Why even add people if you just kick them without even an explanation?
Edit 5: Props to those who don't mind helping people get "free" gear. I think it shows a level of maturity. I always thank the people that help me and have no problem helping others even if I'm at the very end. Wish people wouldn't treat their strikes like it's their house and require permission to join even though they left they're fireteam open. My fireteam is always open if I have room so feel free to add me if you're the same way.
Edit 4: I'm surprised how many people actually admit booting people at the and of a boss fight after getting help from that person. There's something very wrong with you as a person if you actually do that. I'll say it again though, CHANGE YOUR SETTINGS if you don't want people to join you. If you don't want to be bothered at a hotel wouldn't you put the "do not disturb" sign up? It's common sense really. How is it rude to join someone when you added them. That's like giving someone your phone number but get mad when they call. Loosen up people!!
Other edits:
Edit 3: So it seems some don't mind people just joining in to help(myself included) and some think it's just rude. That's fine, but why not just change your settings then?
I also find it crazy that people compare a game space to their home and make that comparison. You're already in the comfort of your home, why so private and personal?
Edit 2: There's a lot of people saying it's rude without an invitation or messaging first so why not change privacy setting. If you leave it open you basically inviting people.
Edit: If you're waiting for a friend you could simply say so then boot.
Also I've been in many situations on nightfalls when I join at the right time to prevent a wipe at the boss so sending a message would have been too late.
I wonder if I can Necro this....

3 RepliesWhy would you even bother to kick someone from a Nightfall when you can solo them? let alone need 3 players. Anyone who does it obviously has personality issues. Like being a complete moronic cock.

Bro i got a better one for you. This dude invited me to his vog raid, and i joined the party chat too. But then one more guy joined the fireteam, but they didnt invite him to the party chat, and where talking about how they where just gonna kick him when the other dude who was in the chat was ready to go in. I thought that was some real shit, so me being a badass took the relic and wrecked shit UP, i was bringing down the shield left and right, destroying gorgons like its no ones bizness! We got him down to less than a quarter health before they kicked our 6th man and the other dude joined in. So i got my super, im calling it out, "ok shoot him in 3... 2... 1..." And then they went ham with their heavies, and when his health is almost down, i jump off the edge and the relic kills everyone. I got em good my niqqas, i got em good.

I invited a guy who kicked me before we killed crota on hard Invited him Kicked him Laughed my ass off
-
How about you just don't join in the first place!?
-
8 RepliesBecause idiots forget that there an invite only option.
-
If people join without asking I will instantly boot them before they even spawn. We always have a party chat open, you can just join in and ask if the spot it really open. Sometimes the last spot is open because someone is changing to their level 27/28. Open doesn't mean you can join.

The OP is just your typical entitlement generation kid.

Edited by UnseenXMoss: 2/18/2015 5:47:09 PMMy only petpeeve is randoms joining my stuff randomly, because my settings don't stay in invite or friends only. You join, start asking for a bunch of stuff, you're voice is very squeaky, or if you start telling me how to run my own damn nightfall. I actaully solowd last weeks, has a 28 come in tell me I am not doing it right and proceeded to get us both killed and then get pissy that we wiped and left. If you have a.shitty connection I may kick you. Usually you'd get a heads up.

If people join without asking they are a jerk.
-
I will kick you. If I wanted help I would ask for it. Just because you can join doesn't mean you should join. How about sending a message first. Maybe something like. I see that you are doing blah blah and you have a appt or two open so you mins if I join. Not just hey look maybe he is at the end and I don't have to do a damn thing. No sir. What do you do with a soccer ball? Kick it.

I completely share your feelings on this subject. I'll be adding you, for sure.

68 RepliesIf you join uninvited then you will help me through until the boss/ halfway through the boss and then I will kick you from my game after having it set to closed so your scum ass can't join back. It seems like a dick move, but joining without an invite is also a dick move.

1 ReplyI have a friend who kicks if you join towards the end of a strike no matter what

1 ReplyI never boot people from nightfalls, weeklies or raids.add me on xbone if you need somebody to roll with

1 ReplyIve done that before but it was to a kid that was screaming into his mic and was just sitting there during the boss fight... His reaction was sooooo funny

1 ReplyI do it right before we finish so they don't get rewards
-
Console? You sound fun to play with

Heres a thought....make your own team so that you are the leader.......

1 ReplyI've got mine set to friends only. If they are on my friends list they can join whenever they want, doesn't matter to me if it's at the start or at the very end. I got offered help when I needed it and I have no problem doing the same. If you get annoyed that your psn friends joins you on activites, either change your settings or don't have any psn friends. Being a total fvcking toolbag never got anyone anywhere.

1 ReplyI had two 32's that helped clear half of the first room, and then sat back down at the bottom of the stairs. They occasionally came out to revive me. They just kinda followed me through without doing anything. Once we got to Omnigul, they just sat back again. So I solo'd Onnigul. Right before I was about to jump in a kill her, I booted them. Got a Plan C.

If I'm with my usual NF buddy and someone drops in without an invite, it rarely results in a kick. If they're a friend, fine. If they're a random and they talk, fine. If they're a random and they don't talk, then we just carry on doing our thing and hope they can pull their weight. Some people can't get a team together so need to grab randoms. If it's us, cool, just so long as they know what they're doing. If they aren't talking and they die due to stupidity, we'll leave their orb where they dropped until we've cleared that section. No need to kick. The guy just wants a reward and can't solo it.

Edited by jinxmitchell: 2/18/2015 3:55:45 PMI had a guy go afk for the boss fight, once. He didn't say anything. I waited a bit, but booted him after a few minutes and got a replacement. I'm not here to encourage leeching.

I purposely have a audio chat lobby set up as soon as I start destiny, if u want to join me enter that lobby and ask. It's that simple. The reason my stuff is open is bc I'm waiting on someone to join in and I'm getting the map started to hurry it along. If u can't be bothered to join that chat and ask them ur getting booted IF I'm waiting on someone. I'm not going into the menus to switch from party to game chat just bc u didn't want to join it

1 ReplyIf I am soloing it and I get to the end, I check my friends list for people to invite quick to get drops.

I actually enjoy it ;D
