So, after a long day of Iron Banner, I decide to head back to the tower to see if my bounties had reset, they didnt... This tower was oddly quiet though, no one running around, no christmas newbies jumping up and down after coming back to the tower with their big haul, It was just quiet. Im about to head out into orbit until suddenly a lone message appears at the top of my screen. I think to myself "oh god not another crota invite." I go to the dashboard hestitantly and click messages. It was a quaint, small message from a lone lvl 27 in the tower asking me to run the nightfall with him, that since hes been playing this game hes been alone. I stare at the message my eyes squinted and my heart drooping. I think queitly to myself, that I dont have time for this, that I dont want to. As im about to click back my heart kicks in and tells me just do it. So I invite him to a private session and we begin the nightfall together. I of course have already done it and wasnt really expecting anything. For a lvl 27 this guy was pulling his weight. Reviving me when he could, attempting to do damage. We finally get to sepiks prime and kill the bastard. I was really hoping for him to get an exotic, to make this nightfall special and he did, he got the "Helm of Inmost Light" for his/her titan. I turn around and see him jumping with glee dancing about the new exotic he just recieved. I think to myself, "my job here is done." I leave to go to orbit and continue to go about my day. Moral of the story, if you see someone that is new dont be afraid to give them a hand and show them the ropes, because remember, everyone was new once, even you.
EDIT: Thanks to everyone for the great comments! :) I never thought this would get so many of them, make sure to share your stories down below and keep on keepin on.
EDIT: Im providing free nightfall/weekly runs, for anyone that needs to do them. New, experienced, old, young, whatever it may be ill help you get it done. PSN: Leonatius (PS4)

Anyone needs help?

Destiny needs more guardians like you. May RNGESUS bless you with all the exotics your sweet heart desires.
-
much feels good, new gaurdians, always include a message in the "Play Destiny" request, it helps greatly

1 ReplyAnd that is the true definition of a " Guardian " A few weeks ago I was doing a bounty on earth and I get a message from an unknown guardian who asked if I could kill the ultra hive that is located in the basement of a small building. he was around a lvl-10 I think, and was just starting out the story. I had no idea who he/she was but I did remember how imposable it was to kill those hive when I was a level-10, so I followed him down the stairs and destroyed the hive for him, their was a chest in the room they came out of and when I went in to get the loot I get another message from him thanking me for the help. I put him in my friends list and went on my way. a few weeks later I was on the moon doing bounties when a public event came down. I was the only guardian around and was holding my own until the last wave then I was just trying to stay alive when all of the sudden another guardian showed up and started helping out, we finished the public event and I looked at the G/T and sure enough it was the same guardian only now he/she was a level 23 and able to hold their own. Don't know why but it made me feel good about helping him when he needed it and then him helping me when I needed it.

Good job dude. I have done this. Not recently... But that's the point of this game.
-
I helped my buddy get from 25 to27 yesterday to run nightfall. He got secret handshake sucks but well on his way now!

Good job guardian. This game was so lonely when I started... it's nice to help out. I joined a vog group from forums this weekend..3 people were new. I actually led the raid and we did well...Real well. even the 26 learned to relic with templar! got to gatekeeper and it was just too much..but it was a great time

I would say may RNGsus bless you, but we all know he -blam!- all equally :). BTW, very inspirational. I had a similar instance with the CE raid. Guys really wanted to have a 32 so I dumped my 31 who needed it to help these guys out. I haven't been able to get it done on my warlock yet but still it was nice to just help them out even if they don't help me :)

Buuuuuuuuuuuuump! x A million You sir deserve a reward from the crypt arch... That doesn't suck monkey ass.
-
I want to play the game where you would then have the option to execute the other guardian, defile his lifeless corpse and take his exotic helmet for yourself.

Edited by Oath: 1/19/2015 3:37:04 PMA while ago, I was running around the start area of the Cosmodrome on my Titan. I have Ruin Wings, so I pretty much can run my Thunderlord almost constantly. Level 2 Guardian spawned in, and I pretty much was his bodyguard during the second mission. He ended up inviting me to his game, where I proceeded to blast holes in Riksis' skull. Fun times

Good job guardian. I took a 27 through a weekly heroic or nightfall too. He got the IB. I can only imagine his excitement. It made my day too. :)))) I love seeing things like that.

He was in with one other person who must have been new but i was on the game with my wife! only 3 in a fireteam does feck things up sometimes! It was the wife or this noob, sorry but i didnt have a choice plus its brownie points lol

Nice post. The thing is, not only do you get a good feeling from helping others, you help to ensure the future of Destiny. This game will live or die on its community, making that experience a happy one with a sense of camaraderie will mean more people want a part of it. Embrace the newbs!

I recently upgraded to PS4 and have 3 high level characters but needless to say that leaving my old network of guardians behind proved to be difficult. The one thing I will say that makes this game just so much fun is playing with others and sharing experiences together. Luckily I have a couple friends on PS4. 1 in particular who I play with the most who recently go the game. He is now a lvl 27 Warlock and can participate in most Raid / Weekly / Nightfall activities. The hard part was finding new folks to run the Raids with. SO... I started visiting tower to tower recruiting lvl 25-28 to join and do VoG for the first time. All in all, it was alot of fun watching players grow and understand the mechanics of the game and to be apart of their excitement / disappointment from the drops they acquired. I look forward to meeting new peeps both veterans and newer players. Keep the love goin.

2 RepliesI started the game about a month late because I was deployed during release. When I got to lvl 25 I decided to download the app and find a raid group. Not knowing that no one wanted a lowly 25. Well one group responded without hesitation. Showed me the ins and outs of VoG the right way no cheeses. After the first raid they invited me to there clan and helped me with my first nightfall and weekley. Now I'm 32 and feel I pull more than my own weight and like paying it forward. So for all those Christmas newbs out there, there is kindness all over the world known as destiny. Add hawkassassin if you can't find a group.

3 RepliesMy daughter is a Christmas noob she got an xbone for Christmas and had watched me play Destiny on the PS4. This week she had only 23 coins so she had to decide on either an IB or Obsidian Mind...she has a warlock and titan. I told her to get the IB and see if she could grind out 7 more coins. I get up early every day so on Sat I skip my PS4 bounty time and get on her xbone and grind out some ROC strikes in hope of Master Rhool granting coins vs a blue item. No go..... She was recently adopted by a lvl 32 in the helping a kinderguardian out post on this forum. He takes her as part of a group to Iron Banner and then helps her get a couple chest in CE. They helped her get her lvl 24 to lvl 27 ran the nightfall they wiped twice but in the end got it done....thanks the those who help lower lvls out. Had many ppl help me out along the way since I really dont have RL friends that play games. I'm 54 and recently hooked up with some good folks that take me on raids and weekly/daily strikes.

Nice to see someone helping out a player in need, rather than complaining about lower level, less experienced, and/or less skilled players.
