(TL;DR In the bottom)
Im making another topic here to help raise awareness in hopes of bungie actually doing something sooner rather than later, so we dont end up getting the same late exotic buff as pre-TDB.
Here is a small comparison video I made, to show necrochasm compared to guns like fatebringer, vex and atheons epilogue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGfcslMIUo8
The gun itself is fine, perks are cool no need to change any of that, but it needs a seriouse bump up in impact to compete with other primary weapons (even the VoG legendarys have no hard time doing just as good or better!) or to even have a spot in the loadout, yes its a fun to use gun and some people just enjoy collecting. but for crying out loud, the weapon is supposed to stand out like vex did, its the goddam signature gun of TDB, it needs to make you consider using it instead of gjallahorn!
But as of right now, if you need arc damage, then even the pulse rifle is a much better gun to use which is so sad!
Bungie says that they listen, hopefully they can also show swift action when there is a clear agreement between thousands of players, across multiple boards, that the expansions signature gun is horrendous in its current state!
Please bungie, the listening should be over by now, action ! Please!
(English is not my native, hopefully people will still understand!)
PS. It scares the crap out of me when Deej's weekly makes it sound like they have one guy fixing the heavy weapon bug or the vault space. It gives me bad hopes for this gun receiving the buff it so desperately needs, anytime soon! Hopefully adding a bit of impact to a gun is not that overwhelming, as fixing a bug sounds to be! I cant even imagine the amount of money they make, yet the time most of the things takes to fix/balance makes it feel like they lack staff.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just did a quick test, or comparison, just to also get an idea of where its at, I compared it to fatebringer, I know its a hand cannon and proberly not the weapon it should be compared with, but with almost the same perks and same elemental damage and same loadout spot, I though it would be the right one to compare, as it would be the gun I would use instead.
Did a quick test of damage... And its a joke. a whole emptyed necro mag, doing precision damage with every single round would dish out 4158 damage. With fatebringer I could just do body shots and I would deal 4901 damage...
phogoth, whole mag:
Fatebringer-
Precision: 7345 (565 damage per shot according to my friend, could be wrong.)
Body: 4901 (377 damage per shot according to my friend, could be wrong.)
Necro-
Precision: 4158 (99 damage per shot)
Body: 3360 (80 damage per shot)
Ofc, this is the necro, using agressive ballistics for maximum impact but less stability.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
)
Edit: Decided to also do a DPS calculation to see the difference between fatebringer and necro. My math is super bad, but gave it a shot anyways, it wont be precise as I will round everything up if its above .50 and down if its .49 . The timings I did with a stop watch and just shoot and let the game automaticly reload. But please, if its wrong, then you are more than welcome to correct me!
The math behind this next part is simple, but since I am a retard when its something about math, I will share how I did it, so someone can correct me if it's wrong!
First I found out the damage per bullet by shooting the mob I wanted to do a DPS calculation on.
Then I found out how long it took for the gun to empty the mag, reload and be ready again.
and last I decided to do the dps calculation over 10mins as it seems to be around the max time you will use on a boss fight.
So what I did was this, I will here use Necrochasm precision damage on a weak mob which is 180 (with CQB):
Mag size is 42 and time to empty, reload and be ready again was 5seconds.
600(10mins in seconds) / 5 = 120
So that meens I can do this cycle 120 times in the 10min time span.
Then I found out how much damage 1 cycle would do:
180 x 42 = 7,560 damage
Then I found the total damage in the course of 10mins:
7,560 x 120 = 907,200
and last to translate that to DPS over 10mins, I multiplied the total damage with the amount of seconds 10mins have:
907,200 / 600 = 1,512 DPS
That was my stoneage approch, on how I calculated the DPS of the guns. Theres proberly a easier way, but this seemed to work well in my head! lol
So after a few goes i ended up with this:
From full mag to zero rounds and reload till ready again, it took the guns this time:
Fatebringer: 9seconds
Necro: 5seconds
Then I took the precision damage from before, so this is dps on a boss:
Precision damage on level 26 phogoth:
Fatebringer: 565
Necrochasm: 99
On smaller mobs necro wont have a living chance, as the difference per round is over thousand damage.
Normal level 26 mob precision damage:
Fatebringer: 1505
Necrochasm: 198
Making fatebringer a clear winner in dealing with lower armored mobs, specially since firefly is 100% procc chance and most mobs only takes 1 shot!
Anyways, this is the Boss fight DPS I ended up with:
The amount of damage each gun will do with precision damage over the course of 10mins:
Fatebringer: 484,770
Necrochasm: 498,960
This is ofc, if EVERY SINGLE BULLET, is a precision hit, during the whole 10mins.
DPS over 10mins will then be:
Fatebringer: 807 DPS
necrochasm: 831 DPS
Again, this is if every single bullet over the course of 10mins, is shot as fast as possible and every single one, (42 Necro, 13 fatebringer) is a precision hit. Its pretty certain that in the hands of a good aimer, fatebringer will still have more success with maintaining the consecutive headshots.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's also the atheon's epilogue vs Necrochasm:
Test was just fast done on a Yellow level 28 Vandal:
Precision damage per bullet.
Atheons epilogue: 76 - 77(Glass half full)
Necrochasm: 90
1 cycle speed:
Atheons epilogue: 7 (it was right around 6,5 everytime, so ill round it up)
Necrochasm: 5s
Amount of cycles in 10mins:
Atheons epilogue: 86
Necrochasm: 120
1 Full cycle damage:
Atheons epilogue: 36x76 = 2736 34x77 = 2618 total: 5354
Necrochasm: 3780
The damage total over 10mins will then be:
Atheons epilogue: 460,444
Necrochasm: 453,600
DPS Results between Atheons epilogue and Necrochasm:
Atheons epilogue: 767 DPS
Necrochasm: 756 DPS
Its just sad.
)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the perks, firefly and cursebringer do the same damage, cursebringer might do a little more, but so far it seems insignificant, the only real difference is the elemental, yet firefly is 100% proc chance and cursebringer is not. cascade and outlaw, same thing happens here. Cascade and Outlaw is 150% reload speed, yet Outlaw only require you to get a precision kill, while cascade require you to get a melee kill... Again, in any situation, outlaw will outshine cascade and in the end fatebringer will almost allways have increased reload speed, which necro won't! Rangefinder, I wont say anything about, as it wont matter, Fatebringer by default has more range than necro gets, even while aiming down sight.
And just to do a wakeup call here, were comparing a 300 attack damage "old raid" legendary gun, with the new fresh hard raid exotic, that currently holds the highest attack damage in the game of 339(wish it actually mattered!)
TL;DR : Necrochasm is in BAAAAAAD need of a buff- If you have fatebringer, then ignore necrochasm for now, as necrochasm dosent come anywhere near the power of the fatebringer, in any situation.

