This is probably being posted on multiple topics to ensure it gets the right one. Recently I got the exotic weapon bounty for Thorn. Seeing that I am once again forced into a gameplay I do not enjoy nor am all that good at, I do it for sake of getting a good gun for my characters to use. Though I find that the crucible part of this bounty is broken. The fact that death in crucible removes 2 points and kills with ONLY void damage earns 5 points and it takes 500 points to finish it. This is broken on so many levels it makes me wonder if Bungie has lost its ability to know how to design and program games.
First of all I'm forced to play a gameplay I do not like nor am all that good at. Bungie has always shown an inability to understand its players since Halo 3. Not everyone likes CoD crappy style of multiplayer. Some do, they enjoy it so much they remain unemployed to play it 24/7. But many do not enjoy it and many of them are really not all that good at it. Thus they have KDRs below 1.0 and for every kill is least 3 deaths. Meaning they never gain any points towards finishing that part of the bounty.
Secondly the fact that even after finally earning points in one match, the next one can go really bad and they can, and very well will, lose ALL progress made. The fact it doesn't set in stone progress made between matches allowing progress to stick makes it so that it becomes impossible for many to finish it. Leaving them to have no choice but to abandon and never attempt the bounty again.
Thirdly it is stated that is must be done via void damage only. The hunters have no void damage ability and titans only have void damage grenades and therefor it's made so only Warlocks have best chance at getting this. Otherwise a player must track down void damage weapons which are primarily special and heavy weapons and not always can get the ammo or a decent weapon to use in the first place. I so far know of just one primary weapon that does void damage and that has to be a random drop from the Vault of Glass. There may be more out there but very difficult to get.
So even just void damage kills let alone 500 points worth with only 5 points per kill is already making this a challenge, but breaking it and making it unable to be completed by allowing deaths to essentially reset any and all progress made is just plainly dumb. More than half of the player base left in Destiny will be unable to obtain this weapon. Even those who are decent at the crucible can lose all progress from a string of bad luck matches. This bounty needs to have at least two things done to fix it, the first being the biggest point of all, removing the points lost due to deaths, and the second being to remove the void damage only. I would suggest that instead of void damage, say it must be done via hand cannons instead or something along those lines. Allow EVERY player to be able to complete this bounty, otherwise why have it or the weapon Thorn in the game in the first place?
And to those who will tell me stop being a baby and play crucible, I do. Despite my dislike and avoidance of it, I will put up with playing it inorder to get the weapon and complete the bounty, but this one is quite impossible to finish for many in its current setup.

For a weapon that strong it's should be harder honestly most bountys are too easy
-
2 RepliesI suck at Crucible as well yet it only took me 2 days of playing Crucible for as long as it took me to complete the easy bounties there. It really isn't that hard even if you suck at Crucible.
-
Why do you deserve the gun if you can't complete the bounty? It's pretty straightforward - those good enough to do the bounty get the gun, those who aren't good enough don't.
-
Hey man I feel your pain. I was just like you until yesterday when I finished this bounty. You feel really accomplished when it's done. Keep on trying, you'll get it eventually.
-
You can get it done. Just take a deep breath. Play a conservative game. Try to have a void heavy weapon, be aware of where the heavy ammo spawns and try to be there when it arrives. I just completed it yesterday after a couple of hours. It goes by much faster than you think. If you find you're having a particularly bad game just stay back and make sure you're always around teammates. Don't forget assists help also, so if you don't get kills at least do some damage.

I'm average at PvP and did this in less than 10 matches. The Xyor part is harder! To obtain ALL exotics you need to be good at ALL aspects of the game. I did have 3 void weapons which made it easier... I can't imagine doing it without atheons epilogue... So kinda feel your pain there!

tramp sandwich dances
with thorn :p
-
I suck at Pvp and I did as hunter blade dancer . It's ment to be hard . This game gives out exotics to easy already
-
If you don't want to play PVP for the Thorn bounty then you wont get Thorn simple as that. I didn't want to do the thorn bounty before but I eventually got it done and improved in PVP now I find it more enjoyable.
-
Lol its an exotoc bounty. Thorn is OP in PVP already so why would they make it easy to obtain? If you truly are a PVEer then you should have an atheons epilogue with void damage. Shouldnt take long. Even if you are not a PVPER the way its set up a 0.5 kdr will still create progress towards the bounty. Its not broken.

