If you make fun of a person with a "disability"

Hello, I want to talk about this kind of stuff where people treat other people with a disability like crap.(i know this isn't about destiny but this happened in a fireteam with some guy) I want to state (Please don't hate. hey that rhymed lol) i am 15 and have a stutter. Its not a once in a while thing. It happens all the time. Either if i don't have (crazy as it may sound) "momentum or I talk too fast. Even when i talk slow i stutter.(I have stuttering blocks which is where it feels like you have no air left and just --------)So to that kid who tries to impersonate me by p-----lay des-----tiny. Think about going out to eat in a diner or something and struggling to tell them what you want. The most pure form of embarrassment. And stuttering does nit mean you are stupid -_- tell that to my honors classes. And the final thing is people hurting people with disabilities. Real disabilities not stuttering. Such as the 15 year old beat up a 22 year old man with cerbal pawsy. You people make me sick. Is this what the world has come too? Our generation isn't looking too good so far....... If you made it this far thank you. I hope you have learned something about this problem. Needs to stop NOW. Edit- Thank you all for amazing responses. Made my day/Night :) Edit #2- if want to add me maybe we could play sometime! On Xbox! Sorry PS people :/ GT- xMvPxVeNGeAnCe yeah i know its long lol (That's what she said) Edit #3- to all you hashtag people here you go. #Offtopic #Community :)

    • I play regularly with a guy that has a stutter. Sometimes its worse than other times, but its no big deal. He's a cool dude so it's all good and its never been an issue with me or anyone we've played with. If somebody cares more about your ability to speak than your ability to play, then you know who to block next. My dad used to have a really bad stutter when he was your age. He said he kind of grew out of it around 18-20yrs. Don't know how or why, but he seems to think its mostly a mental thing and as you grow older you become more comfortable and confident in yourself and your speaking. I have no clue.. The only joke I like regarding disabilities is "Yea I've got a disability.... Dis'Ability to spit mad rhymes on the mic" Perhaps insensitive, but it still cracks me up. There will always be losers in this world that disparage others for not being or thinking exactly like themselves.

People who mock others for what makes them unique are only trying to cover for their attributes that are more disabling than any "disability". Such shallow dbags only try to make others look bad, for things you should never be embarrassed about (it's what makes you, you!) because they have inadequacies they feel they need to compensate for. As someone who has what many classify as a "disability", I can tell you that it is only as disabling as you let people tell you it is. If you are getting a lot of shit from people, remember it's the internet which tends to either bring out the worst in a lot of people for some reason (myself included most of the time). Also, remember that people who insult anyone on what makes them unique are most likely either insecure and self loathing, or don't understand the effect their behavior has on people (a group I regret to admit I am a member of occasionally). All you can do is tell them that they are actually insulting you, and it's not all in good fun. Maybe they will realize they are being more of an ass than they thought, and will sincerely apologize and maybe even become friends. Maybe they will laugh and take your humanity as a sign of weakness and continue to make themselves look like a poster child for behaviorally dictated sterilization. Either way, their is always a mute option and the ability to report them for acting like humanity never evolved past flinging feces. As for the example of physical violence in the real world to people suffering from a disabling disability, unfortunately some people are just -blam!-ed in the head. People like that are, obviously, far more disabled than anyone they cause harm. They are incapable of living normal lives in the real world, and sadly, the best we can hope for is they are only able to commit one such atrocity before our nightmare of a penal system completely shatters their feeble minds and condemns them to a life of solitude of abuse. Stay strong in the face of adversity, because there is plenty of it. Just make sure you always come out of the other side a better person.

    • I feel for you. I have a 10 year old son that has a speech delay, adhd and high functioning autism. As a result, he is a bit of a strange bird and has problems communicating. My biggest fear is what is going to happen to him as he gets older and goes to move on from my home. People can be real tools and kids are noticing that he is different. Many think he is retarded and don't want to be around him. He is an straight a student that taught himself to multiple and divide between 2nd and 3rd grade in about 10 minutes of trial and error. My fear is that he may never go anywhere in this world, not because he isn't capable of accomplishing great things but because people won't give him a chance because he is different.

    • Yeah bro some people are just scum bags and 99% would never in a million years say anything to someone face to face. They are all e-thugs. Good luck out there and pay no attention to the morons.

I dont like making fun of people for any reason, im not racist or sexist or homophobic, I treat everyone with respect. That being said, I had some 25 year old guy running his mouth off in a GTA V lobby and he was making all sorts of racist and homophobic remarks. Somehow it came up that he was so bad at the game because he was missing his left thumb after an incident with a saws-all (his own words). It was all down hill from there. Only time I have ever made fun of someone for having a 'disability' and I think it was fairly justified. Although I do now see that he may have had some more serious issues arise from losing a thumb, I know I would go crazy if I had.

Internet has and will always make people braver than they are in person. Ignore them, block em, mute em, but don't let them get to you. Good people always out number the bad, it's just the bad are always the loudest people in the room.

      • To the shitheads replying to this thread in a negative way, like putting the OP down or making fun of him/others, please tell me why you do it. Legitimately explain to me what thought process, or lack there of, is going on in your head. Don't simply say, "Just because" or whatever. Give a legitimate reason. There is no reason to act that way. You are degrading that persons life. You may end up doing that to somebody in the future and, you will never know, they may attempt to commit suicide. Is your goal to hurt people that way? Is that the human you want to be? Everybody has problems. Some worse than others. There is no need to make a person feel like they don't deserve to live. Please, if you are that kind of -blam!-ed up person, move right the -blam!- along. Your parents are probably not proud of the spawn they brought into this world. This is meant to be a place to have a good time and meet new people. Keep it that way! To all of you people posting positive feedback, keep it up! You are the ones that make a person like the OP feel better and more accepted. You are the people that others like to have in there fireteam.

          • One of the greatest men to walk this planet had a stutter (and lisp, both the affliction and severity are debated to this day. Regardless...). He also happens to be a defender of the free world and accomplished this by becoming (IMO) the greatest orator this world has ever heard. Now it is my understanding that he overcame his speech impediment, however it should be remembered that: "My impediment is no hindrance". WSC. You seem to be doing a fine job of the last bit. Cheers.

          • Your stutter doesn't affect gameplay. As long as you don't get hit by boomer knights or feed kill to the enemy team then you're all good.

            • I'll admit i used to be that douchebag who would act immature with those who have disabilities. Then unlike most of you I grew up and I have a 3 year old daughter with cerebral palsy and she is the most amazing , happy, sweet little human being you'll ever meet even with all her problems. So, if that doesnt show all of you shallow minded weak gamers what being a real human being is well one day karma is gonna come knocking and when you ask why me just know you are gonna deserve every ounce of it.
