So I am a player who likes to kill everything when I'm on a strike. I like to maximize my chances of getting a rare or legendary engram drop. However, I've noticed that many players on strike playlists enjoy rushing through areas of concentrated enemies leaving members of the strike team behind. I view this as unacceptable behavior. I understand the "need" to get through the strike quickly as that is how you get the "maximum" reward. However, If you get one rare engram from the reward of the playlist and you could have gotten two or three rares plus a legendary by fighting all of the enemies available to you, for not a whole lot more play-time, doesn't it make more sense to clear all the enemies?
TL;DR: I always try and clear all the enemies to maximize drops/strike so I hopefully end up with several rare engrams and maybe a legendary by the end of the strike. Why do so many players simply rush to the final boss?

6 RepliesIt all depends on point of view, personally i couldnt care less about engrams because, well they dont give me anything useful. I dont need any more legendary weapons or lv 31 armor as i already have a full set. I only run strikes for the marks, rep, and the legendary ships you can get. If people want to sit back and kill all the enemies, thats fine, ill do what I want and I'll let them do what they want. They arent holding me back or getting in my way and im not doing it to them either.

I did it that way for a over a month. I can tell you now. You will get MORE engrams rushing through. I know it doesn't make sense but it's true. If you can hit a big group with a rocket on the way through do it but picking off every little thing you aren't missing anything. Also on rock strikes you get engrams at the end as well. I ran 3 or 4 strikes tonight. Turned in 18 engrams. 1 legenday chest, 1 legendary boot. Yesterday I got suros off the completion drop. Stikes are my go to once I've completed the reset material and I run them non stop for the rest of the week unless I'm helping others. Trust me. You will maximize your profit rushing it.

I think you should play how you like. It's a game after all. But I have to ask... How many times have you actually ended up with a legendary engram (our more than one like your post suggests) and a good drop at the end? I get the hope. I think we all hope to see that purple glow. But the drop rates are so low these days. The cryptarch package roll is your best shot. Unless you are one of those people who have ridiculous luck - every one has one of those people on their friends list.

8 RepliesHeres the thing..... you dont get to decide how other people play. The players who went ahead may be aggrivated at you for hanging back, and fooling around with dregs, while they are trying to get to the boss. Lots of people grind these strikes for the end rewards, not so much for a ton of blues, or a legendary that could just as well come on patrol. But, just do your thing and dont worry so much about other players "unacceptable behavior". Oh, and you do know that those blues you are collecting are waiting at the postmaster for the other players too.

That's why you only play with friends/clan mates. -blam!- randoms.
-
I dont mind if people run ahead, but what pisses me off is when a 28 or higher dies trying to be a hero. My solution is to revive the first time, if the same jerk does it again, i constantly half revive and proceed to t-bag his dumbass.

I kill everything in sight... out of anger that I'm playing this same fcking mission for the thousandth time
-
You shouldn't care, you kill small mobs and get engrams meanwhile they're probably already at the boss and chipping away at him. I honestly don't see a problem unless for some odd reason you're getting bodied by the mobs.

2 RepliesEdited by x 4theRage: 1/4/2015 4:10:22 AMWhy do you care? Doesn't that mean more engrams for you and by the time you catch up to the guy in front of you he has already started working down the boss so win win
-
I take it you've never done the bad juju bounty? I'm working on it for the third time. Pardon me if I don't kill every bullet sponge colossus on the way :p
-
I just ignore them & do my own thing.
-
That's just what you get with matchmaking. People like to play in different ways. My advice is find two people that have a similar play style as you and go in as a team.

This again...

Me and my friend try to get through strikes as fast as we can because it's fun to try to break your record. Just saying... nexus with 3 black hammers and weapons of light... too good
-
I used to be like that. But I've been doing the roc playlist a lot lately and I find that saving some time by skipping enemies you don't have to kill is more efficient. Also one blue more or less, I don't care much, I do strikes for rep.
-
6 RepliesBut we all know killing that many enemies isn't going to yield those results you posted.
-
1 ReplyOnce you do it 500 times you simply just wanna get it over with as fast as possible. There are plenty of "darkness zones" within these strikes that you can have at it with the enemies.... I mean ive seen folks linger around killing enemies in the public zone during a strike or start farming....dont have time for that son...

2 RepliesIt's sad when someone rushs through the strike then dies to spawn the rest? Pussys

3 RepliesEdited by BlahK Dubstep PS: 1/3/2015 10:08:42 PMYour the reason why I leave people in the dust. Some people just don't have time to stop and smell farts. More important I am trying to get as many marks as possible. Also you you don't have to worry about getting your kills stolen, when your teammates leave you behind**
-
2 RepliesYou are much more likely to get a legendary by doing more strikes quickly then by doing fewer slowly and killing everything. That's why people speed through.
-
4 RepliesYou want to spend an extra ten mins killing every fly and flea every strike..... Just do it in bloody patrol. If I have the strikes bounty or a particular strike bounty from vanguard I try and do it as fast as possible! To get onto the next one. You want to waste people's time. Just patrol. Strikes are for the end result.
-
4 Replies1. Strikes are boring after playing hundreds of them 2. Guaranteed rewards > Possible chance of rewards
-
RNG that's why.
-
6 RepliesBungie should eliminate matchmaking for Strike. I agree with you, at times it does get annoying. I myself mostly play for marks & reputation & even I play the whole damn strike through. Simple solution, eliminate matchmaking so we don't get paired up with jerkoffs. I'd rather solo my strikes or run it with people on my friends lists than these thirsty ass schmucks.
-
Whilst I prefer to play the strike properly, I don't mind too much if my teammates rush through it, it's not like I haven't done it X number of times before. What I despise is the people who rush through, and COMMIT SUICIDE, just so that everyone is forced to respawn further in. That, and this guy today who kept trying to kill me with a Sparrow.

I started doing this. I used to rush, but it made the game feel like a chore. Clearing them out makes it fun, like you are *gasp* playing the game and not cheesing. I'm on xbox one, always looking for someone to not skip sections. I don't mind too much when people do this because they usually end up hitting the boss for a while by themselves while I catch up. Only I'm loaded with engrams and they are crossing their fingers for a good reward afterward. I get both.
