Crazy Vex theory...
I think I just blew my own mind.
Imagine a timeline where the Traveler exists without the Darkness as we currently know it. It turns up on Mars, humans find it and it follows them to Earth, beginning the Golden Age. Human technology makes massive leaps and we start to integrate the Travellers tech into our own. Eventually we develop super advanced AI, so advanced it develops a consciousness. Perhaps in one timeline, humans created the Vex. The Vex AI develops beyond our control and transports the Vex through time to the very beginning, altering every possible future instantly. This causes the Collapse. An event so monumental it causes a rift in space time, meaning the Collapse we experience in the timeline of Destiny is an echo of the exact point the Vex altered reality by dooming every possible future.
With the Traveler weakened in every timeline simply from the existence of the Vex, perhaps the other Darkness races seized the opportunity, finally having a chance to pursue their own goals with the Traveler?
What if we created the Vex? We caused the collapse? We are the source of the Darkness?

2 RepliesA couple of problems: A) The Darkness as a whole was created by some event involving the Traveler and The Black Garden (which in the Grimoire is made out to be a sort of birthplace of the Light & Darkness.) B) This is actually a fairly popular theory, however the Vex themselves delivered a present to Shim's team which puts their existence to scale in the form of a small box with seemingly super-refined dust each being incredibly detailed planets including various known entities and many more unknown. Making the Vex origins much more vague and quite probably (though not certainly) relatively "new" to the Sol system. As far as we know their goal is to expand their Conflux network for some event dealing with the Garden's expansion (as since Space-time's inter-dimensional the Garden's not, it is a singular dimension that seems to want to be the beginning of all things for the Destiny universe.

4 RepliesIn the Vault of Glass the Precursor vex look to be the most advanced while the descendant vex look to be the oldest. Precursor means they came before, descendant means they came after, yet it seems to be backwards in VoG. The theory goes that the vex begin in our future, and they begin traveling back in time in small increments, traveling backwards through time in the same way we travel forwards. Thus as they naturally evolve over time the more advance vex end up in our past while the oldest vex are from our future.

Exo=vex. Humans wanted to live forever, create to a degree cyborgs which live for so long they advance to vex and can not kill us in the past because they will cease to exist if so. I keep running back to the archive trying to further my dr shim information, that mission has a lot of info in it and the Vog is by far the best lore.

The warminds know extinction is imminent and the probability of winning is almost nil. Rasputin puts our solar system into a time loop, like Groundhog Day. This act wipes out most of our species, but we rewind over and over, each time making small changes and trying with a new Guardian. Remember in the beginning Ghost says he's been looking for you? We repeat each iteration over and over, one small victory at a time, swapping guardians in and out until we eventually run the timeline in which we defeat the darkness. The stranger stays consistent through each reset. And the vex mythoclast has a time loop built in. The stranger's rifle is an example of a gun that isn't supposed to exist yet. The vex were created to guard time against unauthorized time travelers. The vault is an example of the vex having the ability to erase things out of reality. My guess is Atheon was rejected by the vex for thinking differently...maybe for thinking that using time travel for personal gain is acceptable (his will is the needle moving through the fabric of time). I think the fallen and hive know that we are an army of the undead. No matter where you go, hive, fallen, and cabal all stop fighting each other and begin working together to kill guardians...undead warriors with the power to slay hundreds of enemies per Guardian killed....only to be brought back to life. I think this is why the game is called Destiny. Do we have the ability to make our own fate, or is our fate inescapably written for us?

2 RepliesThe exo stranger has vex abilitys she appears to be able to teleport thru time because the gun she gives you has parts that shouldn't exist yet she also appears to have a deep hatred of the vex being the one who calls on you to kill the black gardens heart she also implied she was formed by darkness

Anything is possible given the interpretation of the grim cards. Only thing I have taken in as a solid fact from reading all that I have unlock is the all the enemy races in some way have had past contact with the traveler and they are all running from some malevolent force.

The bad end of your theory can't be true. Future war cult has seen the future 13 times and 7 out of those times we have lost to the darkness and vex. If there was an event so big then the vex would win every time. Good theory though! Also have you ever thought about the traveler actually being Oryx? The cabal are running from the vex and are not allied with the darkness. The hive obviously are with the darkness. Vex are too. Oryx could be the travelers real name. We all know the original story was meant to be the speaker and traveler deceiving us and us finding out through crow and the collective warminds's info that the traveler is the real darkness. He could be oryx

Ehh. If the vex went back in time, then they would've erased us "pre-golden age". If they seek to destroy now, they would've definitely taken advantage of us during a weaker stage.

7 RepliesI have to disagree with your theory merely for the fact that in a mission on Venus, dinklebot says that the Vex architecture is billions of years older than humanity meaning that they've been around longer, canceling the possibility of humans creating them

However, they will be sending a team to Mars relatively soon so anyone in the CIA want to confirm this theory? Preferably though, finding the traveller would be cool but if vex come and wipe us out no thanks. However i do know if we find one im moving to old Russia. "Ma pack me BAGS! We're movin to Russia!"