While I will agree that the bounty as a whole is challenging, you aren't being forced to do it. And it's only for Thorn. There are plenty of other guns I'm sure you enjoy using, so just keep on using those, buy Exotics, and hope for nice drops. That said, from my experience Thorn was totally worth the effort if you're a handcannon user. A funny aspect of the bounty for me is that I suck in the Crucible, and the hardest part was dealing with Xyor. So it's either you do the bounty, or you don't. The fact that it's difficult to complete doesn't make Bungie the problem. Good luck...

It's not hard at all. The crucible part goes by extremely fast. I had a rare shotgun and that carried me. As long as you go positive each game it goes quick
-
Took me 2 hours to do the entire bounty, didn't have my bros to back me in Cruc either so I lost a lot of games carrying sacks of useless shit. Ran rocket launcher and shotgun/sniper as needed for the maps. If you can't deal with the grind because your not good then just don't bother. Complaining will get you no where.
-
Stop complaining.
-
Ok dude it's hard lol I'll agree. A challenge is what makes a game fun. It's a decent weapon too
-
Got the pvp portion of the bounty done in 7 or 8 control matches AE Final Rest Dead orbit MG All void with defender titan. Pretty easy
-
2 RepliesIf the bounty was different, everyone would have it. I did the bounty in a day. Its honestly not all that hard either. Use the Atheons epilogue, and then play the mode where it's free for all.
-
1 ReplyFinished the whole bounty in one day. Took approximately 3-4 hours.
-
the bounty is hard and for some people it is impossible, however that is the point not everything in the game is meant to be given to you.
-
It's not supposed to be easy. And yet, it's not that hard. Did it over the course of two days and 10 or so matches with a horrible void fusion rifle and void sniper. And I am pretty horrible at crucible. Relax with the whining.
-
Lol it took me like less than one night of playing it's not that hard use a void sniper and headshot people all game
-
Edited by Revs: 1/12/2015 2:17:39 PMGod normally I'd read through a post before replying. But that was just too much whining. Don't like the bounty then don't -blam!-ing do it. I did mine with a blue frikin fusion rifle and void rockets the first month or so of the game. It was frustrating yes so much so that I switched into my normal pvp weapons halfway through the match (when bounty finished) and proceeded to laugh maniacally with relief of finally being free, while gunning down enemies who were getting away alive before. And I still did it just for the challenge (But more likely to free up a bounty space lol) it sure as hell wasn't for a pre buffed thorn In the interest of helping people though 1. Focus on living after you've built up a few charges Unfortunately that means quitting when you're thrown into a bad match in progress. Stopping yourself when you feel you're having an off pvp session. Whatever. A high risk play style (like running around trying to shotgun people) is for most not good for this bounty. 2. Get comfortable with your special. It's your new best friend for a while. And the no ammo is a bullshit excuse when there's so much special ammo in the maps (Saying this in lieu of no atheon's but still it's any iffy gun in pvp). 3. Get heavy ammo as much as you can. 3 or so guaranteed kills is always great for this bounty. 4. Don't sweat not having void damage on your abilities. Meaning don't force yourself to use titan void grenades and voidwalker (lol) if it just makes things harder for you. A good playstyle is more important
-
A lot of people are in the same boat as you including me. People say to get a blue void fusion rifle or Athens epilogue, and Even using the void shotgun from the raid sword breaker. it's a grind have Patience.
-
I think the problem resides in that there are not many void weapons in this game that are accessible to every user. When I was doing this bounty for the crucible I was using a fusion rifle, a rare one that does void damage because it was the only void weapon at the time I had.
-
its not broken me and my friend got it done in like an hour and a half

I replied to a number of posts on this. After reading this post, however, I lost the will to live.
