STOP WITH THE RAID "HOTFIXES"

Christ. This week's (I don't even want to consider this a hotfix) "hotfix" was two....TWO fixes to the CE raid. Nothing else. Players have made countless threads on bugs that have existed ingame since the damn launch. This is going to happen AGAIN with HoW. You're going to release the raid that can be entirely "cheesed" AGAIN. You're going to sit there and spend all of your time trying to fix something that apparently you guys can't even make halfway right in the first place. There are far more things to this game than the raids and nerfing guns in PVP. Start fixing THOSE things first. The entire raid can still "cheesed" after the first CE patch AND the most recent patch. Give. Up. Move on and start working on other things that affect the rest of the game. This is showing a lack of respect towards players. Countless threads with thousands of replies and up votes and it's not even acknowledged. When are you going to start listening and make the game better for EVERYONE, not just those who raid. This is so ridiculous. When are you all going to get your heads out of your asses. Let me guess, next week's "hotfix" is going to be MORE patches for the raid only and other problems in the game are going to continue to be ignored. Edit: most people wouldn't even cheese or try to find exploits or your poorly designed game if the RNG wasn't so ridiculous. There's no need for a massive buff in drops, but this is the exact reason why people choose to take that path. We spend enough time playing hundreds of hours trying to get a few things we want, but the game continues to hold them out against us. So here's another edit since some people seem to be taking this the wrong way: I do not mind that they're trying to fix the exploits. I could 10,000% care less. The objective of this thread was to try and get them to stop focusing so much on their raids, that people will CONTINUE to find ways to exploit. It's almost as if they're trying to have a war with the playerbase. I want to see them actually make useful hotfixes for ALL the players. The last hotfix I've seen like that, that truly helped, was when they fixed decoding of engrams. After that, damn near everything has been useless. I want to see the game get better overall. Not just one aspect of the game. They spend so much time trying to fix exploits of the raids they release, rather than paying any attention to the other things at hand.

  • You should post this at redit. The community manager spends way more time there than the bungie forums. Seriously.

    • The problem is the ever changing definition of "cheesing". Since Destiny is designed to be non-linear it becomes difficult to define "cheesing". The definition has devolved into "if you don't play "this" way, you are cheesing". Since Destiny is non-linear, that argument is moot. Exploiting a glitch? Okay, that is cheesing. However, a player that manages to find a good perch to use a sniper rifle to their advantage? That is not cheesing, that is just clever game play..... a trait that Bungie claims to not only be in favor of, but encourages. If Destiny was suppose to be played by going toe-to-toe with every enemy there would only be one character class, Titan.

      • I partially agree with your post. I do think they should do something about the bugs in general. But the raids are the penultimate challenge in the game, or are at least supposed to be. We're not gonna talk in relative terms here since a Destiny raid is easier than a traditional MMO raid, but that's how it stands. Bungie needs the raids to work properly. To do this, they have to try to fix the things that are wrong with it. Yes, they could be fixing other things too, but let's not forget something: Guardians share the blame too. People don't use exploits in the raid because they want easier loot. They do it because they're lazy. They want to get as much done, as fast as possible, with as little effort exerted in the process. It's the unfortunate and awful mentality that has seeped into this generation of gamers. You say that if they fix RNG and bugs that people would do it the right way. Don't make me laugh. If they fixed every bug in this game tomorrow not related to the raid, the same people who are using exploits now will continue to use them tomorrow. You wanna know how it really is? If guardians stop using all these exploits and play the raid the way they know is correct, maybe Bungie wouldn't see such a need to try and fix the raid over adding some other quality of life features to the game, like vault space, or fixing bugs in the game. And no, these "exploits" are not just a different way to play. Don't sling that garbage around. People in MMOs get banned for using exploits of any kind. Destiny is not an MMO, but adheres to certain MMO structure pretty closely. The raid is supposed to be one of those things like an MMO. And in a traditional MMO raid, there is ONE path to get something done. And if you can't do it, guess what? You don't get the loot. But noooooo, god forbid someone actually put forth some effort to learn something and get their stuff. No, the entitlement and laziness that's so prevalent moves people to think that they deserve raid gear simply for buying the game. And the way people find exploits so quickly, followed by masses and masses of people following suit and performing said exploits, proves that point. As a result, we end up with Bungie focusing solely on fixing the raids (which will never be perfect at release time, get your head out of the clouds), and the entitled, spoiled, lazy attitude continues and becomes aggravated since those same people also want the world from Bungie in terms of quality of life issues. Don't believe me? Just look at some people's lists of things to fix/add/change. It's disgusting. Don't get me wrong. I think Bungie definitely needs to put more work into designing raids that can't be traversed to the top of the map, and that accurately account for all the abilities a guardian may be able to use to get around certain mechanics. And they need to put more work into making sure the raids release with as little issue as possible. But even in MMOs, if something is really broken in a raid (like certain things in VoG and CE were, it's inevitable), they make that a priority fix. There's definitely work to be done on Bungie's end. But there's equally as much work to be done on our end too. Feel free to give me all the hate you want, all of you. But we are a bigger part of this present problem than Bungie is, and you all know it. Play the game, play it RIGHT, and then maybe Bungie can start working on some other things. Seriously...

