xur spoils hardwork

Xur should stop selling exotics you should be only able to acquire exotics through hard work I.e raid, nightfall, good stats in pvp. Exotics should be achieved through doing something that's difficult. Xur should just sell upgrades for exotics. Nothing more. Bet you my ice breaker everyone will be rolling with it this week. Xur is not the only problem what I'm saying is exotics should be rare. If you play pvp and get the most kills least deaths you should be rewarded. If you complete a raid u should be rewarded. If you do a nightfall have the most kills and revived alot of team members you should be rewarded. If you do a strike and not just wait at the beginning and have alot of kills you should be rewarded. Then you should be able to go to xur at weekends to spend your strange coins on upgrades for a weapon that you've earned. Not got through luck or purchased. That way exotics remain exotic.

  • I honestly don't care, but I see where your coming from. The only problem I have is about light. When the next dlc comes out level 32 will probably be easily obtained from the Crucible quartermaster or vanguards. That makes me feel like I shouldn't even try to get to 32

    • I got my first IB when Xur first sold it...then I got at least 8 more from raid chests (most effort) and nightfalls (least effort). So I honestly don't care if he sells it. People can use whatever they want. If you think you worked hard for that IB, think again

    • I have no issues with Xur buying from him is the closest thing we have to earning something. But besides that a compromise should be that even if Xur sells an exotic what he should really sell is bounties that lead to that exotic so his stock stays RNG or committee picked whatever it is but instead of just buying the gun he has in stock you buy the bounty that would then lead to that exotic that way it feels more earned and less given. In this scenario though I would like to see a way of having the bounty split so instead of having to do pvp to finish the bounty you should be able to choose you can go kill X in pvp or the game gives you an alternative Pve variation for those of us who find pvp to be a trawl.

    • I do not think Bungie really and truly intended for exotics to be super rare. Otherwise Xur would be a dumb thing to do. Instead the term exotic refers to the specialty perk that will be found on these specific guns. Everyone grinds something in this game, be it raids, patrols, strikes or crucible, so everyone gets rng drops. No one earns something unless the reward is guaranteed. Your paycheck isn't random, it's earned. Just play the game and you will eventually get something. Stop complaining about earning, xurning, and rng. It's the way the game is.

    • I never understand the point of view of people who make these topics....games are not work, playing gives you standard rewards that you redeem for exotics, random drops are lottery.....therefore, strange coins merely set a quantitative requirement easily met by time. Xur brings choice in the same way a gift card does(you know where you're shopping, may as well get what you want), so you could say relatively receive an exotic for doing 3 level 30 weekly raids(=1 exotic), 1 nightfall(=good chance for 1 exotic i.e 9-12 strange coins), with various raiding. PVP exotic rewards makes no sense to me, but moving on.....so there are other slow small rewards that give strange coins.....there for, "earning" strange coins is remarkably similar to your idea of "earning" exotics, only it is through redemption which helps lessen rewards duplication, random rewards have given me one same exotic 5 times, none of my other 20ish have been though.

      • Shut up fag. I had to work harder to get mine then you. If I were to go into a nightfall and you are awarded icebreaker and I get 9 strange coins, now who has to work harder to get it. That's right I would. So quit bitching

So many snowflakes at the weekend. Every damn time. Exotics are exactly the same as legendaries, barring ONE unique perk. How does anyone owning an exotic affect your experience? We're talking code and pixels here. Do they really mean that much to you? Have fun not buying something you want when Xur has it, while others add a new shiny to their collection. Hope you enjoy grinding for an item that may never drop, all because of snowflake syndrome.

Every Friday morning is the same, why should exotics be rare? If you're old enough go into the kitchen and look at the spice rack. Those are exotic... Do you think they're rare?

      • *Sigh* I'll just leave these definitions again of the word exotic that once again do not mean the rarity of these weapons. - "of a kind not used for ordinary purposes or not ordinarily encountered" (which is why we obtain them in different ways) - "attractive or striking because colorful or out of the ordinary" - "very different, strange, or unusual"

      • Honestly, if you think about it, earning things through hard work doesn't really happen in this game. The game's loot is completely random. So earning an exotic through having no kills in The Crucible is not really earning it. Obtaining the Strange Coins and buying it is more work than doing nothing in a Crucible game and earning rewards.

      • Nothing in this game is earned through hard work because nothing is ever promised. Everything is based on RNG, you can't actually work towards something (except exotic bounties).

        • So why should exotics be rare? The misconception people like you have is that high-tier gear, like exotics, should be rare, like other rpg games. But if you haven't noticed, destiny isn't like every other game.

        • Hows xur spoil hard work?? I don't understand you people. He doesn't just give this stuff away you have to earn the coins to buy it. Whether it be the weekly or from engrams you still have to play the game and EARN the coins.

        • Exotics aren't named exotic because of the rarity, they're named as such because, unlike 95% of weapons in this game, they don't have the same weapon model as other guns.

RNG is not hard work, if you happen to get the weapon or armor piece you want you have been blessed by RNG. Lets say for example 2 people want Hawkmoon. One person gets it from the first chest their first time in the Crota's raid and the other person completed Crota's raid 50 times and had it drop on the 50th try. Would you say they both put in hard work? Neither person put it in Hard Work to get the weapon. One was just blessed by RNG. Just because you invest a lot of time in Raiding or Pve in general and receive something you want is not a result of all the hard work and time you put it in. It is simply coincidence is a result of RNG. (Xur is not earning stuff through hard work either.) But i am sure some will see it otherwise as everything in life is subjective.

        • I bet you got most of your Exotics in your early days from Xûr, so shut your mouth. Once in a blue moon do I buy exotics from Xûr, because I've been playing since release. Most Xûr buyers have had it since Christmas. You used to be like that, so stop acting like a jerk.

        • lol. You know what, if this wasn't a shared world shooter and you couldn't see other players gear then no one would give a -blam!- about buying stuff from Xûr. It is like people saying anyone who uses shift codes in borderlands to get gear from the gold chest is a scrub.
