Black Hammer or Ice Breaker?
Sup guys and gals. I just got Black Hammer last night doing Crotas End and was really excited. A lot of people tho say Ice Breaker is better (which I don't have). Just curious if people can give me the pros/cons for each one and which one is better for each type of enemy. Thanks!

Honestly, i love em both. Normally i have my IB loaded and ready, but in an instance where i need a different exotic (ex. Gally or Vex) my black hammer takes over with no issue.

2 RepliesThe most difficult decision you ever make in destiny is to chose between IB & gally So if you have the black hammer thats will help a lot .

I love them both, most of the time I use black hammer, but if I actually had to choose I would keep my ice breaker

So ill say it for about the hundredth time; A) if you have ballerhorn; Bh B) if you dont have Ballerhorn, IB C) if youre against 75% of the bosses so far in this game; bh

Easy answer. BH is for bosses (some), IB for everything else. However, there are many legendary snipers I would take over both, assuming ammo will be somewhat available. BH is trash compared to a good roll on a legendary sniper. Like my longbow synthesis from a cryptarch package. It has up to 9 per mag with clown cartridge, and it holds 36 rounds on spawn. BH never even gets out of my vault. Not worth the time for the 3 parts of the game where it wrecks all.

Use Ice Breaker with the Perk that makes you aim down your sights faster as a Primary and Quick scope. Soooo... fuuunnn.

black hammer for bosses, ice breaker for literally everything else

Dude, it's the black hammer by a long shot, if you choose ice breaker, get better.

Bh good for crota cp part and if u have jellyhorn use bh if not use icebreaker

Icebreaker better for nightfalls and raids (assuming you don't have a gjallarhorn). For strike grinding though, black hammer wins hands down.

IB: regen ammo BH: slightly higher impact, legendary leaves exotic for another slot

1 ReplyIce breaker: Pros: tons if damage, enemies combust when you kill them, generates own ammo. Cons: bad recoil, hard to get Black hammer: pros: hard hitting, great on bosses, it's called the black hammer Cons: recoil, it's not the icebreaker

The better sniper you are, the better black hammer becomes. In my opinion you need to be a ***very*** good sniper to make it objectively better than IB. Much better than I am, and I am a good sniper (2.16 crucible k/d with sniper as most killed-with special).

Depends on the situation, if it's a boss Black Hammer if you need ammo Ice Breaker

Black Hammer is awesome. If only it had the range of the Ice Breaker. I now use Black Hammer instead of Ice Breaker. It's also very powerful.

I use both all the time. Ice Breaker is great for adds and things with small crit spots, but Black Hammer can not be beat for bosses.

I personally like both. But obviously IB wins in convenience for the ammo regen. I actually got Black Hammer first time doing Crota today

My biggest issue with Black Hammer is it has a small reserve ammo. Only hold 3 rounds and it's perk is you have to land 3 head shots. So in the correct situation, sure, you can fire rounds forever. But I'm always missing a shot here or there. Having to reload after 3 shots sucks. I find I can do far more effective and visit any damage with any of the following: Patience and Time LDR Icebreaker The Supremacy A lot of times I reach for my LDR as I'm using an exotic heavy or primary. LDR and Supremacy are underrated IMO. Both have 6 in the mag, large reserve, super low recoil and hit hard and fire fast. But Icebreaker, yeah, it does not disappoint.

Ideally both. IB is great anytime, while BH is great for bosses that don't move much. Very situational.