Yes it does.
-
Take away casquade and give it a perk that makes hitting bullets do increasing damage
-
-
Here here. Bump.
-
Bump! LoL, if bungie won't fix these guns till after HoW, then I guess I'm buying HoW late because I will NOT give them anymore money until my current endgame weapons act like endgame weapons.
-
I'm not reading all that but yeah it defo needs a buff :)
-
Bump......
-
Bump. It's awful. It's the hardest gun to get, and yet is the worst exotic auto rifle, and is outperformed by most legendary autos as well, given that all autos are not competitive with anything right now. Furthermore, why does it not have hive disruptor like the rest of the raid guns?
-
It's not likely Bungle is even going to address this gun tell a couple weeks after HoW. That's all they are focused on it seems with all the updates.

Please check out this weapon balancing article and give feedback. It's a good read, thanks. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/117004290/0/0

I agree

1 ReplyJust got mine last week. I knew it was underwhelming from what people were saying, but it was a new toy so i figured id mess around with it for a few hours. Unfortunatly what people are saying is true. This weapon is a huge disappointment. This gun can barely handle tier 1 enemies let alone tier 2 or bosses. And the crucible... holy shit dude. Dont even try unless you feel like trolling or getting a lot of assists. Its vaulted until bungie addresses it.
-
1 ReplyBungoo is too busy eating figgy puddy they bought with profits from destiny sales.
-
Bump!!!!
-
-
First auto rifles need to be put back to their former glory or at least close enough to contend with pulse rifles and then night rof low impact auto rifles need a buff to make them a viable choice of a weapon.
-
Yep. It needs a big buff. Like double the mag size. Just when you are about to drop an enemy, the bullets run out. And you get an assist while reloading. Its a shame too, because it could have been the most fun weapon in destiny. Oh yea, and that cascade perk is a joke on an exotic raid weapon.
-
Bump....still not buying into HoW until this is fixed!!!!!!
-
I don't have it but I think it deserves a buff because by the time I get it I don't want it to be all crappy
-
Dear god give it a buff I could care less if they buffed just the impact and stability
-
1 ReplyI like the guns that fire very fast with almost no impact. But, (i didnt read the entire post) you could just put the perk on that decreases stability and increase impact with fitted stock. I am about to get in four days or so, so im going to try those perks on it. Honestly, i think it is fine.

The crux is like Bruce Jenner after surgery, beautiful but no balls

1 ReplyBump this 100 times. I can't believe it's been 4 months without a buff on this weapon. Seriously Bungie, what are you thinking right now? Once upon a time Bungie was my favourite developer. I seems that most of the real Bungie stayed with 343. After playing Destiny and seeing how horriblly Bungie is handling patches and expansions I've begun to lose faith in them...
-
1 ReplyOk the Necrochasm is bad now, but trust me in HoW, Bungie isn't going to let that weapon become trash. It'll become beast in crucible and everyone will want one. Just wait
