mytho vs. thorn pvp
So i just got the vex( yeah a little late to the party) and i am looking for thoughts from the experienced pvp players out there. I am a firm proponent of the thorn and absolutely love using it for pvp. How does the vex stand up next to it in the crucible? I just used it and i didnt do to well. Maybe it takes some getting used to but i switched back to my thorn and it felt like home. Thoughts, tips, preferences?

Thorn is really good. However I think The Last Word is better head to head. I regularly beat Thorn users because of the fire rate of TLW. That gun simply destroys in crucible.

I prefer Thorn but the Vex does have a psychological aspect to it with the sound that it makes. It might just be me but I find that it can really throw some people off (newer players maybe?), cause them to panic, and lose a fight that they should have won.

I'm alternating between the 2. I don't feel the vex is as powerful as everyone thinks it is when they are dying from it. Thorn on the other hand feels powerful

I don't have thorn yet (finally got bounty) but I'm not a huge mytho fan. Prefer hawkmoon by far so I'm guessing I'd rather have thorn

Vex is safer and easier to use, but the Thorn is more rewarding if your aim is sharp and you're consistent with headshots. They're both awesome weapons. Vex users almost always have the upper hand at mid range. Just be careful not to be careless and charge blindly into new areas, lest you be destroyed by shotguns and snipers. Also, MAKE SURE to use use Smart Drift Control + Send It on the Mythoclast in PvP. This allows it to be a super stable headshotting death ray with nice reach.

You need the stability on the mytho to even begin to use it for pvp

Vex is great for the less skilled while Thorn can have a bit more of a learning curve. However once you get really good with it few will be able to challenge you

An upgraded Thorn is awesome but the vex hits quicker. Head on with a vex you'll lose every time unless the player using vex is pants.

TLW will rek ur shit. Thorn will beat vex anyday in a firefight. 3 placed shots and boom

I have thorn but im just not good with it but i get killed by it alot on pvp and i respect the skill it takes to nail a headshot from across the map. Vex gets me alot too but no joke i have died more from jumping off the map and killing myself with my own rocket launcher so i probably am the leader in suicides.

I used vex the most but just switched to thorn. Thorn is better for good players, vex better for noobs. Thorn better long distance, vex better close to mid imo

1 ReplyThorn is good for range because you dont have to worry about precision hits just simply 3 body shots, but the vex will kill it everytime mid-close range... i actuallly dont like the thorn because last word is much better for all ranges, i dont like the thorn bevause its not a 2 shot precision kill, its still 3 shots, where as last word is 3 shots pretty much all the time as long as shoot from the hip and hit 2 precision shots, IMO last word is the best crucible weapon (assuming your talking about crucible)

I never liked the vex in pvp. It does fck shit up but mainly at close to mid range where fusion rifles and shotguns are predominant.. with thorn I play as a more mid range and do die to vex sometimes but usually thru deserved the kill because I have miss a shot or two. Whatever fits your style of play I don't like to be in the fray To many people sliding and shot gunning for me

2 RepliesYou REALLY have to unlock Zen Moment and extended mag. Until then the vex won't shine as bright as it can. Crowd control gives a 15% damage boost for 3 seconds after killing something so multiple enemies becomes easier to manage. Im not 100% sure on Vex vs Thorn in PvP but if PvE is anything useful to measure by thorn is not nearly effective unless you're at an extended range. I have yet to use my thorn in pvp so well both be trying new guns.

My buddy said he had a hard time using it but I adjusted to it quick I guess. The stability and accuracy is something to be respected. Edit: I don't use handcannons in crucible aside from hawkmoon occasionally. However one place I'd say thorn has mytho beat is range. Range on thorn is impressive for a handcannon.
