To The Screeching Icebreaker Owners
The massive outcry of those who owned the Icebreaker prior to Xur carrying it is just a fascinating lesson in human psychology. The argument seems to be: "Now the Christmas newbs can buy it, and that's not fair because they didn't EARN it. Now my Icebreaker is worthless because everyone else has it!"
This blows my mind for 2 reasons.
1. The Icebreaker bought from Xur is infinitely more "earned" than a drop from RNGesus, because you have to actually grind to obtain strange coins, thus truly earning the right to purchase and own the weapon.
2. I got my Icebreaker in a totally random drop, and I'm not upset that my friends can now pick one up with strange coins they saved up and earned. It only makes the game better for us all. Now we can more effectively run raids and nightfall and weeklies. The fact that anyone would be outraged over the Xur Icebreaker is a reflection of pure human greed and the obsessive need to be a special snowflake.
It's great that Xur is carrying items that are more worth buying lately. It's a heck of a lot better than seeing Sunbreakers for the 80th time, or a terrible exotic like the No Land Beyond, isn't it? RNGesus, guys!

I have my Icebreaker since I hit level 20, and finally people can have it, I'll be glad to snipe people with Icebreaker with my own... GJ Xur, now sell SUROS Regime :v

Best part is Xur sold the IB before and has offered to upgrade it since the DLC has launched. I wonder how many of these people complaining now have purchased it before and how many of them updated it before. Oh well ...

Currently helping a new destiny noob level up a second character from scratch so he can get the icebreaker. Everyone deserves one.

I bought it when he first sold it a couple of months ago. I didn't realize how amazing it was until shortly thereafter.

1 ReplyThey're only mad cuz now more people will have it and thus they are not the "lone special sniper willing to stay up top to deal with oracles/etc" on raids. Now they may have to accept a different role and interfere with their KDR in PvE events Boo frickin' hoo. More people having the good weapons makes raiding easier

5 RepliesStill confused as to why people are upset about this now when he's sold it twice before in the past. I bought mine from Xur the first time he had it. Who cares if someone else has it now too. It's just an exotic. If you've been playing this game since or near launch and you still think your exotics make you special, then you need to wake up.

I just find it funny that people complain about Xur selling IB as if it's the first time he's had it in stock. Sure he's only had it once before, as far as I remember, and it may have been fairly early on, but it was late enough after launch that even I (who progressed fairly slowly) was able to afford it. Meaning almost all of these "playing since the beginning and had to *earn* it" people, had the same opportunity to purchase the gun from Xur.

Sorry TwoBeersMears. And Braddock76ie you're still right too. One other thing, even strange coin drops are mostly random. For awhile I also got them for the open events, but now I only get shards and motes (what the hell IS a mote, anyway?). My point being, is that whatever way you get to an exotic, none of them are easy- unless you're lucky and most of us aren't.

You act as if people randomly stumbled upon the icebreaker while gardening. Everyone who got it, did something to earn it. So no matter how you got it you earned it.
