The massive outcry of those who owned the Icebreaker prior to Xur carrying it is just a fascinating lesson in human psychology. The argument seems to be: "Now the Christmas newbs can buy it, and that's not fair because they didn't EARN it. Now my Icebreaker is worthless because everyone else has it!"
This blows my mind for 2 reasons.
1. The Icebreaker bought from Xur is infinitely more "earned" than a drop from RNGesus, because you have to actually grind to obtain strange coins, thus truly earning the right to purchase and own the weapon.
2. I got my Icebreaker in a totally random drop, and I'm not upset that my friends can now pick one up with strange coins they saved up and earned. It only makes the game better for us all. Now we can more effectively run raids and nightfall and weeklies. The fact that anyone would be outraged over the Xur Icebreaker is a reflection of pure human greed and the obsessive need to be a special snowflake.
It's great that Xur is carrying items that are more worth buying lately. It's a heck of a lot better than seeing Sunbreakers for the 80th time, or a terrible exotic like the No Land Beyond, isn't it? RNGesus, guys!
Bump/like if you agree.

5 RepliesYeah I think anyone who bitches about xur selling icebreaker should be slapped in the face with boiling diarrhea. If anything you should be bugging the hell out of your buddies to go buy from xur right NOW. It should go down something like so: "ay bruh go buy the ice breaker trust me. NO DONT SAVE YOUR COINS FOR THE LAST WORD GO FREAKING BUY THE FREAKING ICE BREAKER YOU MORON OR IMA SLAP U thx."

2 RepliesYour f ucking stupid for making a useless post that's been said too many times already

I have to totally agree with your post. There are way to many butt hurt brats out there crying about this subject. We all earned this weapon one way or the other and most of us adults payed for this game with our hard earned money. This reminds me of every time a band signs a recording contract and goes public it loses a portion of its original listeners because the band "Sold Out". So I say let them all throw a tantrum about every one being able to purchase a great sniper rifle and quit listening to music because some people are trying earn a living. The worlds not going to quit spinning because your butt hurt. Bump Bump and Bump!

Edited by LukenessSA: 1/18/2015 5:45:29 PMI was short of coins so started a new character and stayed up until 4.45am leveling him up to do the weekly. I've never worked so hard for a gun, and I've never really lusted for ice breaker, lol. But with raids and nightfalls it's just too useful to pass up the chance.
-
If anything, I'm really worried about the people getting suckered into wasting their time by deleting and grinding new characters every week just to get some data for the game weapon they want. There's no reason to only make a few weapons and then hold them back from players to extend playtime.

2 days into the icebreaker thing and I think the game is just fine! Still using other snipers just as much!

9 RepliesWhen I started playing the game I came to know of this weapon from a friend, and ever since then I've wanted it. Since I'm a noob I didn't expect xur to sell it, however, I always kept a fair amount of strange coins at my disposal. The weapon of my dreams came, and yet I only needed 3 coins. Every day I get strange coins for no reason, and I spend 2 days trying to get these coins, and I only found one. The weapon is now gone and I feel like this game trolled the crap out of me. And also I did nightfall with my friend in hopes to get those 10 coins, he got them and I didn't. So yeah, it looks like I'll never get this gun.
-
It takes a lot to grind for 17 strange coins lmao

Welfare shitter detected.

Congratulations on being the 76,000th person to make this post, thereby making another thread on which people can continue to argue over nothing. STFU.

I feel the same as you but when Xur was selling The Last Word maybe 6 weeks back. I had just ran the vog and got it in the Gorgons chest. Chuffed to bits, and day after Xur was selling it. Obviously the last word is a God in PvP, but when lots of people got it from Xur, it made the crucible more interesting in my opinion. Moral of this, someone got icebreaker from Xur? So what? If you got it in the nightfall.

Thankfully, the majority of players are like the OP. I have yet to play with anyone who is whining about the fact that I bought the IB yesterday. The only thing I have gotten is some vocal thank you's for killing things with solar shields.

People who think they are special because the "earned" the dam gun are news flash just like millions of other people around the world who don't know what the words get over it mean so to all those whiners out there get a life it's a video game.

Goodshit bro

Bump...yeah these whiny little over-privileged kids make me sick. The great thing is though, a few of them might have actually learned something....don't bitch about stuff that doesn't make sense, unless you want to get verbally destroyed.

Exactly my thoughts. Bump.

1 ReplyEdited by llEirikll: 1/18/2015 1:44:24 AMI'm mad because just last week they said they will never sell the ghorn, but now they sell the next best thing. I think they should sell ghorn so the people that earned the icebreacker in a drop can have the two best guns in the game. so next week make it ghorn and see how people react.

Sums it up! I had 2 before he sold it, and I just brought one from XUR. Like you said, people still have to work hard for strange coins, so I don't know wtf they complaining about. they should be happy "Christmas noobs" will now have better weapons to be able to play better and not be a burden to a team or clan. It's just arrogance, greed, and obnoxious behavior going on over that and I, as a day 5-er (lol) am not apart of that outrage.... BUT I AM PISSED THAT XUR STILL HAS NOT BROUGHT BACK THAT -blam!-ING RED DEATH! Aaaaaaarrrrggghhh!!!

2 Repliesthat's part of the problem with these games. I mean other than the "ME" mentality. Be it Me needs/wants or me is here killing Blades of Crota so I'm going to kill it as quickly as possible so Me doesn't have to spend more time grinding while the poor sucker who was doing the same just got shafted and stuck sitting around because Me got there first and destroyed him in 2 seconds.... Anyway, simply put the problem is that all those Me's out there keep their head held high holding a token of desire. When that token is no longer of desire then all those Me's are just the same as everyone else. Another individual with something virtually everyone owns. The Me's are no longer special and no longer can hold said token over their friends heads. The Me's become common majority and specially privileged. And let's face it. This Country and game has plenty of Me individuals. Not care for us because it's all about me. that being said. All MMO's and these games suffer from this. Everyone wants the untouchable, the elite kick arse weapon, armor, accessory and the fewer who have it the better because Me is most important and I have it so look at me

3 RepliesI don't care how a person got a weapon or armor or strange coin or mote of light or mark or glimmer. A person has icebreaker, great! then they will be able to help with sniping if needed, i'm not going to interview them about how they got it. And to those who say that 'whatshisname' bought his from xur and didn't earn it, then don't be stupid. Apply the exact same rules to RL, I did some work, i got paid for that work, i buy destiny/ps4/car/house because i earned it! If someone wins lotto and becomes a millionaire, then people will hate them for getting it due to jealousy but few will say that the money isn't theirs. To those who have got theres through RNG, Grats! you won the lottery. You may have 'entered' that lottery once or you may have entered a thousand times, YOU EARNED IT, and you can keep them, well done. To those who got theres from Xur, Grats! You spent currency that you earned via completing tasks on the item and now have a shiny new Icebreaker because of that, YOU EARNED IT, and you can keep it, well done. In other words to those who are griping yet again about what xur sells, and this happened with icebreaker last time too, Get over it! and while your at it, Get over yourselves! My friend bought an icebreaker today, i'm happy that he now has a decent or better long range weapon, i wish the other mate who was online had enough SC's to afford it, cause he hasn't got anything legendary or better other than murmur.