        • I think they need to fix the cheeses as the raids are suppose to be something you work on and are difficult and something to be proud of beating legitimately, that just doesn't happen anymore almost everybody that beats them cheeses them now

Agreed. Where are our; Exotic changes, both weapon and gear Bug Glitch fixes From the Original Raid and content that has existed and been known since release In game grimoire access Vault/ inventory/currency upgrades Error codes with stupid animal names from servers that randomly boot people PVE Events Better PVP events More types of modifiers/challenges/new types of challenges MANY MANY other things. This game is sooo fun but it could be way better each week with focuses on these things, but instead we spend 3 weeks dark over the holidays, and then 3 more weeks of an anti cheese campaign. Please work on other things, not just the mistakes you made that allowed too many people to level faster than you anticipated based on when HoW comes out.

I think the reason everything gets glitchy is the cheese patching. They design a raid that works and someone finds an exploit, they code that up so you can't do it anymore and it messes up other parts of the raid. It's their obsession with stopping cheeses that's messing up the game. Not to mention all the things they could make better in this game with the smallest amount of effort. Not even worth mentioning them here, they've been spammed on these forums since day one.

            • Lol. Cheesers are funny. Yes they should fix the heavy ammo and add vault space. But let's be serious guys. C'mon. They could fix every glitch and have a perfect experience for every user. You scumbags would still try to cheese, and you know it.

                • If you could care less, that implies that you already care somewhat. If you don't care about something at all then you couldn't care less. Implying that you care so little that it would be an impossibility to care any less. Good post, just don't want people to not understand that part.

                  • As much as I don't care about people cheesing, I can see why bungie do it. If I was a bungie dev I wouldn't touch any of the glitches until most of the cheeses were fixed.

Some weird bugs in the VoG are making it incredibly difficult to beat. Be it oracles immortal to relic melees, relics not cleansing players, instant blindness upon teleportation, or supplicants with impossible blast radii, they seem to occur with unsettling frequency. I love challenge (Dark Souls is my favorite action RPG); however, this unfair and artificial difficulty significantly hinders the experience. Despite spending so much time hotfixing the raids, they are still quite buggy. I certainly hope some of these bugs will be addressed in the near future.

                      • You are right about them fixing their precious raid content. There are so many other numerous bugs within the rest of the game that haven't even been touched. It almost makes me wonder if their QA department is on permanent lunch break. I'm with a lot folks who on the exploits. Why put time and effort into something that's : 1) Broken or still bugged 2) The risk and time isn't worth the reward at the end 3) Isn't that entertaining in the first place. Destiny is a social thing for me. All of my friends play. I have a bazilion hours playing. Not because it's just the greatest game i've ever played. But because its a hang out with friends. Personally I think the risk v/s reward factor in this game is aweful. There's a 100 better ways to do it. If you read the forums there are 12 year olds who do not have degrees in programming that have come up with better loot systems than this. When you clear all the smoke and mirrors, the loot system is ment to be this way to keep us playing. However, praying to the slot machine god will soon start to wear on folks. It's just a matter of when that happens.

                        • While I agree that it's aggravating seeing patch after patch regarding raids only I'm sure their entire team (could be wrong but I believe is 100+) are not all working on the raids... It's more likely the development of other requests/enhancements are underway who knows maybe they will drop them with HoW. Like I said I agree with you, I would love some indication of current work besides raid patches.
