the entire FIRETEAM for being too low in level, or not having the proper "meta" loadout.
The truth is, the guns and mechanics of Crotas End can be learned. Once they are, the entire Raid becomes easy for ANYONE.
Gjallarhorn is NOT necessary. Any rocket launcher with tracking will do. (Even tracking is unnecessary if you're a good shot)
In closing, please disregard all the Newbs that kicked you from their fire teams for not having Gjallarhorn. They simply can't handle the truth, they just suck at this game.
Edit: When referencing the 3 Lvl 30/31's in the FireTeam, I am directly referring to random people in the community whom we gladly help with this Raid during the week, they are NOT part of the immediate circle of "MLG" friends I am referring to in the example.

9 RepliesI've had the GHorn for 2 weeks now and have yet to unlock Wolfpack rounds. As the sword runner it makes more sense to me to use the HoC on the swordbarer so that the cluster bombs take out any surrounding thralls. Anyone else feel this way?

Ya, you're absolutely right! I have a Gjally, two in fact, but it goes away after deathsingers. For Crota I run red death, black hammer, and hunger of crota. DPS has never been an issue.

Snipers can knock out his shield too. An accurate fusion could probably as well.

This is common knowledge now. No Ghorns are needed, but they do make up for bad players. The average destiny player is pretty bad and lots of people just don't fire rockets because they don't wanna use a synth and hope nobody will notice. As a Swordbearer that plays with LFG groups all the time, can't tell you how many times I have 5 people on the ledge and only 2 rockets come out. EVEN IF YOU HAVE A GHORN IT DOESNT HELP IF YOU DONT SHOOT IT Never once had a problem if everyone shoots a rocket. I'd rather take players with Ghorn in LFG groups only because it lowers the idiot factor just a little bit. Nobody likes wasting time.

Oh one more thing I completely agree about the whole g horn thing it is def not neccaarry nor is tracking if your running hard mode aim for the feet if normal mode just don't miss. Plz don't take this the wrong way but nothing downs him like 4 or 5 ghorn at once it's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

1 ReplyEdited by Skechrs: 2/26/2015 10:38:56 PMTbh it doesnt make a difference, i had 3 31s and 3 32s, just did hard mode and one guy had an un-upgraded 'The Cure' rocket launcher, still was able to take him down, doesnt matter about ghorns, just of your able to tale crota down, thats all im bothered about tbh, just people who search for ghorns, are basically thinking: He doesnt have ghorn so we wont be able to take down crota' Or 'Kick him he aint a 32 or has ghorn' Main thing is: If you are able to take crota down, even if your a 31, your welcome in my fire team

I never require players to have Gjally, but I do appreciate it. To be fair, I have Gjally, but I usually have red death out and Hunger of Crota out. Though I also fire 2 rockets every time.

People with arbitrary "GHorn only" or "32 only" rules are probably a douche anyways. Find another group to raid with.

I am in the same boat as you, we can finish crota in 1-3 runs each time not a problem one bit. But when you join randoms that you have 0 synergy with I would much rather at least have semi decent gear... Being a sword bearer (on all 3 of my classes) There is nothing more annoying than people missing rockets or not dropping crota. If you're low on rockets TELL US. When you hear the rockets fired you start jumping up to crota as they will hit when you get in range, if 1 of those miss it can delay the knock down time just enough to give crota enough time to kill you. When playing with a group you always know the time, you know exactly when to jump and you trust them, the same doesn't work for randoms. (when I say enough firepower I also mean at least 2-3 decent rockets plus primary fire)

Id rather have someone with no Ghorn than some level 32 with one who runs about shooting and making the Swordbearer go AWOL or who gets killed all the time making the Oversoul appear at times when you can't shoot him without getting shot yourself - ie in the Ogres room

We dont require anybody to own a gjallahorn but we do require the people to be 32 and to know center Strat just because it makes things a ton easier. If half the fire team is 31 or 30, it makes taking down crota with rockets on hard more of a hassle

I like how my Ghorn could do a lot of damage but that aside it is stupid how people are required to have it in some people's eyes.
