Question for Smokers
Is it really necessary to throw your cigarette butts on the ground when you're done? If you want to kill yourself with cigs have at it that's your right. I'm just tired of seeing people trash the outdoors all the time and walk off laughing.

I don't smoke tobacco, I do toss my roaches on the ground though. They're biodegradable so it doesn't hurt the environment. I can see why someone wouldn't want to see cigarette butts all over the place though

I use bins if I'm near one. If not I roll my own, so biodegradable cotton filters. Random fact though: birds collect fag ends and use them to line their nests. The chemicals absorbed by the filters keep parasites away without harming the young.

8 RepliesNo one finishes a cigarette and goes like "HAH -blam!- you environment". We just do it because there aren't really garbage cans everywhere. And do you even know how -blam!-ing foul a cigarette bud smells like? Smoking makes you smell not that great already but a cigarette bud smells 10x worse. I already have to have the smell on my fingers. I'm not gonna have it everywhere else just because.

I only toss mine when I'm out in the middle of the desert partying. Same goes with all my beer cans. But in town, ashtray in my truck/house. So no reason to litter

I throw my cigs in any ashtray or put them out and throw them in a bin, given I see one. If I don't, I just throw it on the ground [u]where it will get cleaned up anyways by my town's cleaning staff[/u] and not somewhere in the bushes where it takes 300 years to rot and turn into organic material. I have a holiday job where I also have to pick them up and I'm completely fine with it.

4 RepliesIs when you're holding a roll, it burns to the filter which is very small and will burn your fingers if you keep a hold of it. I'm coming up close to 4 weeks smoke free though after being a full time smoker for 2 years. Feels amazing.

Cigarettes can at least be swept up all cleanly, but gum or any other kind of food stuff for that matter (wrappers, bags and so many drink cans or cups) are gross and messy. Who are all of the people that just set their half-full soda on the side of the road, anyway? Stahp it.

And you are probably the kind of person that complains that cigs are on the floor but then throws rubbish on the floor or spits gum out onto the floor. don't hate on the smokers unless you are some perfect guy who has never littered.
