Edited by AeroSchmidt: 1/29/2015 7:35:58 PMI've got Exotic's three ways, they have dropped, I've completed bounties, and I've used the coins I've saved to buy them. I feel that I've "earned" the coins I have, and I "earned" the Bounty Exotic's because I know what I had to do to get them. Drops are so very random by design, the last two weeks the Weekly Nightfall has dropped 14 shards for me....
-
The only earned guns are the ones that drop in raids. And with the number of exploits out there, a lot of those weren't even earned.
-
I've gotten every single exotic gun from RNG besides No Land Beyond. I bought that from Xur.
-
I don't believe in the dichotomy you suggest but I'll give you a +1 for the clever branding.
-
Buying from xur is an earn in my book. Earning the stange coins from completing the weekly. Cashing in for weapons!
-
Nobody earns anything with a RGN loot system. It's all luck.
-
2 RepliesThere is only one way to earn a weapon... exotic bounties
-
Headshotter
-
You spelled EarnGer wrong tho
-
More earner than xurner. 85% of my gear is pre expansion and required lots of glimmer to upgrade to new damage
-
1 Reply'player'. that's what i am.

2 RepliesThere's no such thing as "earning" weapons in Destiny, unless you are talking about exotic bounties. So Xûr is a good way to compensate the RNG system.
-
Earners are xurners are one in the same. It's more like earners and people who are extremely lucky.
-
Most are both, not necessarily 50/50. The more hours you got in the less you rely on xûr Exotic gear I've only gotten from xûr I don't know that I've ever had any drop for me Last Word and IceBreaker were absolutely worth buying from xûr I've gotten Patience&Time, MidaMultiool and Hardlight from Roc Strikes Gjallahorn, RedDeath and NoLandBeyond I got from VOGhard

14 RepliesA xurner is a true earner. Fact. You unequivocally earn those coins and motes of light by completing dailies, weeklies, and leveling up. Thus anything you purchase with those currencies are earned. Ditto if you complete an exotic bounty. You earned it. Nothing random about it. It's like a paycheck. You buy something with your hard earned cash, you earned it. If it dropped via RNG as reward from chests, crucible, strikes or raids, it's not earned. It's luck.
-
Master rahool supplied me with about 90 percent of the exotics I have
-
What's the difference?
-
You earn strange coins, or you got a lucky roll. You need some logic and less beer.
-
2 RepliesRng=not earned, xur=earned. You have to earn strange coins, whereas you don't have to do anything to he a drop in a nightfall. You can literally sit in the back and get a better drop then the best player
-
Buying the game = earned. -blam!- RNG v Xur.

I picked up MIDA multi tool from ROC strikes yesterday. Did I earn it? What's even better is I was messing with NLB and UR and was by far the worst in the group.
-
I'm a little bit of both Earned- Bad Juju, Thorn, Invective, Super Good Advice, Suros Regime, Red Death, Gjallarhorn Xurned- Ice Breaker V1/V2, Don't Touch Me, Knucklehead Radar, An Insurmountable Skullfort, Helm of Saint-14(engram), Achlyophage Symbiote(engram)

1 ReplyThe disconnect comes from the fact so many people come from games where that top tier of gear is really rare and can require months of grinding and/or tons of raiding to get. They then come here and assume it's the same way. When they realize how different it is they pitch a fit and demand this game be changed to be the same as the others. Which I've never understood, why would you want every game to be the same?? I swear some people just want this to be WoWFPS.

I'm all honesty, what's the difference?
