red death is the new ghorn
I don't want to play with people who can't stay alive and hold their own in the raid .
The new hard raid isn't about dps , it's all about being able to maintain a routine and help one another stay alive to deliver the final blow to crota .
The ghallahorn is good for shields but the red death is great for staying alive .

Edit 2: can't believe this has more then 500 comments now . I've beat the raid , and I've used both weapons but, I find red death more useful due to health regen perk . Hunger of crota is a great sub . You don't need ghallahorn .

Red death is my go to weapon. Makes Croats presence barely a nuisance. What gets me isn't dropping Crota, it's people dying. Regen is necessary and this way saves everyone the trouble of farming orbs

I don't need it as I can stay alive no problem with a hunter or titan but I wish to hell I had it

2 RepliesRed Death was MUUUUUUCH better at the start of the game (September, October, November). Once it got that gun update they made Red Death's impact go down a bunch and its fire rate/ kick go way up. Now its not as good or anywhere near as fun to use

Lol the red death isn't a must like the Gally. You can use exotic armor if you need it for health. As a warlock you can use energy drain + claws of ahamkara to get 2 full hp recoveries. Suros helps. Alot are more useful than red death when it comes to hp regeneration. o_o Gjallarhorn to me is still most important but it's also not needed. Lol

Edited by BennyG2439: 3/6/2015 1:19:04 PMFor new players I agree, but after a while not taking damage is a breeze. if you do get damaged most have health regen from orbs on an exotic helmet or a lucky roll on a raid helmet. And if you don't find a blue helmet that does and swap it out when Crota isn't in the middle and pick up the orbs by the Crystal. Gjallarhorn is better for experianced players

2 RepliesI've gotten 5+ red deaths but i only kept one and it replaced my hawk moon for pvp. I don't use it for crota tho I really think gjallarhorn is important.

I run W.O.C Black Hammer and ghorn on my warlock with soul rip ( regen when you kill enemies with your melee ) and I have light beyond nemesis. On hunter I run oversoul edict ldr 5001 and ghorn with bladedancer with hungering blade if im not running sword ( if I could get the chestplate I could put on my mask of the third man and be good ). On my titan ( when I get the chestplate : ( ) I will run insurmountable skullfort with striker or defender with helm of saint ( were all my og saints at? ) Or glasshouse. And with fatebringer/ a badger ccl with fatebringers exact roll ldr 5001 and ghorn.

People can take crota down with any rocket thats 331 if everyone shoots one rocket . That being said , the lack of regen health brings an issue to survival . So red death is ideal for this raid instead of GHALLAHORN .

3 RepliesNot sure that everyone is aware but just putting this out there that the CE Raid helmets can come with a variant perk that Replenishes health when you pick up an orb just like Mask of the Third Man, Apotheosis Veil, Light Beyond Nemesis, or Insurmountable Skullfort without taking up an exotic armor slot. My Unyielding Casque for my Hunter has that perk. I'm sure it can appear on the Warlock and Titan helmets too, just look out for variant perks before crushing duplicate drops if yours doesn't already have it.
